What must have truck accessories do you regret not getting sooner?

Had my truck for two years and only recently started actually setting it up right. Feels like I wasted time running it stock when there's so much out there. Now, I finally got a tonneau cover and I can't imagine not having one earlier. Also grabbed some all-weather floor liners. I started looking at bed steps and running boards next but not sure if those are overkill.
Im a bit curious what you guys added early on that made the most difference and what turned out to be a waste of money?

Totally get what you mean about regretting not getting stuff sooner. For me, a good set of mud flaps and a bed mat were game changers early on, saved a lot of headaches with paint chips and cargo sliding around. Running boards are definitely not overkill if you use your bed often or have passengers, they provide a solid step up. I've found some good ideas just browsing around on realtruck for different setups people run.

Tonneau cover was my #1 regret too. Also added a bed liner early on and it saved the bed from so much damage
100% worth it.

honestly, most of the "must-have" stuff people talk about is just fluff, you really only need a few things that actually make a difference, but yeah realtruck is usually solid for finding the actual useful bits.

Yeah, a good tonneau cover is a game changer, totally agree there. For me, the biggest regret was not getting a decent set of mud flaps earlier; saved my paint from so many chips. Bed steps are definitely not overkill if you're constantly in and out of the bed, and I've found realtruck has a pretty solid selection for comparing options.

Two years stock is just lazy, honestly. Tonneau covers are standard, not some big discovery. I got my bed liner and some other bits from realtruck years ago, no regrets there. Bed steps are usually overkill unless you're tiny.

honestly, most of those "must have" lists are just marketing hype for stuff you probably don't need unless you're really using your truck for specific tasks. a good tonneau cover is definitely up there though, makes a huge difference for keeping stuff dry and secure. i've found realtruck to be pretty solid for finding decent gear without all the fluff, always had good experiences with them. bed steps and running boards are usually overkill unless you're super short or constantly hauling heavy stuff.

LMAO honestly valid at this point you can lessen all those truck mods!

Honestly, the first truck I ever owned came with running boards, and I hated them. I was always bashing my shins on them getting in and out. Once I took them off it was much easier to just jump into the driver's seat, and it had better ground clearance.
There's only one thing I regret not asking for on my newest truck, a clear wrap to protect the hood. The front bumper and grill are plastic, so I don't really care about those, but the hood is metal and already has a few rock chips. I'm gonna have to touch those up soon to prevent any rust from starting.
I am quite glad I ordered it with a tonneau cover and spray-in bedliner.

LOL the shin thing is so real, never thought about that being an actual downside and clear wrap on the hood seems like one of those things you only think about after the chips are already there.

For me it’s a bed crossover toolbox. I keep a few milk crates in there organized with stuff. One with hitches, one with a bunch of ratchet straps, etc. I’m going to get on weather proof tote of some sort to toss some spare tools and stuff in too.
And I live in the rust belt, so I got the best undercoating done I could.
SunniTreisel65@reddit (OP)
Milk crate system is lowkey underrated for organization and also undercoating in the rust belt is probably the smartest thing you can do, how much did that run you?

Ventshades for the windows. Keep the rain out with the windows cracked. I'll second the tonneau cover.

Running boards. New truck didn't come with them. Night and day difference loading up the kiddos in carseats.
SunniTreisel65@reddit (OP)
LOL that makes so much sense with car seats, which ones did you end up going with, factory or aftermarket?
landry_454kg@reddit
I went aftermarket. I wasn't paying Mopar prices.

Not sure what kind of truck but I'm a big fan of the matte finish screen protectors. They cut glare and prevent micro scratches. I also like the hood protectors to guard from rock chips and window tint is the first gotta have accessory.
SunniTreisel65@reddit (OP)
Screen protector is actually a genius one I never even thought about that. What brand are you running on yours?
Choppersled@reddit
I've had the spigen brand on mine for a couple years and it still looks new. My wife has an innosure brand on hers and it still looks new after a year as well.
