Honestly I'd be for official identity linked to online presence, if there were no slimy clauses and uses attached. Too many fucks rely on the anonymity internet provides.
You know, still be free to talk shit and all that but under one account, so there's some weight in the system.
I'm just tired of the no-consequence world, but I guess it isn't internet specific.

Not a good reason to make it easier. At least there are currently theoretical ways currently to operate a computer anonymously (even if it needs to be purchased in cash, never connected to the internet, and ideally never plugged in)

I'd argue its not easier. Right now there are no real laws that impact those companies collecting and selling that information in the US. If there was a law, the government would end up being bound by said law in how its used and stored. If the argument is: 'but they'll ignore the law!', well, thats where we are anyway.

I guess my TLDR isn't: 'I give up, so the gov may as well have it all!' its: 'Private industry is allowed to do all this and worse- including selling it to corrupt government you're worried about- and there is absolutely no recourse or benefit. Government getting involved actually does provide a feedback loop, if we actually use it'.

You see this a lot with people that think anything said against the people they don't like should be free speech but the things said against people they like should be outlawed. Internet and device privacy is fundamental to allowing freedom of speech to exist in the digital age.
Not only this but can you imagine someone just standing outside your window watching you in your house and people just say "duhhh if you don't have anything to hide then let them watch you"

So like if I just do not update my OS what they gonna do? I can always just idk use a Linux version since Linux is open sourced and so anyone could just remove an ID verification requirement I would think.
Regardless this is pretty funny to watch tbh. Westoid governments just keep getting more totalitarian, invest more into surveillance and supression of the people all while the control of the Epstein class becomes increasingly more absolute.
