RX 6950XT still worth it for 1440p? Looking to upgrade from an RX 7600 so I can get into 1440p QWHD gaming.

Mostly asking with the context of "future proofing" for the next 3ish years. Found a fair amount of used Ebay listings under $400, which seems like a good value for the performance you get for it.
I was originally looking at used 7900 GRE's but haven't found many decently under $500. The few that are have $15+ shipping, which makes them still around $500.
I mostly play competitive games at 144hz-165hz, and single player games like FFVII Remake at 120hz.
Thanks in advance.

9070 for a bit more is a better buy.

yeah for under $400 the 6950xt is still kinda a beast tbh
for 1440p you’ll be chilling in most games, especially competitive stuff. that card can easily push high fps at high settings, way more comfortable than a 7600. you’ll actually feel the jump
only thing is power draw + heat, it’s a bit of a hungry card lol so just make sure your psu/case airflow is solid
vs 7900 gre, yeah gre is nicer (newer, more efficient), but if it’s \~$100 more, the 6950xt is honestly better value rn. “future proofing” for 3 years at 1440p? yeah it’ll hold up fine unless you’re chasing ultra + max everything in every new AAA
if the deal is clean and the card’s in good condition, i’d say go for it

I rocked an Asrock formula OC 6900xt for a year or so, and it is currently in my buddy's system and he's super happy with it.
for 1440p you can probably count the number of games on one hand that you might feel like you need more grunt, and those probably due to forced RT
Ordinary_Breath_8732@reddit
yeah that’s been my experience too tbh, those 6900/6950xt cards are still super strong for 1440p unless you’re really pushing heavy RT or trying to max out every new AAA, they barely struggle kinda crazy how well they’ve held up over time makes them such a good value pick right now compared to newer midrange cardss

Thanks for the info. Taking the power draw + heat into consideration, I'm swapping cases at the same I plan to upgrade anyway (moving to an Antec Flux). I'll undervolt as well.. Power itself isn't an issue though, as I have a 80 Plus Gold 1200W PSU (overkill I know).
I also generally don't play new AAA games anyway as well. (Don't care about ray tracing either)
Thanks again.

Glad

Like others are saying the 6950xt is a rasterization beast definitely get it
epiclessmaster@reddit
I have a RX6900XT and playing games @1440P. Its a freaking beast.
I suggest you to undervolt it. Mine was using 255W without it and now uses 200W without performance loss.

Will do.

The 6950XT kicks ass if you can get a good price go for it!
Cute_Customer420@reddit
not exactly future proof in a card that has already stopped receiving new driver support
GreatKangaroo@reddit
I've been using a 6750XT for 1440p gaming, not competitive but single player AA and AAA games and it's solid. A 6950XT would definitely work well at 1440p at higher fps.

I have had one for a bit over three years and have no plans to upgrade. Nothing in any brands GPU line up seems worth it right now. I first had it paired with a 5600X and it was an upgrade in that build from a 3060 ti. I moved it over to a new 9800X3D build in October of last year. It runs Battlefield 6 wonderfully.
Cyber_Data_Trail@reddit
6950xt is a pure raster powerhouse. Go for it
Protoclown98@reddit
I still use mine and it is great. Probably not gonna upgrade.
Not sure if id buy one today, I think a 9070xt works better but depends on your budget.
