Mr_Paper@reddit
I need this to be fake.
MarijnIsN00B@reddit
One of the ppl at my study used to have hundreds of tabs open on his laptop constantly, almost all of them being SCP lore.
And then complain about a slow laptop...
I wish this was fake
Din_Plug@reddit
What browser doesn't have tab hibernation? Both Edge and Safari have it does Chrome just not for some reason?
Hybrisov@reddit
Opera literally has it too
fechan@reddit
You sure? I think opera only has it figuratively
Empero6@reddit
To be fair, scp lore is a good read.
Impossible_Arrival21@reddit
and their website is pretty lightweight tbh
Empero6@reddit
It really is. Kudos to them.
Karpiu_lel@reddit
I remember my dad had so much tabs opened on his phone that chrome instead of number was showing smile face : )
jnmtx@reddit
I am guilty of this. Like OOP, S.O. hates it.
csongi36@reddit
I mean, after 150 tabs the new ones dosen't fit into the top bar he either needs like 14 windows open all maxed out, or he is selecting shit from the drop down menu in the top left.
kpingvin@reddit
Once I screenshared with a colleague of mine who was kind of an interesting character and I don't think I ever saw such a mess ever. He had literally a hundred notepads open with little bits of random text written in then, there was a bigger one where he documented his day like "9:27 I asked Jim about global variables", and of course his browser was maxxed out on tabs. It took him over a minute to find the thing he wanted to ask me about.
Of course, he was also a person who left a 10 paragraph comments his own PRs. Yes, not a reply to someone else's comment. He commented his own work, like "I still have to think about this part. Maybe I'll do it a different way. Let me think about this when I come back from the loo." (Again, no exaggeration) I don't think he ever finished a ticket before he was let go.
nanomeme@reddit
I am married to a serial tabber. All I can hear now is the whining of the CPU fan. This is what it's like to be married to an addict. I love my spouse but I cannot seem to help them change. The choices I must make must be made for myself now. 😭
Softspokenclark@reddit
My boomer boss’ laptop. Shit ton of tabs open.
dailybantam@reddit
Use a browser with sleeping tabs. He could keep all the tabs he wants and his RAM usage will be manageable
Jenkinswarlock@reddit
Unless you keep Google Sheets open, those fuckers never go to sleep, you have to manually “discard” the tab to free up the ram in my experience
TheApaullo@reddit
If the ram limiter is on they sleep once a certain memory allocation is reached
TheApaullo@reddit
operagx literally has this feature the guy in the story presumably has it turned off
Illusion911@reddit
Check out session managers
Bloody-Maria@reddit
Ah yes, my “ things I’ll definitely look at later “ tabs.
They’ll be important soon, trust.
Fire2xdxd@reddit
Use your bookmarks PLEASE
Proglamer@reddit
Eh. Firefox + TabGroups extension allows to have multiple switchable tabbars (each full of tabs). Very useful for research: a tabbar named 'Topic A', another named 'Topic B' - switchable with a click. Much more convenient than wrangling with bookmarks in a separate UI. The tabs from non-visible tabbars are unloaded and do not consume RAM. I have probably close to 1000 tabs in 20 or so tabbars.
jnmtx@reddit
In MS Edge, have you ever accidentally combined 2 tabs into a split tab, and tried to separate them again? very frustrating.
SpaceBug176@reddit
I usually have problems with accidentally splitting tabs instead.
burebistas@reddit
No, if they are not right in my face, I will forget about them
AlarmDozer@reddit
The way the Internet is, we should all be "Internet Archives" ourselves because I know some of my bookmarks are 404 media now.
Bloody-Maria@reddit
When the time is right I will.
SuperSocialMan@reddit
real.
Erizo69@reddit
lowkey me
Sethleoric@reddit
Brother is literally me until i basically bricked my old laptop into an unusable mess becase of how slow it was.
Smexy_Zarow@reddit
Hoarder
foxferreira64@reddit
Meanwhile I don't even like having the browser open at all while doing something outside of it. Never more than the current tab open either, unless in specific cases!
delet_yourself@reddit
Tell him to like the videos and use his like list as a watch later
Alternatively, create a playlist called 'watch later 2' and just add them
se777enx3@reddit
People seriously have so many tabs open? I rarely have more than 4 or 5, why would you need 2000 tabs open?
Ignisiumest@reddit
Browser history literally exists to prevent this, you can bookmark websites ‘n shit instead of keeping 10,000 tabs open
Proglamer@reddit
Bookmarks is soooo boomerish 2000s. How's ICQ and Trillian treating you recently?
Kiwi_Doodle@reddit
I'll never understand these people. Once my tabs start to compress it's time to close a few.
Ozymandias_1303@reddit
I'm in this picture and I don't like it.
TomorrowUnable5060@reddit
Pathetic
Crimento@reddit
No reopening tabs on browser startup is the way to go
If you want something outside of now, you save it to bookmarks
smilerwithagun@reddit
literally me
Solara__@reddit
I must be the strange one turning off my pc every night. Using chrome with options not to save any tabs on close so I start every day with a fresh browser. When I want something later I either bookmark it, put it to the reading list or occasionally put the PC on sleep insted of turning it off.
Pure madness I know.
Slip_Snake@reddit
You have comment problems
MiniGui98@reddit
OP got downcommented
LurkersUniteAgain@reddit

Comprehensive-Pear43@reddit
My girlfriend was complaining to me that her phone is getting slow and she needs a new one. I open up her browser, 316 open tabs....like wtf
AlarmDozer@reddit
And here I am, I rarely have more than 10 open. It's usually when I'm comparing products or travel options, things like that. YouTube is always one tab or none.
YourAverageBrownDude@reddit
I would have closed the tabs and denied everything if it came up again. If it was important, tough luck. Find it again
The_Noremac42@reddit
At this point you should just take executive action and wipe out everything yourself.
Ephsylon@reddit
Imagine running 4 digit amount of tab on Chromium software...
drak0ni@reddit
Just make another playlist?
internetlad@reddit
You know, I don't think I've ever actually given less of a shit about a greentext than this one.
This is a literal non-issue. You just walk away.
Alexander_Russo@reddit
I am guilty of this. My Google Chrome has about 5000 tabs, most of which are youtube, and various google searches or "Interested in thing, let's study it" rabbit holes that I never closed.
surferos505@reddit
Buddy have you heard of a term called “Watch later” or “save to playlist”
986754321@reddit
Or just bookmark and close tab
Winder_Operator@reddit
For real you can make neat, organized folders for any bookmarks you want.
Leading_Double_1968@reddit
I don’t know how 😎
datboiwebber@reddit
Save yourself the insanity and just bookmark the pages and then close them so that if you do wanna go back, you could just click on the bookmark
datboiwebber@reddit
This method also allows you to sort things so if it’s searches related to the same thing, you can group them all together
Champomi@reddit
Half guilty of this with my 200 tabs. But they don't actually open unless I click on them so there's no loading delay when I open my single Firefox window
RunInRunOn@reddit
Most modern browsers let you make a bookmark with a single click
vincent2751@reddit
same, but for me about like 75% are stuff that I'll "study" later. I think I have a digital hoarding problem
Razorray21@reddit
Have you thought about turning off the computer
Sitting your brother down
And hitting him?
MachBrn@reddit
But those are his emotional support tabs
JoeyPlaysSomeGame@reddit
does nobody on earth shut down their computer when they go to bed???
Jenkinswarlock@reddit
No I watch plex during the night so my computer stays on
-boo--@reddit
RAMmaxxing tab enjoyer
MechwolfMachina@reddit
Mental illness
Xemxah@reddit
You can just save the youtube link in a text file for your watch later.
Probably fake and most definitely gay.
The1Zenith@reddit
Damn… I used to be so good at keeping a clean workspace. Things just got away from me and now, I’m just as guilty as OOP’s brother.
TheBlueEmerald1@reddit
This reminds me of the 50 youtube tabs I have open.
I need to reruce that at some point.
Oh hey a cooking blog! I'll add taht to the list for when I'm done with my 7 3 hour twitch vods.
Eantropix@reddit
"hey bro, so you know all of this stuff on top here? Yeah, those are tabs, and they consume memory. Doesn't matter how much RAM you put in, eventually they'll eat it up. So, you know, maybe if you are over 100 tabs, it may be time to check what you're doing and if you need all that. It's all on your history too, so you can just search for it if you miss it."
Anon lacks the most basic conversation skills
dinnerbird@reddit
Having a shit ton of tabs open must be the new normie thing. You suggest making bookmarks instead and they give you the fluoride stare
boykimma@reddit
Should have use firefox, even if there are 5000 tabs, when restore session it will just load the one tab you were on.
Champomi@reddit
You can actually select an option in the parameters to avoid that. Me and my 200 Firefox tabs are thriving, thank you very much
boykimma@reddit
Why would i want to avoid that lol, tab loading only when selected is like the thing i love most about firefox.
JellyKron@reddit
>opera gx
Fuck off.
SipoteQuixote@reddit
If i close the tab, it dies in real life!!
Reading_username@reddit
anon...
SpaceBug176@reddit
Anon asked his brother like a normal person. Obviously.
Boba0514@reddit
Rookie numbers, I had more open on my phone after a few years. It's hard work, getting rid of them, meh, I'll do it tomorrow...
