Is Brandt… like… in love with the Big Lebowski?

Not even joking. The way he hovers, the way he laughs at EVERYTHING the guy says like it’s the funniest thing he’s ever heard, the weird nervous energy, the devotion. It’s giving hardcore Waylon Smithers to Mr. Burns vibes.

Like if the Big Lebowski said “the sky is green” Brandt would be like “HAHA yes sir, incredibly green sir, brilliant observation sir” while slowly dissolving into the background.

But then I can’t tell if I’m overthinking it and it’s just Philip Seymour Hoffman playing the most repressed, corporate, soul-dead assistant of all time. Like the final form of a yes-man.

So what’s the deal? Was he meant to be gay and obsessed with Lebowski, or is it just a perfect satire of rich-guy orbiters who’ve completely erased their personality?
