If only it wasn't for the boat accident I had last summer...

Some of the new generation air rifles/pistols are outstanding and worth a look. They are not serialized or registered with the government

Just because it’s against the company’s policy doesn’t mean it’s illegal. But you have to be really careful in certain states. Gun and ammo must be kept separate and locked up. So basically when you need it it’s too late.
Unique-Ad-2544@reddit
Certain states? You mean 99% of states
StonedTrucker@reddit
Most states allow you to carry. Several of them just require permits
indytrucks@reddit
29 states are constitutional carry states.
___GRUMPY___@reddit
Not at all. You don’t have to keep them separated in TN, GA,TX and OK for sure.
Overall_Reputation83@reddit
unless you have a local gig where you can stay within one state, this is a dumb idea.
IllustriousLeek39@reddit
I carry. Most states are constitutional carry. When I visit a state that doesn’t have constitutional carry or reciprocity with mine I keep it locked up. Separate from the ammo. I only carry ball ammo as hollow points get you in trouble in some eastern states.
kloyoh@reddit
So when u need to use it...hold on let me load it...naw my shit ready to go
IllustriousLeek39@reddit
The only state I run like that is Illinois. I run with police escorts everytime I’m in IL. The chances of me needing the weapon are far less than the chances a trooper would notice I have one. When the truck is parked overnight the weapon is ready to go.
TruckerDono@reddit
It's too much of a pain in the ass if you're going through multiple states
indytrucks@reddit
I keep a Winkler in my cab. 😉
daemonescanem@reddit
Ive had cops in different areas ask if I was armed not because they wanted to hassle me but for my own protection.
Also had some want to know to see if they could hassle me.
Frankly I wouldnt consider it with my company. Getting caught with it on company property is enough for termination.
Silent-Room-4987@reddit
The smart ones that do wont broadcast on the internet that they do. Js.

Done it for years. A few things worth thinking about before you do:
Every state has different laws on carry, some require permits, some are constitutional carry, some have restrictions on carrying in commercial vehicles. Know exactly what the laws are in every state you run through, ignorance won't protect you if you get pulled over in Illinois with a pistol under your seat.
The company policy thing is the real risk. They can't arrest you but they can fire you on the spot and depending on your contract it could affect your CDL record or future employment. Weigh that seriously.
That said, you're out here alone, sometimes in sketchy truck stops at 2am with $50k of freight behind you. Nobody is coming to help you fast. That's just reality.
If you do it, do it right. Get your permit even if your state doesn't require it, it gives you reciprocity in more states. Keep it secured and accessible only to you. And for the love of god don't tell dispatch or post about it on company forums.
Your safety is yours to protect.

If you want to carry a firearm, concealed or not, with you on the truck, you need to know the rules for each state you expect to travel in. All it takes is one bad day and a pissy cop and suddenly you’re in real trouble.
Spankpocalypse_Now@reddit
Last time I got stopped by DOT, he asked me probably five different times if I had a firearm in the truck.
Naborsx21@reddit
Whhaaaa but that's against Schneider's policy! I'd never!
ApollyonFE@reddit
I go to Canada and Mexico, if I'm y going to prison for anything, I hope it's something less stupid than carrying 🤣
Future-Slide5757@reddit
mate heading to canada with a piece is genuinely one of the dumbest ways to catch a felony, they do not mess about at the border
would rather explain to my boss why i'm unarmed than explain to a judge why i thought it was worth the risk
GoodGoodGoody@reddit
Canada doesn’t have the misdemeanour-felony system but they will jail your ass for unauthorized firearm possession, transport, storage,…
And after jail you’re banned.
And they fucking know that Bubba from Arkansas is a good one to check.
Radiant_Swan187@reddit
Well they're going to start jailing people for legal guns. So yea safe to say
GoodGoodGoody@reddit
No they’re not.
But try to play the persecuted gun nut even harder.
Mediocre_george@reddit
The most important part of carrying a concealed weapon is that nobody knows you have it.
AntonChentel@reddit
You can find a new job.
You can’t find a new body.

LMAOOO
Specialist_Taro8087@reddit
Even if your company does not allow it people are still carrying.
opinionated_penguin@reddit
Used to but eventually left it at home. Didn’t seem necessary at least in my case
