Jet fuel can't melt Europe
Organic-Specific-500@reddit
Hopefully this is the end of flying empty airplanes around
Organic-Specific-500@reddit
News is in: no stoppage. Just raise rates.
Current_Judgment9956@reddit
if there's an actual constraint on supply prices will rise until demand is destroyed too. this means higher prices for fewer flights, especially at ULCCs that need the price perks to differentiate from competitors. you'll see less profitable cheaper routes canceled entirely rather than just increase in price
GrayRoberts@reddit
Luckily for them they have a robust and efficient rail system.
IntentionFalse8822@reddit
Ireland, Cyprus, Finland and Sweden are screwed so. They have no connection to the rest of the EU.
YouNeverReadMe@reddit
Having accidentally taken the train from Copenhagen to Malmö before, I can tell you that Sweden at least is connected just fine
TheSleepingNinja@reddit
I can't find a rail link to Iceland
al-finaltodoestabien@reddit
There’s a ferry from Denmark.
SacredUndeadMonkey@reddit
Shipping fuel has Tripled in price already.
SurgeFlamingo@reddit
Did you try Expedia ?
Less-Dragonfruit-294@reddit
You clearly haven’t played enough world building games.
Strakiz@reddit
Hahahaha! No. I mean, technically yes. But it's expensive and trains in Germany aren't known for being punctual.
Maybebelge@reddit
German inefficiency? Next thing you tell me is French don’t strike.
GopnikOIi@reddit
This is an incredible generalisation when talking about an entire continent.
DieselPunkPiranha@reddit
Yes, but almost any passenger rail is robust compared to what most Americans have access to.
Curious_Avocado2399@reddit
Did you try kayak search one and done
JudgmentUnited5297@reddit
Yeah I thought that was the whole point in recent improvements to rail and long term green planning, to reduce air travel to major hubs anyways?
mmaalex@reddit
Metric shit ton of ULSD & Jet-A has been loaded in the GOM in the last few weeks headed to EU, mostly Rotterdam. Well in excess of normal levels.
Source: I work on an oil tanker in the GOM and talk to a lot of ship pilots and have heard the same from multiple pilots in multiple ports.
dashingsauce@reddit
GOM is Gulf of Mexico, yes?
If so, essentially the US has now become the primary supplier for the EU?
mmaalex@reddit
Yes. Not sure primary, but my understanding is there is a lot more volume moving that way than historical norms
dashingsauce@reddit
Well between Iran & Venezuela, it certainly makes for a strong retrospective conspiracy
I guess we’ll see if indeed the US stabilizes as the primary supplier, or at least beneficiary (e.g. permanent tolls on Hormuz)

What do you think of that video about the topic you suggested?
dashingsauce@reddit
Tbh I expected it to be a crackpot exaggerated take on my own comment, but it was the opposite.
That was genuinely extremely useful for getting the full picture. I actually remember reading each of the articles individually mentioned in the video but didn’t have the full picture in my head until now.
Wild that it may have actually been 4D chess all along.
Fuzzy9770@reddit
Well, it made sense when I watched that video. But it's disgusting tho. I mean, how much terror is happening around the world out of greed?
The USA is a puppet to be used and the military is being send off as pawns to be killed. The whole Military Industry Complex is nothing more than a cash grab to grab even more cash. It has nothing to do with defending or safety.
"Thank you for your service" makes me sick because it doesn't serve the people at all.
I'm sick of the hypocrisy from the West (which I'm part of), the arrogance and ignorance. All the BS about human rights, international law, war crimes,...
I'm from Western-Europe myself and I despise the neoliberalism https://youtu.be/gR4eSEetKP0
It's a cancer in stage 4. We all know what methods are being used to treat cancer. I think it's a great analogy. We lose all of humanity because of this and capitalism.
I don't want to become a conspiracy guy or something but it does make way more sense about how fucked up the situation really is.
DieselPunkPiranha@reddit
I wonder how sustainable that is and how much reserve stock is used to do it.

EIA reports

America saves Europe from its troubles again.
hillierprotech@reddit
Easy to solve a problem if you're the one who made it in the first place.
unamailer69@reddit
Is that good or bad?
mmaalex@reddit
It's good from a "preventing a shortage" standpoint. Also probably means more profits for US refiners, and less for EU distributors who are scrambling find suppliers.
EnlightenedSinTryst@reddit
Probably depends on whether you’re making money from it
Sure-Examination-824@reddit
Oh good to know, I'll make sure to stop by the European jet fuel station then before they run out
IntentionFalse8822@reddit
If the EU is truly a union of equals then they will make sure there is fuel for air routes from member nations like Cyprus, Ireland, Finland and Sweden who all rely on air connections because they have no road or rail connection to the rest of the EU.
In reality commuter flights within the core nations like Berlin to Brussels will be maintained while the nations on periphery will suffer the most.
Strakiz@reddit
Time to check your bikes and make sure you have everything you might need in case your bike needs a repair.
Not_an_alt_69_420@reddit
Do you usually take your bikes places that you fly?
Sea_Hat_9012@reddit
Sometimes actually. 1 hour of flight = 5 days of riding.
fragrant-final-973@reddit
And it's such a scenic commute.
UltraMegaUgly@reddit
Germany: "Well, we have an old plan for how to deal with this we could dust off."
PromiseToBeNiceToYou@reddit
What about USA? I have a flight in July to go somewhere fun. Are they going to start cancelling on us? My husband has a flight in June for work too.
Mount_Treverest@reddit
The US has plenty of oil and distribution networks. The US is gonna be the European supplier.
dashingsauce@reddit
Fun is 100% about to be suspended
Motor-Ad8989@reddit
Gonna be a lot of walking.

Iran may try to bleed it out.
