Need a new hoover, what one is the best?

I recently came into the market for a new hoover, the shark we used to have decided it didn't want to work anymore after the smallest pice of plastic broke form it and it is somehow fundamental to the hoover.
I need something that is good with pet hair as I have two cats, both I am still surprised are not bald with the amount of hair they leave around my house!
Personally I like Henry (because of the face) but he is in the shed at the moment as I like to bring him out for the big jobs around the house, but he has been out quite a lot recently as has been filling in for the shark, I would keep him as the main hoover but my wife doesn't like the look he gives her.
Shall I stick with another shark or has anyone had anything better?
I don't really want a Dyson as the mother in law has one.

Get the pink Henry. Henrietta?
ZoltanGertrude@reddit
Henry. Bomb proof. Get the one that also sucks water, it doesn't have the EU reduced motor so sucks like ...erm .. a Harley Davidson.
Oph195@reddit (OP)
Had one around 8 years ago, best thing I have ever used, managed to kick it off a roof I was working on.
That was a sad day

Surely, a bit of Gorilla tape and it would have been good to go!?
chez2202@reddit
Buy a roll of masking tape.
Stick it over Henry’s eyes when you use him. It’s the only tape that won’t damage them. He can’t give your wife the evil eye if he’s blindfolded can he?
I actually have a Hoover hoover. It has the anti hair wrap thing going on, you can remove the foot section so that it’s lighter and more portable for stairs etc., it has a pet accessory and it has no eyes.

I had a portable Hoover hoover, it was awful. It seems like you get in with the bigger model ok?
chez2202@reddit
Yes. It’s the bigger model but the actual crap collector section is removable from the bottom so I can carry it upstairs and use the hose with a smaller foot for cleaning. I am happy to say that I am hernia free so the fact that half of the weight stays downstairs is obviously beneficial

I had a housemate who had a fantastic Kärcher hoover. It sounded like an aeroplane taking off but it had ridiculous suction power!! It was a bag type one.

I had a Henry for years, loved it but got fed up with lugging it up & down stairs, let alone hoovering the stairs. Bought a Henry Quick Pro - a rechargeable stick type - to replace it last summer. It's great. I vacuum a lot more often now because it's so easy to grab & use :)

I have a terrible Dyson at the moment and had been thinking about a Henry Quick as we have the mains powered one at work and it’s fantastic. So it works then?
Anon_on_internet@reddit
It works great for me but bear in mind we're a household of two with no pets. I don't see why it wouldn't work for busier homes.
My only minor gripe is that when I'm using the main head and turn the brush off for hard floors, I'd like the light to stay on.
zamoflo@reddit
I got sick of lugging the big Henry about so got a Henry quick in the sales last year and it’s really good! They do a pet version too
carnage2006@reddit
Just purchased an Amazon own brand. £48 and had to turn down the power as on full power couldn't move the bloody thing as was pulling the carpet up.
Admittedly it is a plug in one but has resigned the shark to a handheld crumb vacuum now.

I've given up on Dyson and Shark, having only used them for years. I have a Miele C3 Complete Pet vac and it's incredible. Worth every penny and their customer service has been phenomenal.
If you get a Miele, sign up for their emails and you can get bags and filters when they're on offer. A bag lasts about 3 months and there's no more washing filters like with the cyclone vacs.
BismarkBogmark@reddit
Agreed. I've had Dyson, Hoover, Phillips and more over the years and nothing comes close to my current Miele C3
LadyInAllPower@reddit
Henry is best for performance in my experience, but can be difficult to lug around

I’m a professional carpet and upholstery cleaner. Myself and most of my colleagues use Sebo.
publiusnaso@reddit
We have two ancient Sebos. They are superb, and on the rare occasion anything goes wrong or breaks they are ludicrously easy to fix. They are beautifully designed.
EntrepreneurAway419@reddit
Get a refurbished one, I went for a henry extra, think it was £96 from direct vacuums, perfect condition
Oph195@reddit (OP)
That's where my current Henry is from, its been good other than when I took it out the box and the handle snapped
EntrepreneurAway419@reddit
Nooo! Hopefully they dealt with it, I've been debating getting a henry quick pet from there too for daily cleans but I do see people ravieing about miele and sebo felix's everywhere
Oph195@reddit (OP)
unfortunately I ripped the box like a child and couldn't be bothered to send him back! Henrys are so good, and DIY I do I always use him!!
Wife hate him for his weight and the eyes!

My dream vacuum cleaner is a Miele. Ive settled for a Karcher wet/dry that i purchased a turbo head for though as it was only £53.
Copes with the hair form 3 cats and a dog, and the suction on it is amazing. Had it since Just after New Years and ive not needed to empty it yet either.
GonnaGetTheWonka@reddit
Keep forgetting people call all vacuums a hoover (brand) 😂
Best vacuum… I’ve owned a Henry, it’s outlived everything. Not very light but absolutely indestructible.
Horror_Nobody_3509@reddit
Miele. If they still do the Cat and Dog then buy that. Mine is over 25 years old now and is still sucking up the cat fur.
FlippedHope@reddit
Definitely a Miele. I love the one I have now. Having been a cleaner in many people's houses, I've used many different vacuum cleaners and hands down Miele are best for both performance and longevity.
Namiweso@reddit
No issues with my shark. The anti hair wrap attachment is really good with pet hairs.
Just don’t get the bottom barrel sharks. You get what you pay for. Think mine was just under £300
Naive_Reach2007@reddit
Sebo or Miele tbh, both bagged systems.
Miele do a cat and dog, Sebo will be heavier but is great
rumbugger@reddit
I've had 2 Miele hoovers in the past 20 years, and wouldn't go for anything else. The first one would probably still be alive today if my wife hadn't broken it.
Mediocre-Spell-6090@reddit
Miele is what I have as well. It's the best. Even the small model does such a great job.
CalligrapherShort121@reddit
Dyson mains powered are good. Had two of the rechargeable ones - both packed up after a year. Also had a Vax. Made really nice hoovering sounds but didn’t actually hoover anything. Rather like a child’s pretend toy. Have a Shark now that’s about 5 years old - just as good as Dyson and it’s still working. Wouldn’t risk anything else.
rooooosa@reddit
Miele hoovers are incredible.
YouWascallyWabbit@reddit
I love my Miele C3 but it is bagged. I like pulling all the dirt out and binning it, the bagless felt faffy to me (I have long hair, it's messy).
nonoanddefinitelyno@reddit
We have a fancy Shark expensive thing. It's good, but not worth £300+. Bought it to replace expensive Dyson that was a bit shit and kept breaking.
The BEST vacuum I ever had was an old Dyson - that was a beast. Fuck knows what's happened to them.
