Going from a 5700x to a x3d one would fix my bottleneck?

GPU is the 9070XT I had some not so great experiences in games like space marine 2 and cyberpunk wich kinda made me sad, especially since this GPU upgrade was very heavy on my wallet, since I cant go to am5 now (cause of money). Do you guys think the x3d cpu's could save me?
Cause I don't know if my hopes were too high, but it kinda hurts seeing your game go to the 60s in 1440p and not even fsr helping it
Or maybe im just looking more at the msi afterburner than the game idnk realy kinda lost here
versusvius@reddit
These 20 bottleneck posts every day are getting boring. Pretty sure the 5700x gives more than 60fps in any game and at 1440p the bottleneck is minimum with that gpu.
New-Meeting9007@reddit
Honestly I wouldn’t bother getting 60 fps even if it was a first person shooter
60 fps is decent I don’t know why people make such a drama about fps and shit. If it works on 60+ it’s fine by me
Old_Information_8654@reddit
I don’t know why your being downvoted I game on a office laptop and most titles I play at a locked 30 FPS and games like GTA 5 and fallout 4 play perfectly fine at 30 FPS especially when that’s literally how they started on console
New-Meeting9007@reddit
Well honestly I don’t care abt these downvotes just shows how much people care …
Old_Information_8654@reddit
Too many people forget what it was like to play games at 30 fps on a 360 or PS3 even many Xbox one and PS4 games are at a locked 30 for one reason or another I don’t understand the obsession people constantly have with chasing frames especially if the game already looks really good
New-Meeting9007@reddit
I can understand if you want to up your frames and it doesn’t work that it can be disappointing because that’s like a lot of money spend for nothing
But not everyone can benefit from these parts because of their prices. I mean I bet there’s a lot of people who can’t play games properly because of their setup but don’t have the money to upgrade
Old_Information_8654@reddit
Oh yeah I know the feeling there I spent 800 dollars including tax on a micro center bundle with a 9800x3d back in December but I can’t afford the case PSU SSD or GPU so I’m stuck with a bunch of useless parts
Vekxt@reddit (OP)
I get that 60 fps is ok to a lot of people but I did this upgrade with the intention of going beyond that, If I wanted a 60fps experience, I could buy a way more budget card and play everything in that frame rate.
If 60 is enough or not is not the point, the point is that the card is not giving the performance it should and Im looking for solutions.
New-Meeting9007@reddit
Oh alright. Thanks for clarifying. I may also not have read your whole post sorry
SkilledChestnut@reddit
it is not minimum, you dont know what you are talking about
-UserRemoved-@reddit
"not so great experiences" doesn't tell us any of the issues you are experiencing, or what kinds of upgrades would make the most difference to you. We don't have context to determine if X3D CPUs would benefit you at all.
Then turn off your FPS counter and just play your games
It's free to turn it off, and your experience is entirely your opinion.
Vekxt@reddit (OP)
the not so great: GPU stays at 85% max, the FPS around 80-100 with heavy drops to the 60's, and no graphic setting or upscaling can help improve performance even tho the card can give double that almost with a more with a proper cpu, I was asking if the x3d version of my CPU could HELP ME reach better avarage fps and in these titles because that was NOT what I was expecting with this card.
Sorry that if I was not "technical"l was venting out, thinking I made a bad choice.
-UserRemoved-@reddit
In this case, an X3D CPU would likely benefit you. You can use benchmarks to compare expected differences, for example:
techspot.com/review/2449-amd-ryzen-5800x3D/
If you know the difference, then you can look up pricing in your area for 5000 series X3D CPUs, as these would not require upgrading mobo and RAM as well.
IMO, it would make a much bigger difference ugprading to AM5 here and would be more worth the money, but that will likely cost a decent amount more.
I would certainly stop staring at metrics first though, arbitrary numbers mean nothing and it's illogical to fixate on these numbers instead of focusing on playing your games, which is why you bought the PC in the first place.
Vekxt@reddit (OP)
I made this post cause I can probably get my hands on a 5700x3d with a friend trading my 5700x and paying him like 60$ (in my currency) I think that's a good deal if I can grab it
jaminvi@reddit
I wish you had led with that. It's a no-brainer.
The x3d processors have significantly more better gaming performance.
PrettyQuick@reddit
Your friend is stupid. Take advantage of it.
Lowosero@reddit
DO IT!
nvanderw@reddit
$60 to go 3d sounds worth it bit why not just ask him if you can do a test run after installing it?
MrWendal@reddit
Used 5000 series x3D chips cost more than a brand new 7800x3D. You were right when you said OP should go AM5, or just enjoy what they have. A 5700x3d would improve performance by about 20% at best and OP would be right back where they are now in maybe two years, having thrown $500 into a last gen platform.
Sumeung-Gai@reddit
Yes
T2_daBest@reddit
This sound about what it should be for that GPU. I don't have same but a 225f and 5070ti I get about 80-100 and use framegen to get to 120 and it runs smooth
ChocolateNeat4489@reddit
You mentioned x3d for an extra $60, that's a bargain, you will benefit greatly from this swap.
Some settings are exceptionally heavy on the CPU (for e.g. crowd density in cyberpunk ) so the performance just tanks, regardless of the system. Do we have to have everything maxed out , though? CP2077 still looks great with medium crowd density. I never switch the RT on, even though I could - the framerate hit is just not worth it to me, I would rather up other settings or keep my computer cooler. Well designed games still look good without more realistically reflecting paddles. PC gives you the option to run the games as YOU like it, utilise it.
iate5trains@reddit
is it worth it if a 5700x3d is like 330$ from where I live
XiTzCriZx@reddit
Depends what the price of them are in your country, in many places a 5700x3D is only like $100 cheaper than a full 9600x setup (including motherboard and ram with a bundle). At that price it's more worth it to upgrade to AM5 and sell your AM4 setup as it'd end up being cheaper.
defenestrate_@reddit
What is your ram like?
Any-Can-6776@reddit
It will help
damien24101982@reddit
It would most certainly improve your experience.
Due_Permission4658@reddit
i had a 5070ti with a 5800xt which is basically the same as a 5700x and although i did see bottleneck i had a way bit more than 60fps like 80++ played ,cyberpunk rdr2 etc dont think its worth upgrading to 5700x3d/5800x3d especially with prices there too overpriced asf chips ain’t worth 350$ +++ crazy for a 3 YEAR OLD USED cpu on a dead platform with no upgrade path after that hell even a 9600x would beat those chips and it’s like 185$ lowest i’d just save and wait for am5
SkilledChestnut@reddit
YES. I did that upgrade from 5600x to 5700x3d and performance uplift is great and my gpu is finally utilized in 100% and 1% lows improved a lot.
ponker669@reddit
I priced up going for a x3D upgrade from a 5800x and it was £300, if i wanted to get 32gb ddr4 ram it’ll be £100 on top. For £600 you can get a 7500x3D, 16gb ddr5, b650M-A and a cooler, imo it’d be worth saving for and selling your current mobo, ram and cpu for an upgrade similar when you can afford it.
xRichard@reddit
What's your screen? Res and freq
What's your desired performance?
misteryk@reddit
If you're willing to spend $400 on a 5700x3d just sell your mobo and ram and get AM5 build at this point
Kikuriath@reddit
technically it should help a bit but the difference won't be a lot (around 20%)
kazzek_@reddit
I did the same upgrade - in CPU heavy titles like Battlefield 6 my framerate literally doubled in 1440p (60-90 avg to 140-180)
no6969el@reddit
20% is a lot when you want to improve a result.
Kikuriath@reddit
its only 12 fps when you're getting 60, and 20 when you're getting 100 so personally its not worth a lot considering the prices of X3D CPUs
raydialseeker@reddit
Bigger than the difference between a 5070ti and 5080 btw
TragicBrons0n@reddit
Which is not a lot?
Kagemand@reddit
It might help on minimum frame rates which is what he is talking about.
Kikuriath@reddit
in that case yeah it would definitely help (with games that do utilize v cache atleast)
FenrisVeor@reddit
If you run some Cinebench and 3dMark benchmarks, and share the results here, there are a bunch of us with the same combo of 5700X and 9070XT that can help evaluate your results.
If you haven’t tuned and overclocked your setup there is probably some performance to unlock there.
SultanHalil-IV@reddit
What's your CPU usage? Does ist max out at?
Crowley120@reddit
Not too sure if it would help a lot in your situation but I have a 4080 and 5800x3d and I don’t really see any meaningful bottleneck at all in 1440 p and especially in 4 k so I think the upgrade will be meaningful especially in a cpu intensive game like space marine 2 but idk if the experiences are similar since I lean on Dlss for the more graphically intensive titles
Crowley120@reddit
Read your other comments and if your 1% lows are what’s dropping to 60 the 5800x3d v cache will definetly improve that. Might be hard finding a 5800x3d lower than 350-400 right now though. Definitely cheaper than a full am5 upgrade tho 5700x3d is only very slightly worse
Professional-Fig-134@reddit
I’ve found my 9070 xt to be mostly good, but it is not plug and play like my last Nvidia card. You will have to go through the lame andrenlin software and adjust your settings and features accordingly, and in some cases game graphics’s settings. Google and google AI are your friend for finding which solution will work for the game you are playing. That being said your 5700x is likely bottlenecking your gpu, a 7800x3d will give you noticeable improvements in frame rate.
Vekxt@reddit (OP)
I wish I could go to a 7800x3d, but am5 is out of range at the moment for me, im thinking if the 5700x3d can help me in this case
maniacalmayh3m@reddit
If you are dead set on a x3d (I have the same set up as you but have way better frame rates) you may want to consider a 5500x3d. Way easier to find. Way cheaper. Still better than. 5700x
Videnskabsmanden@reddit
Isn't that... Normal?
TheRogueJedi66@reddit
i went from a 5700g to 5700x3d with a 9070XT and saw massive gains. convinced this pc will last me 5-6 at minimum if not longer
maniacalmayh3m@reddit
The jump from a 5700g to a 5700x is almost as big as a 5700x to a 5700x3d
TheRogueJedi66@reddit
true, at the time i got it i assumed a 5700g was a slightly weaker 5700x with an igpu, boy was i wrong. that was like 4 years ago lol
nesnalica@reddit
x3D CPUs will give you a 50% performance boost but so does a new AM5 build.
5700x3D and 5800x3D have been out of stock for a long time. if u can still get one then theyre more expensive than just going with a new 9600X, 7600X, 9700X or 9600X and just going AM5
versusvius@reddit
LMAO 50%.
nesnalica@reddit
sorry. 50% minimum. it always depends on the game.
other games can see up to 100%
but 50% perf increase in avg you can expect
versusvius@reddit
Are you trolling or what.
nesnalica@reddit
??? what are you on about. how about you explain what you mean bei "LMAO 50%"
versusvius@reddit
x3d chips on am4 are about 20-25% faster at 1080p. At 1440p and 4k there is barely a difference since the GPU becomes de bottleneck.
Vekxt@reddit (OP)
I can grab a deal trading my 5700x +60$ (in my currency) to get a 5700x3d, in think in that case is probably worth it, what do you think?
nesnalica@reddit
i was talking about new. if you can get a good trade yeah that is totally worth it.
but before you trade it update your bios. it is easier if you have a working CPU to update the bios then not having one. haha
Several_Sweet_4298@reddit
I have a 5600 paired with an Rx 9070 and the best way to have less bottleneck it's by increasing graphics or resolution. You'll get less fps but your experience is going to be much more smoother while lower 1%'s. Try to activate ray tracing in cyberpunk for example and it'll be much smoother
maniacalmayh3m@reddit
I have a 5700x and a 9070XT. For games like Cyberpunk at 1440p I am 100% bottlenecked at the GPU. That said in cyberpunk with Psycho Ray Tracing with frame gen I have 150 fps. With path tracing with frame gen got I get 105 fps
MagicPistol@reddit
What frames are you getting in cyberpunk?
I have the same setup with 5700x and 9070 XT. I remember getting really good fps at 1440p with ultra settings, medium ray, and fsr4. Never dropped anywhere close to 60.
Don't have space marines though.
James_Skyvaper@reddit
You could also switch to 4k. I mean I have a measly 4-core 3300x with a 5070 TI and I'm able to play everything in 4k with a minimum of 60fps, usually more like 100fps. When you play at 4k, even my weak 6yo CPU only has like a 5% bottleneck
shadowlid@reddit
Just overclock the shit out of the CPU, get a way better cooler for it etc, overclock your memory.
Overclocking is free just gotta learn, now you don't get what you use to but you might be able to got 5800XT clocks 24/7 on the 5700x or something
TetePepeF@reddit
It could help you but I kinda doubt it’ll make that much of a difference at 1440p. Also, your motherboard may not support x3D chips and if you tried using one it would blow up
Kotschcus_Domesticus@reddit
space marine 2 does not run really well regardless of HW. x3D might help but not that much. I ran Cyberpunk 5700x with RTX 5070 with path tracing and framegen at 1440p aroun 70-80 fps, no issues there.
ThaGlizzard@reddit
I have a 9070xt and Ryzen 7 7800x3d combo and get around 200 frames on max ray tracing 1440p on cyber punk. If that helps your decision
Accomplished_Emu_658@reddit
It could help. But it won’t be “woah wow amazing.”
sprinklesfactory@reddit
Msi afterburner can mess up performance I believe. Yes x3d would help a lot imo even if it just gets the low frames more stable. That coherence is beautiful
ougxar@reddit
You would have better lows mostly, space marine 2 is very cpu heavy with the swarm
