Wanting to upgrade from console, not sure where to start!

I have around $1500 to spend including taxes and I can’t go much over that, maybe $1550 at most. I already have a 1440p monitor so thats what I plan to play at. I play both competitive and story games and I want this to last me a decent while, 5ish years would be nice. Located in the US, I’d prefer not to buy used as I don’t really know what I’m doing or looking for. I would like the Montech XR or a similar looking case if possible. Thanks in advance!!

I’ve been seeing a lot of prebuilts being a much better value than building yourself. I would look at Costco if you don’t live near a microcenter

Honestly with your budget you will probably have to go with a 5060 build. Maybe you should save a little longer to get something better

I just built this https://pcpartpicker.com/list/CY74n2 and Newegg bundled my mobo, CPU, and RAM with a discount plus included the CPU cooler as a free gift so my actual final cost was closer to like $1400.
I would see if you can get a similar bundle deal on whatever parts you choose

Get a Costco prebuilt

Yeah prebuilts are the move these days and Costco has incredible deals comparatively

look up “newegg bundle builder” for the cpu, motherboard, and ram, the cooler comes with the cpu for free. for the gpu and power supply just hit the “buy” button by the rx 9070 and it’ll automatically take you to the newegg page

This should hopefully be a decent starting point: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/YnC8MF
Good lord ram and ssds are expensive right now.

This is out of my budget:( But thanks anyway

I updated with a second link that's only $10 over, but with either, you can use that website to modify the build as you need.
The video card could probably get swapped for a 9060XT 16GB and save $50-100 for example.
