This was posted a few days ago. Unfortunately, the C&D article seems to be entirely conjecture. For example, it assumes a 4-cylinder base from the CT4-V, which would I suppose compete with the EcoBoost Mustang. But a V6 seems just as likely
Ok-Heron-128@reddit
4 cylinder is more likely for European market
AndreLeGeant88@reddit
Would a GM 4-cylinder meet Euro7 standards?
ThatoneJira@reddit
I hope the V8 will
ThatoneJira@reddit
Like here you can't buy the Ecoboost only dark horse and gt
NISMO1968@reddit (OP)
Camaro will keep a 2.7L ~300 hp turbo inline-4 as the worldwide base motor, replacing the n/a V6, while the V8s will do the heavy lifting.
magnament@reddit
A bubble engine 4.4 is likely for the bubble princess kingdom
Funkytadualexhaust@reddit
Hey, if you want me to take a dump in a box and call it likely, I will.
samurai1226@reddit
You might think that, but they offered the 4 Cyl and V8 Option for the European Camaro 6 and the 4 Cyl sales tanked hard. Barely anybody bought this car since if you buy an American pony in Europe you usually want the V8 too.
Smart happened to the mustang, they tried to market the Ecoboost with different approach and special models, but in the end they cancelled the Ecoboost model for Europe entirely so you can only order the V8 models
RiftHunter4@reddit
As long as there's a cheap base model I can low-ball on.
mr_bots@reddit
I’m not seeing a V6 in the new Camaro, GM doesn’t really have any left on their parts shelf to grab.
AndreLeGeant88@reddit
The CT5 has two different V6 configurations
mr_bots@reddit
With the next gen XT5 and blazer expecting to get the 2.5T I4, they’re all that’s left of the HFV6, I don’t see it having much time left.
DodgerBlueRobert1@reddit
If you look at OP's post history, they'll make a post and then hardly ever engage in said post. They're doing it just for upvotes.
RIP_Soulja_Slim@reddit
C&D article's headline really should say "The New 2028 Chevy Camaro might be an American V-8-Powered Pony Car Worth Waiting For"
trail-g62Bim@reddit
It's amazing how often stuff gets reposted considering how few articles get posted at all.

A new V-8 Camaro in 2028, just in time to battle the Chinese cars we take off protectionism list. Great job GM!
AndreLeGeant88@reddit
I hate to break it to you but those Chinese cars won't be coming into the US market
ocmaddog@reddit
After we take the tariff off bc the Big 3 are asleep at the wheel? I think the Chinese would relish the opportunity to embarrass these moron CEOs
AndreLeGeant88@reddit
The US won't remove tariffs or import restrictions because the US companies are "asleep at the wheel." Remember, too, the Japanese and Koreans don't want them here, either.
ocmaddog@reddit
Transportation is one of the biggest household expenditures. We can save people 10% easily by simply allowing competition. GM wants a new V8 Camaro in 2028 and protectionism that amounts to another bailout? Enough.
AndreLeGeant88@reddit
Americans refuse to buy EVs en masse at this point. The idea that bringing in even cheaper EVs sold at a price intended to put non-Chinese companies under will have a positive effect is silly
ocmaddog@reddit
The Canadians get to import the best cars in the world, we are stuck with expensive mediocrity. Doesn’t that bother you as a car guy?
AndreLeGeant88@reddit
Best cars in the world posts image of Chinese EV graveyard
ocmaddog@reddit
CEO of Ford disagrees with you, and whines that it isn't fair Chinese EVs are so good.
AndreLeGeant88@reddit
I don't think he claims they are so good it is unfair. It's the quality to construction cost ratio of the particular vehicle he mentioned. Again, China controls costs because they control every level of supply.
ocmaddog@reddit
This is simply cope. The Big 3 are focusing on V8 Camaros on legacy tech when the technology in the cars and in the factories is getting reinvented. Firms like Tesla and Rivian are nearly keeping pace with the Chinese with a fraction of the resources of the Big 3. The Big 3 simply are stacking short term profits and hoping for another bailout in the form of protectionism.
AndreLeGeant88@reddit
Stellantis did a huge EV push as did GM. There isn't even a new Camaro announced. If there is, it'll be a niche product like all Camaros have been. It's like saying VW or BMW are focused on V8s.
StonedBooty@reddit
Just in time for gas to be $5/gallon in the US
hundredjono@reddit
I was paying more for gas 4 years ago in 2022 than I am now.
Gas prices are high right now, but they're not even close to reaching 2022 levels of absurdity.
stoned-autistic-dude@reddit
Just like the last time!
hundredjono@reddit
If we get a new Camaro this is how I hopefully see it:
Camaro LS: Base model, gets the 2.7 from the CT4 (310hp; 350lb-ft)
Camaro LT: Standard 2.7 liter, but the 3.6 twin turbo V6 from the CT4 Blackwing is optional (472hp; 445lb-ft)
Camaro 1SS/2SS: Will share the same 6.7 liter LS6 from the new C8 Grand Sport (535hp; 520lb-ft)
Camaro ZL1: Will share the same 5.5 liter LT6 from the C8 Z06 (670hp; 460lb-ft)

Repost of a nothing article
T-Baaller@reddit
"worth waiting for"
Fuck that, Common Car journo L kind of take for a clickbait-slop of a headline.
With a segment that is absolutely not growing, the best sports cars are the ones you (whatever your situation is) can buy now.
Get out and enjoy your sports cars, don't waste your life comparing stats read online.
Fonzdj@reddit
I thought the Camaro was gone already?
DodgerBlueRobert1@reddit
It is gone already. But it's coming back.
Dan_TheGreat@reddit
id hoped that sick 4 door render/maybe car show concept picture i saw somewhere had some validity.
Anyways, 50-60k car. 2/10 hype.
thisisjustascreename@reddit
But will you be able to see out of it?
PROfessorShred@reddit
Sure! You enjoy views out of a military pill box right?
costafilh0@reddit
No it doesn't.
What will it have that you can't get with previous Gen or Mustang or Previous Gen Challenger?
If it is worth waiting, the changes will also probably make it much more expensive.
CarsAreRad@reddit
Wait, the Camaro is coming back?
Marshall_Lawson@reddit
the camaro never came back after 2002 imo
ryguy32789@reddit
GM Authority says it will be some form of sedan, and that GM has not committed to even calling it a Camaro. Just that it's a "Camaro replacement"
I think it's just as likely it will be named Impala, Malibu, or Bel Air
Lucreth2@reddit
Chevelle please
R_V_Z@reddit
Best they can do is Chevette.
AndreLeGeant88@reddit
I think a RWD Impala would be just as likely IF the Buick rumor weren't out there. If I'm looking at an Impala, I'm just as likely to look at a Buick. It would be dumb to make a RWD Chevy sedan when the Buick exists
RamboMcQueen@reddit
Just giving my opinion, but it sounds like an opportunity for them to cash in on the Grand National name. I doubt it would be a worthy successor, but I wouldn’t put it past them to do something like that.
AndreLeGeant88@reddit
A lot depends on what the do with Cadillac. Will they keep the 4-cylinder base? Will they go the other direction and only make the Blackwing?
RamboMcQueen@reddit
Fair, does give the idea that they could ‘covert’ the CT-4 into a base model Grand National or Regal then offer a V6 version as the GNX. Probably makes too much sense for them.
NISMO1968@reddit (OP)
Sounds about right! I’d wanna eyeball it on the dealer’s lot first, though…
Proper_Speaker9662@reddit
Buick and Cadillac rear wheel drive sedan will also have a Chevrolet Camaro sibling. No real details yet on any of this.
CarsAreRad@reddit
Brother this is what I like to hear.
Lucreth2@reddit
It will probably be a sedan.
TreesACrowd@reddit
"Somehow, the Camaro returned"
Sarah_hussain09@reddit
Yes...
CallLivesMatter@reddit
GM has gotten good at making their cars look like what buyers expect. This is a Camaro that looks like a Camaro. The C8 Corvette looks like what a mid engine Corvette would look like. An Escalade looks like an Escalade, irrespective of which generation we’re talking about. They don’t seem to have any weird need to deviate from what their customers have liked in the past.
purz@reddit
I feel like that’s Stellanis not GM lol. Corvette looks boring and not all the Corvettey. Camaro has been too bulky and eh for awhile now. They all drive incredible though but I wish they’d just steal Stellanis’s design team. They’ve done a way better job keeping the old look and making it modern. They would probably make a killer modernized 60s or 70s Camaro.
AndreLeGeant88@reddit
That image is just a rendering based on the 6th gen Camaro
CallLivesMatter@reddit
Didn’t realize that.
Ok_Field_5701@reddit
For these few examples you’ve provided, yeah. I still have no idea what the hell the difference is between any of their other SUVs: Blazer, Trailblazer, Equinox, Trax… all the same shit to me. The new Traverse looks a lot better, but those others just seem like filler vehicles that are easily forgettable.
CallLivesMatter@reddit
I should have specified I was referring to their non-egg blahmobiles. Because yeah, you just named four vehicles that I think I could differentiate if they were lined up in front of me, but if one passed me in traffic I wouldn’t be so sure.
fordprefect294@reddit
Then why does Chevy keep canceling it?

“Ah man I just got this new Sentra, it’s not the coolest but unfortunately there aren’t many cool affordable sedans left-“
GM the next fucking day:
8rings_86k@reddit
Well if you’re buying a Sentra, a new Buick or Cadillac weren’t on your shopping list to begin with
terrrastar@reddit
I mean my shopping list consisted of basically anything under the $40k range so😭
Lamborghini4616@reddit
Who is cross shopping a Sentra with a Camaro or Cadillac?
KourteousKrome@reddit
This was posted yesterday as well. I’ll save you a click: There’s nothing in the article. It’s literally just someone wondering what the Camaro will be. That’s it.
Bumbleboy92@reddit
“Our sources say” may as well be the article quota for the month
FatMonkeyMilk@reddit
That pic looks good
alien_believer_42@reddit
It's just a random artist illustration so don't take any stock in it
Bumbleboy92@reddit
Not even, it’s AI through Gemini
pablxo@reddit
Agreed, I'm getting a mix of the best parts of the 6th gen Camaro, the C8, and some Supra in there all blended to create this.
It looks really good
Mojave_Idiot@reddit
Lift back, 6.7, tremec, last call.
InfinitePossibility8@reddit
I’ll believe it when I see it.
kon---@reddit
Decreased visibility and way too many lines in that render. It doesn't look cool. It looks confused. Confused and has no idea what it wants to be.
AndreLeGeant88@reddit
The render doesn't even match the rumors, which include a liftback.
Brazilian_in_YYZ@reddit
I love it. However, I believe when I see it. There is a lot of buzz and no prototype…. They are mentioning 2028… When I see a design and specs I will start working on my budget…
Ok_Combination_4482@reddit
I thought they had discontinued this. If they had y bring it back? And if its worthy of bringing back y discontinue?
AndreLeGeant88@reddit
Some of it is due to complex decisions around factory utilization. The CT4 and Camaro overlapped considerably and neither had great sales at the end. The CT5-V and Blackwing have done well. They also saw that Buick buyers and Lincoln cross-buyers seemed to miss sedans. So they have found a way to optimize Lansing plant production with three lower volume cars, and we should expect them to fill different niches:
KyledKat@reddit
Camaro rumors have been all over the place for a decade. The narrative, in so far as I can tell, was that a Gen 7 was planned on the Alpha II chassis, but cancelled when the CT4 and CT5 were getting the axe, and then it was supposed to be moved to the VSS-R chassis underpinning the new CT6 in China, but now actually the CT5 is chugging on along and there will now be a new Alpha chassis underpinning 3 vehicles in GM, one of which is likely going to be a Camaro.
