Damn. Michael Knight would have traded in KITT for this.

Jeebus you need to warn us before posting such pornography.
KindOfPoo@reddit
The Germans were so advanced, they invented the 80s in 1972!

Im as hard as a diamond in an ice storm right now.

Dear BMW,
Please print out 50 copies of this photo and staple them to the eyeballs of your design team.
outskirtsofnowhere@reddit
Or how 'bout just fire your current design team. Stat.
nodnodwinkwink@reddit
It's like one of those cars I had when I was a kid that change colours in hot water. This one has been partially dipped in either end.
P_f_M@reddit
childhood memory unlocked!
Bland-fantasie@reddit
If BMW did to this what Dodge did to the Challenger, I imagine it would be a success story. This car is exceptionally attractive.
P_f_M@reddit
there were hopes about the M1 Hommage....
Fat_Satan@reddit
The current BMW team would fuck this up so bad.
Bland-fantasie@reddit
Some reboots suck. The current Mini isn’t small. It looks borderline not even a “compact” car. The pudgy design aesthetic of it doesn’t help. The original mini was amazingly small. I guess it might not be mini’s fault if there’s some law about micro cars, I don’t know.
zilog88@reddit
Same is with Smart. Those new Smarts are not a smart choice anymore, as they seem to be bigger than new fiat 500s.
Bland-fantasie@reddit
I drove a rideshare Smart and there was a 1.5 second delay between gear shifts, with an automatic transmission. When you’re accelerating from a red light with cars behind you, that’s not good.
Smart and Fiat have bad reps. VW’s I’ve anecdotally seen perform terribly my whole life. I saw two Vanagon fires where the fire was a white flame. Also I think Jeep is overpriced and develop inconvenient long term problems, but they do look great.
Yukon-Jon@reddit
Jeep was amazing '88-'03

It absolutely was BMW who made the Mini bigger, and it is BMW who have been slowly making it bigger and bigger over the years
The original concepts for it were developed by BMW and Rover/MG, with the intent of it being sold under the Rover group, just as the last of the classic minis were, and then BMW realised they could just take the mini brand and sell the rest of Rover/MG back to itself, to maximise profits for BMW, and then it grew in size because BMW wanted it to be as marketable as possible and didn't care about the cars heritage
Bland-fantasie@reddit
Interesting. If you had to choose between a mini and a Honda civic, both new, both same price (but could be different trim tiers), would you pick Civic?
Yukon-Jon@reddit
Yes.
yoweigh@reddit
My ex had a 2016 Mini Cooper S convertible that she very recently got rid of. That thing was the most fun car I've ever driven, bar none. Now they don't even offer stick shifts anymore!!!
It did the standard BMW thing and started falling apart after 10 years, even though it only had 32k miles on it! She only got $8k for it at trade-in.
righthandofdog@reddit
Put one of their monster snout grilles on the front
kilobitch@reddit
All nostril front end
nonsense_bill@reddit
They should build it like the team from cyberpunk 2077 would, I bet it'll look cool af
MRDR1NL@reddit
Probably turn it into an SUV
tudorapo@reddit
So beautiful.
dirtyforker@reddit
Its not a 1936 Bugatti Alantic, but it's not ugly, weird, 80's to the max, and funky
tudorapo@reddit
the color scheme. look at that fiery red nose! I guess it was cold that day.
Ketil_b@reddit
I had this one as a kid.
If you put it down your pants, it will turn all orange.
EasyRudder49@reddit
Love the paint.
MiketheBike88@reddit
If I were a billionaire, I would hand this picture to a high end custom shop. Build me this!
SonderEber@reddit
Looks like something from 82, not 72. Ahead of its time, design wise.
costafilh0@reddit
So fast it gets hot in the extremes.
abrahamisaninja@reddit
Nothing weird about this one
mini4x@reddit
While they didn't ever send this to production they did build the almost 500 of the M1.

eternalityLP@reddit
What's with the massive panel gaps on the front and back panels?
logicdsign@reddit
Those are technically the bumpers, and that line is a rubber seal.
zilog88@reddit
That's not weird, that's cool.
A_Literal_6_Year_Old@reddit
The dual rear badges are for sure weird, however
SasquatchWookie@reddit
Eh, the M1 classic had this so it’s certainly not standalone design seen here.
shart-gallery@reddit
Definitely not mutually exclusive
