According to Wikipedia, the Ontario police department has been using the Glock 17 as their main sidearm since 1879. Good for the department.

Switching from the ivory frames to bakelite was such a downgrade.

Canada has always been ahead of its time, but I didn't think it was THAT ahead!

That’s why the US invasion failed, muzzle loaders vs Mounties with Glocks led to a lopsided Canadian victory despite being out numbered. Massive coverup ensued to ensure we didn’t learn of this small arms technology gap that the US only recently closed.

The "years" column in that table describes when a particular agency existed, not when they used that particular firearm.
Since OP declined to provide an actual URL instead of just a screenshot, here's the URL: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_police_firearms_in_Canada
Also, it's Wikipedia. If it's a typo, just fix it yourself.

I recently discovered that the Polestar car brand uses the same numbering approach as Glock, i.e. one new number for every new model. It is funny how people think that a Glock 45 is chambered in 45 cal.
Kardinal@reddit
What do they think is the chambering for the Glock 22 then? 😂
Genpatz8@reddit
yes

I’m pretty sure this is just standard practice for the projects. Letter and a sequential number. Most of the time it’s just used internally and the final product gets a more descriptive name.
ErwinHolland1991@reddit
Really? So the first Glock was the Glock 1? That's interesting, never realized that either.
