Build a battery pack. It's not all that hard, although it's time consuming. And you'll need a spot welder. Also, if you consider doing this, do it outdoors away from anything flammable. And naturally wear face protection and gloves.

Look at the situation, they assemble the controller and cells at the factory, and if any of the wires are disconnected or the cell is removed, the controller will go into protection. If you find a separate controller, it will be locked by default. You can search for a pre-assembled battery on the secondary market, but the cost and reliability of this battery are questionable. By the way, I searched and did not find anything, and I cannot rule out that I did not search well. Additionally, I am in a sanctioned country, and I need to use an intermediary who will charge me 30-40% of the cost.

You might be able to buy another controller and operate the motor normally. There might be some work involved in 'divorcing' the battery from the current controller, but with creativity, it can probably be done.

when i dropped the ep6 on my 2024 bike to install a dropper i disconnected the battery. It didnt lock any thing but it threw a 199/201 connection error codes but didnt brick the bike. I took to my dealer and once i used the app to update the battery firmware the codes cleared and every things fine now..
Is this an only gen 1 thing then?

I went much deeper than you did, I went directly to the battery itself. I had experience with Chinese devices, and there's no protection there. You can solder and ignite whatever you want. Having experience with the Chinese, I applied it to the Japanese, and the result was disappointing.

OP I think a good option would be to replace the controller and put a different bms on the battery so it will work again, bms swap is easy so you can use same battery with different controller as to not have to worry about software locks, hard part would be finding a controller that is suitable for ur needs like getting torque sensing support etc, if you can find any controller like that, might be a nice fix. Don’t do this without checking YouTube videos for a rough idea on how to do bms replacements!

Shimano batteries are suitable, but none of the ones available for sale can be installed inside the frame. I don't want to install a battery on this bike using a village mount, as I don't want to lose it on a slope.
