Currently flying around Houston, probably for fleet week.

E-2 Hawkeye plus 2 F/A-18 Super Hornets?
XenoRyet@reddit
Looks more like Vipers to me, but I guess the Hornets make more sense to be with a Hawkeye.
frix86@reddit
Those are for sure F-18s.
Phyrexian_Archlegion@reddit
Without a doubt.
reebokhightops@reddit
Indubitably.
Whiskey-Sippin-Pyro@reddit
Indeed
Careful_Party7336@reddit
I'm quite sure of it

Got 'em
C47man@reddit
I just can't see anything about those that looks like an f-16.
XenoRyet@reddit
Damn, this sub really doesn't like mistaken guesses, does it?
In any case, I thought I would be able to see the twin tails, even from this angle, and in the blurriness of the picture I thought I saw the single belly intake rather than the two of the Hornet.
Again, clearly I was wrong, and people feel pretty strongly about that, but that's what I was looking at.
LargeBloodyKnife@reddit
You replied to a correct guess with an incorrect guess. Of course you got downvoted.
XenoRyet@reddit
I'm not really concerned with the downvotes, but in fairness, I just said that's what it looks like to me and also conceded that the previous guess made more sense.
I'm not mad, just surprised. That's maybe the strongest response to what I thought would be the most innocuous of comments that I've seen in quite a while.
XBacklash@reddit
F16 has an almost unbroken curve from the nose to the wing root. F18s has leading edge extensions that break that simple curve back from the nose.

It's Reddit. I once suggested that someone that said they're a dentist on Reddit shouldn't be as influencial as a states governing dental body, and took a beating. I'll never financially recover from it.
Comment so that anyone here can downvote as well. https://www.reddit.com/r/personalfinance/s/3KMJategTV
XenoRyet@reddit
Heh, I feel like I should go downvote it just on principle. ;-)
But yeah, I've got several dump trucks full of karma, and it never did a damn thing for me, so I'm not worried about it.
E_sand80@reddit
I made a mistake on another sub. Admitted my mistake and still got slammed. At least these dudes are being slightly civil. Be confidently wrong in some of these subs will have someone putting a hit out on your dog.
C47man@reddit
The purpose of downvotes is to bury content that is incorrect, off topic, etc.
BagOfMoneyNoChange@reddit
You posted something obviously wrong on reddit. Confidently incorrect. Downvotes ensued.
The system is working as designed.
E_sand80@reddit
It’s 2 Super Hornets and a Hawkeye. They’re doing static displays at the Lone Star Flight Museum as part of Fleet Week. I spent enough time working on a Flight Deck, and on Naval Air Stations/Facilities that those silhouettes are pretty obvious to me.

I was a Tomcat guy, but I do have a special place in my heart for all things Grumman.

I was paddles. I’ve got a special place in my heart for the Big Fighter SHB in blower.
Also the cat shot-hunch - sexy AF
E_sand80@reddit
I did a cruise as a Cag Arm TL on the Waist.. nothing beats that Tomcat rumble when you’re close enough to slap the wing as it goes past on the Cat Shot.
hawkeye18@reddit
I was a .50 cal gunner on the 05-06 TR cruise at mount 51, way up at the end of the catapult... having Tomcats take off directly over my head at zone 5 is one of the core memories of my Navy experience :')

superbadj@reddit
For sure Super Hornets and an E-2. Absolutely not f-16s, wing shape is definitely the Rhino.

The fighters are some Hornet variant. Their rear horizontal stabs angle rearward. The stabs on a 16 are more perpendicular to the fuselage.
Spuzzell_@reddit
That's 2 jets (I think they possibly silhouette as F16s but the below comment is very likely right about them being Hornets as that is generally their mission) escorting a turboprop E2 Hawkeye.
