I bought this beauty at the weekend, a four-hour round trip

I made the mistake of selling my SX-64 a couple of years ago and have regretted it since, so when one was offered to me for sale complete with its original box and polystyrene inserts, I couldn't say no! I met the seller at the Scottish border, a couple of hours' drive each way. Next steps are to get it cleaned up, tested, and serviced.

Wait, you drive 4 hours, paid a huge amount of money, get it back home unpack it, took few pictures of it, and YOU DIDN'T START IT?!?!?

That was my reaction too.

Did you get the little velvet pouch for carrying the cables?
TheMightyMadman@reddit (OP)
Sadly not, it doesn’t have the pouch, disks, or user manual unfortunately

I love the fact that this SX-64 looks immaculate everywhere except the space bar, which looks like a narrow Butterfinger bar (in wrapper).

I have one of these and an absolute fondness for it. The thing about this computer though is that it didn't come with the full programming manual that the C64 came with. I really really missed out on some good stuff in there.

All I wanted was an SX-64 so that I could so show up those losers who hung out in the middle school computer room playing Apple ][ games and blabbing about how great those machines were. I could see my self: come waltzing into the computer room at lunch with my SX-64 by the handle in one hand and my floppy disk box holding ten of the best of my game collection in the other...hell yeah. I could prove to them how badass my beloved C=64 was compared to their fuzzy coloring, 1-bit tone generating, overpriced Apple ][s and make them jealous.
Alas, those machines were always too expensive back then, even when they were in the COMB phase of their lives. Pity.

"See babe, I told you keeping those boxes would be worth it."

Worth it!!!

Wow amazing. I always drooled over these!

I had a Compaq Portable. I believe his Commodore came out about the same time? And it had a color screen. I still read it very much, and still do!

Easiest 4 hour round trip ever! I never saw one in box before.
