I may be alone in this but I feel like this what these rifles should be priced at ALL THE TIME, not just when on sale. $1000 for a quality complete upper receiver group, $350 for a mil-spec complete lower.

I really dont understand why anyone would buy the DD lower, unless you just want the roll mark or the god awful stock. Just a generic milspec lower with a really shitty trigger. Nothing special about it.

The common complaint is that the rubber overmold on the DD stock pulls beard hairs out, but I don't have that issue personally even though I pretty much always have facial hair. Maybe it's just when it gets to a certain length that it becomes a problem, but yeah, no issues here. And I gotta keep that Tornado Grey aesthetic going so I will not be swapping it out lol.

Question. Does resail value factor in? A whole complete DD rifle would probably easier to sell. Another question. Is there anything special you would want in a lower that is different and better than what's offered in the DD? Last question. Is there any other complete rifle out there for the same price that has better offerings?

A complete DD is 1000% easier to resell along with any factory build. When you’re building it, just just assume you’ll take a substantial hit if you ever decide to sell unless you find that right person that wants the exact setup. Nobody wants somebody else’s project especially if it’s not done right and can be dangerous. The “I built mine with x parts and saved $100 by patiently waiting a year on sales” crowd is more enthusiast and it’s going to be more niche.
The dd lower isn’t really anything special, most lowers are gonna be just as good as the next one unless you get something bottom of the barrel.

I'd trust their tolerances over PSA, but would take a well built out Anderson (RIP) over a milspec DD any day. DD mil spec lowers are pretty close to bottom barrel for me personally. Uppers are solid.

Its a decently good deal but remember, its a pin and welded upper so suppressing this is not so simple. I ended up buying the upper from brownells.

I'm new here, sorry for dumb question. I had thought P&W meant the barrel not the whole upper. but after some googling I'm super confused. If I buy this and want to suppress it, it's not as easy as getting a new barrel? I thought that was one of the big draws of the platform was easy swapping out of parts?

Pin and welded would mean the the muzzle device is stuck to the barrel making it the legal appropriate length to avoid NFA rules. You could still suppress it but will need specific stuff and its a hassle if you already have hubs for your own suppressors to use between multiple rifles, pistols and so on. Swapping out a barrel on a rifle is not simple, well sure, go in, take off rail, unscrew the barrel nut and swap but these barrels are around $300 and its already a great barrel so not worth switching it out since we're now stepping out of the "deal we got." A lot of hassle... when you can just buy an upper that isnt pinned and welded or build one yourself.
You can remove a pin and weld but again, its a hassle and youll have a hole in the threads. If youre okay with that, heck, just pin and weld a new muzzle device that works for your current or future suppressor.
Once again, preplan what you want to do, choosing a pin and weld isnt a simple buy.

Its a solid buy regardless. And as for building, I started with aero lowers, they are iffy right now but if you want to learn, just buy a psa lower, theyre affordable and can always slap nice uppers on it. BCM would be my next choice in lowers but mostly all of them are already assembled. Can't beat a 50 dollar lower from psa at the least to learn.

M4A1>DDM4V7, the M4A1 is one of their upper tier models and the quad rail is great. There are two DD rifles that are in the elite tier vibe check: this one and the mk18

good guns, different purposes. the DDM4v7 is a midd length 16 inch carbine with a light weight rail.
the RIS II M4a1 has the BOMB PROOF RIS II quad rail (which is amazing), the goated carbine length gas system and a 14.5 inch barrel.
otherwise both guns are identical with all other parts on the gun. both good, get whichever one jimmies your jammies
