I could’ve bought a far nicer VW Westy for much less than I’ve sank into the free one we got. Don’t even get me started on the Scirocco I’ve only just begun on. Ouch. Worth every penny.
That’s the Scirocco for me. I will spend whatever it takes to get it back on the road with everything done to it I couldn’t do when I was a kid. And if a Corrado happened to come my way in the meantime I’d jump all over it. I type this as I’m staring at my Mini project, daydreaming about getting my Rabbit pickup finished. It’s a disease.

I have so far spent $35k on my '69 911E. $14k to buy, $20k+ on DIY rust repair alone. I'm really hoping to get the restoration done in 5 years for total of $50k, but time will tell.

$150k into a $10k car staring down another $60-80k to get it done… yeaaaahhhhhh
petalxbloom@reddit
The math adds up perfectly one for the car, two for the parts, and three for the divorce lawyer. Truly a solid $120k investment.

One day I will spend inexcusable money for a VR6 Corrado.

What parts specifically?

Heater box on the exhaust system, and parts for the automated clutch system

How did you spend $20K on panels?

I daily drove a 1969 911T for five years. When I bought it, it was my dream car. Record scratch but it became my nightmare.
