Just found out Castlevania turns 40 this year. It was the first game I ever bought 😔 😔

Castlevania was also the very first game I ever bought with my own money as well. Second was Abadox, which was maybe a mistake. That game was hard....and the art was wild.

True classic, but Simon's Quest was better.

What a horrible night to have a curse.

give me a Symphony of the Night remake

Belmont's Curse is definitely giving me SotN vibes. Haven't been this excited about a new game in a long time.

funny you should mention it, the you died sound from this game is my notification sound on my phone.

Oh man, I heard that sound too much while playing 😆

I remember being in 7th or 8th grade and had a random kid from my class that I never really talked to call me at home to ask if I had any tips to beat a certain level of this game. I guess he got a phone list of the class and was just going down the line to see if anyone could help.

Did ya help, or what?

At the time I didn’t own the game, so no

Those soundtracks were amazing. There's a song from Simon's Quest that's been in my head so many decades, I pushed it out my banjo lol

How does it feel to be the same age as old people?
Stevey1001@reddit (OP)
my grandfather told me "never get old". I should have listened to him

Those stupid Medusa heads were probably the beginning of my childhood traumas

Wish I knew what my first 3rd party game was. It was either Contra or The Karate Kid. Let's just say it was Contra.

The first game I recall buying is Kickle Cubicle. Not talked about all that much but it's a fun little puzzle game.
How kid me picked it with that cover art is beyond me.

if you haven't watched the Netflix show, I really enjoyed it. The second installation Nocturne was meh, but that first 4 season run was awesome.

I was 8 or 9 when the move Wizard came out and I remember SMB3 being the first $50 game I was aware of. I bet the neighbor girl across the street like a billion dollars that neither of us would ever be rich enough to afford it..... I'm still holding up my end of the bet, I wonder how she's doing

Those bats though...

Didn't live long enough to enjoy it 💀

Makes me wanna go home and turn on my NES Classic...

If I've inspired you to do that, my work for today is done
