I looked at pivot but would like to stay under $150

Pivotcase.com for all your answers

For GA flying the pivot case is so wildly unnecessary
Crafty-Inevitable874@reddit
I just like it because I absolutely abuse my ipad.
MehCFI@reddit
I mean you can get a crazy just as durable case for a third of that. The pivot exclusive features aren’t necessary for GA
Crafty-Inevitable874@reddit
it's nice cause the planes I fly have permanent mounts for the ipad in each plane. no suction cup shenanigans.

I fly GA with pivot case.
Works great.
What makes it 'wildly unnecessary'?

Thats well over $150 with the leg strap

Worth every penny

Look up Quad Lock. They don't have a knee board but if you can mount it to the yoke, they have something for that. Or else suction mount it to the window.

Been using one of these recently, super cheap and works perfectly, easily pull it off or stick it on when you need

You’re spending 10s of thousands on a PPL… invest in quality gear. You’ll be happy you did. If $150 scares you, I’m not sure how far into training you’ll get.

Take a look at MyClip available at my pilot store.com

Second this. Have had mine for 6 years and it has held up great.

What type of flying?
Most of the time, a knee board case is way overkill for most GA flying.
