Can this man broaden the appeal of a South African party seen by some as 'too white'?

I'm a non-white South African. The state of political parties are quite interesting.
The DA are really trying, but failing to attract non-white people. A key person in their party is Hellen Zille, who has had some very controversial takes in the past, and her presence just detracts many non-white South Africans to align with the DA.
Geordin Hill-Lewis is also an interesting character, and in my circles, opinions of him are divided, because he's seen (whether its true or not) as developing Cape Town for the rich, and not the common person.
It's a pity, because many South Africans, like myself, find themselves disliking all South African parties, and don't have ones in which parties with good charters are populated by credible people, leaving voter apathy huge

Huh? They wouldn't be running Western Cape unless they were able to get significant support from the 84% non white population

White South African here. I'm in the same boat. There aren't any parties I align with. I haven't voted DA because of people like Zille and Steenhuizen. I'll still vote next election for the party who appears to be the least offensive option at the time. Wish us luck.

Sounds like the American model.
