To make these post meaningful post the specs of each system. Otherwise they are useless.

Thanks for letting me know that. What specs apart from CPU and 3D card would be to good to include? I considered RAM, but decided against it because I didn't want the video to be too cluttered.

These posts are so dumb and pointless
A decked out top of line 1997 PC is same as 1999

I'm sorry, but are you saying incorrect things on purpose to get a rise out of me, or are you really that uninformed?
ravensholt@reddit
What are your specs of that 1997 PC ?
Especially the motherboard? Is it some cheap ass PCChips board with fake cache?
Some of those games your demo, ought to run better on a P233/200 MMX.

Not too surprised with Warcraft 3. Remember, that game came out in 2003, and wanted at least a 400Mhz Pentium 2. Plus, this was well after the hayday of Glide and the 3DFx Voodoo cards, so it's going to want something with full OpenGL and DirectX 8.1 support. At the time this game came out, I had a 1.8Ghz Pentium 4 system with 256MB, and a (yeah, I know the card was kind of low end) 64MB GeForce 2 MX card, and even that rig would struggle with it at higher resolutions/graphics settings.
ravensholt@reddit
I'm not talking about this game specifically.
OP has been spamming several subs lately with these videos. Some games run outrageously bad for a Pentium MMX.
ColdCrab6928@reddit (OP)
Maybe you're right, my "1997 vs 1998 vs 1999 PC gaming" spam campaign is way too low ROI. I should try bombing subreddits with unsavory ads, or getting on Putin's payroll to post Russian state-sponsored propaganda on Western social media or something like that.

I personally like the videos so I say keep them coming

I wouldn't even want to play WC3 on the 1999 PC. When I did I play it, I did so on a Pentium III 900 MHz with a ATI Rage Pro 16 MB, and even then my anemic 3D card made things a bit too syrupy.
I just find it interesting how fast tech was moving in those days. I'm well aware how ridiculous it is to try playing WC3 on a PC this old.

I'll post more detailed specs later when I have time to open the case with a screwdriver and look inside.

Awesome.

Oh, how I miss those messy, experimental biting the end simpler times of PC gaming

Pentium III... one day on 86Box... one day...
HTFCirno2000@reddit
Likely not, 86box devs have already mentioned on their site that the Pentium III microarchitecture is too complicated for their team.
matt95110@reddit
I love these comparisons, keep them coming.
Safe_T_Third@reddit
Seconded. Really enjoying these!
