Does anyone else remember Hostess raspberry zingers with raspberry filling? Is this a case of Mandela Effect? Or was there another dessert that had raspberry filling?
No_Secret8533@reddit
Tasty cake Krimpets had raspberry filling. They had a second flavor which had no filling, but it had butterscotch icing.
Dragonnuttz@reddit
Had some yesterday
EnjoyingTheRide-0606@reddit
I remember them! They had coconut on the outside, too, right? And white cake with white icing.
Lightnenseed@reddit
I don't remember them having raspberry filling. I remember coconut and some sort of raspberry sweetness on the outside. This thread has made me want one of those.
intensenerd@reddit
Tiger tails?
Ok_Entrepreneur_8509@reddit
I do seem to remember seeing Nelson Mandela eating one of those once.
relikter@reddit
As documented in the book "The Berenstein Bears Learn About Apartheid."
Lightnenseed@reddit
lol!! Love this!
Fritzo2162@reddit
They had them and they still make them. They're coconut covered.
Back then they were called Dolly Madison Zingers.
TimelyExternal5769@reddit
They have raspberry outside with coconut on them, they don't have raspberry filling.
I remember a different snack cake that had raspberry filling and no raspberry outside, but they weren't zingers.
deathbypumpkinspice@reddit
this right here
elcad@reddit
We had an outlet that sold Dolly Madison stuff like Zingers. Mom was so mad that we didn't like them. Luckily Little Debbie appeared and was cheaper.
somewherein72@reddit
Didn't they have raspberry coating rolled in coconut with regular creme filling?
CrabbyOldster78@reddit
Yes. I think they still have them!
kninjapirate-z@reddit
I heard they are terrible now, they were my fave.
CrabbyOldster78@reddit
Awwww I didn’t know that 😭
GrandeT42@reddit
They were Dolly Madison. Raspberry cake, cream filling and shredded coconut on the outside. They were my favorite because I could only get them when I brought my lunch to school. Which was only when we went on a field trip, Are you thinking of the raspberry fruit pies?
IDontNeedAnotherNqme@reddit (OP)
It wasn’t cream though. It was raspberry filling and they were zinger’s made by hostess, not dolly madisen
GrandeT42@reddit
Dolly Madison made Zingers until the late 2000s. The only Hostess product that I can think of with a raspberry filling are fruit pies. I think you’re misremembering or conflating Zingers with something else. It’s okay, we’re getting older and our memories can play tricks on us.
SamHandwich0@reddit
Chocolate pudding pies
h8movies@reddit
Not Mandela effect, they just weren't as popular as the chocolate, but they had Charlie Brown and Snoopy.
IDontNeedAnotherNqme@reddit (OP)
Nope. Those aren’t it. It was like a deep red filling
daddydillo892@reddit
I like how people are downvoting the OP for saying this isnt what the post was about.
OP, you aren't wrong, I remember what you are talking about. Haven't seen them in years.
IDontNeedAnotherNqme@reddit (OP)
I just gave them an upvote to help. It’s bs
nixtarx@reddit
Wasn't there a raspberry sno-ball cake that had coconut?
daddydillo892@reddit
My grandmother always had something with a raspberry filling. They had the shape of twinkies but the filling was a raspberry jelly. There was no coconut topping like so e people on here are talking about. It looked just like a twinkie. Unfortunately, I don't know what brand they were.
Willing_Freedom_1067@reddit
Maybe you’re thinking of Jelly Krimpets. Tastykake product.
daddydillo892@reddit
The shape is wrong, krimpets have a flat top and the sides aren't straight, they have the indents. These were shaped more like a twinkie. They were about the same length as a krimpets but a rounded top and straight sides.
I don't know if they were little Debbie or maybe just a local generic.
somewherein72@reddit
Memory triggered. There was a 'jelly roll' that I remember getting sometimes. They were in a pack of three or four and they were like a cut pieces of a jelly roll cake.
MaximumJones@reddit
I could put myself in a sugar coma with those things.
jst_pchy_@reddit
During the low-fat craze in the 90s, there was a “low-fat” Twinkie that was filled with raspberry jelly instead of cream. I loved those things!
labboy70@reddit
Raspberry Zingers have always had a crème filling.
CeruleanShot@reddit
Orange zingers were amazing and they existed.
Willing_Freedom_1067@reddit
I loved the orange Zibgers even more than the raspberry 🤩🤩🤩
Winter-eyed@reddit
They still do.
rory_breakers_ganja@reddit
Nope. Always had crème filling back to the original Dolly Madison days.
"Zinger Zapper" commercial featuring Peanuts characters from 1981.
PinkyLeopard2922@reddit
I remember the Peanuts TV specials were always sponsored by Dolly Madison.
RebelSoul5@reddit
Definitely. There were also the chocolate and vanilla ones with the peel off roof of frosting.
Wonderful_Adagio9346@reddit
You mean the plastic frosting?
RealityDependency@reddit
Peel off roof of frosting! The perfect description. As a kid, I peeled off the Hostess cupcake roof, set it to the side...for second dessert. 😆
Wonderful_Adagio9346@reddit
Dolly Madison Zingers did not have flavored cream. The cake and the topping carried whatever flavor the Zinger featured.
Also, the plain Zingers were much better than Twinkies. Moister, and you got four to a package.
gchance1@reddit
It's only Mandela effect if everyone seems to collectively remember it incorrectly.
No, it's always been vanilla, and you're remembering wrong.
Upper_Economist7611@reddit
Yes! And the were covered in coconut! My mom was addicted to these!
Ok-Commercial-924@reddit
Maybe Gansito (or possibly Submarinos) by Marinela, found in Mexican grocery stores. Gansitos are yellow snack cakes filled with cream and strawberry jelly, coated in chocolate with sprinkles. Submarinos are shaped like Twinkies but with strawberry-cream filling.
chileanmonk@reddit
Could this be what you’re talking about?
Mumchkin@reddit
Hmmm, other Garmy members? 🤔
calmneil@reddit
Damn i luv twinkies then and now.
ConstantConfusion123@reddit
Sounds delicious! I don't remember anything like that, sorry. I find it odd that people are talking about zingers like they don't exist anymore? They're still in my area at least. I love all 3, but the raspberry are by far the best!
Plane-Fan9006@reddit
I'm guessing you're mashing together two memories (and two of my favorite snacks as a kid)....
Raspberry Zingers always had creme filling, BUT the description you gave of the filling immediately made me think of either Little Debbie Angel Cakes (think Twinkies with raspberry filling), or the bright red strawberry jelly in Jelly Creme Pies or Jelly Rolls (now called Strawberry Shortcake Rolls).....the only other raspberry filled things we had were those Archway Cookies and Jaffa Cakes

Hostess Os
Willing_Freedom_1067@reddit
I loved the raspberry Zingers. I can actually still get them. They’re 3.50 a box at my local Walmart. Something to consider 🤩😋
I don’t recall them having a raspberry filling, though. It was like a Twinkie-style cream.
If they did have raspberry filling, though, omg. I’d put a hurting on the whole box. 🤣😬🤦🏻♀️
warrenao@reddit
There is a "raspberry zinger" cake, but it's the DIY variety, and there seem to be quite a few recipes.
Build68@reddit
What the hell are you talking about? This would have been my number one! I have never known of this thing.
Zealousideal_Way_788@reddit
Raspberry zingers were like crack
Downtown_Anteater_38@reddit
I remember raspberry zingers with crème filling, not raspberry. Dolly Madison products weren’t available in my area, and we only got them when we went up to the Twin Cities, so my snack cake memories are hostess and Little Debbie focused. I do remember the commercials with the Peanuts, though.
Andovars_Ghost@reddit
They didn’t have raspberry filling, it was cream, but they were my favorite out of all the Zingers. I LOVE coconut.
r2killawat@reddit
They were real and so good!
