Fill-up at Sam’s Club-North Dallas (4/14) — 25 days later and prices still haven’t improved

Paid $137 for 28 gallons a few weeks ago, and I’m still experiencing similar totals around NTX. As a 20 year local business owner and NTX resident. Anyone else tired of winning?
Significant-Host4386@reddit
Who’d you vote for?
faithcharmandpixdust@reddit
But Trump said just today that the high gas prices was fake news!! /s
mountainclimb312@reddit
I don’t see any easy way out of this mess we’re in. Fully expecting gas prices to stay high for a long time
_ze@reddit
That's like someone with a bloody broken nose, punching themselves in the face, saying "This is going to continue to hurt and I can't see a way to stop it. It's complicated."
mvsr990@reddit
Nothing in that comment said "and that's fine."
Resident_Cat162@reddit
Big tank you got on that vehicle….
Dysanj@reddit
Driving a Diesel?
Popular-Brilliant349@reddit
I paid 3.33 today for gas so. I don't know where you go but that's too high.
CrustofBreads@reddit
Expect a lot longer
FluidFisherman6843@reddit
Good news! This fucked the economy so bad, that demand destruction is taking place and prices should start falling sooner than anticipated because the economy is collapsing.

CivilTell8@reddit
I wouldnt count on that, 120+ tanker ships are heading to the US to fill up with gas and oil and leave to Europe and Asia. Demand might collapse but so will supply
FizzgigsRevenge@reddit
"That may cause slower economic growth"
LMAO, NBC we haven't had decent growth since 2024.
AlarmedSnek@reddit
Nah, Iran will just lower some tolls and lesson some restrictions to keep the money flowing to them.
omar_strollin@reddit
Marketplace was talking about this concept on today’s episode as well.
4ofheartz@reddit
Thx. I’ll go listen.
noncongruent@reddit
Same thing happened during the Great Bush Recession, I remember seeing 99¢ gas and wishing I had a job so that I could afford to buy it.
intransigent_bunny@reddit
And worse. The last of the tankers that made it out of the Strait before February 28th haven't even reached their destinations yet.
omar_strollin@reddit
Or not at all.
Striking_Reindeer_2k@reddit
This is $5+ gal. It is under $3 gal elsewhere in town.
What are you getting?
HauptJ@reddit
Use the GoPass, DCTA GoZone, Transit App, and Google Maps Transit and a bike if possible for solo trips.

Necoras@reddit
It's about to get worse.
The costs you've been seeing for the past month have been based on speculation. The global oil price went up immediately, but the amount the refiners paid for the oil they've been refining was set back when they bought it months ago, before the war started. The price they're actually paying is about to catch up with the global market. Why? Because the last tankers of oil from the Middle East are predicted to arrive right about now. That means that there will be less oil being refined along the gulf coast (we aren't tooled to refine most of the oil produced in the US; that gets exported). And the oil that is getting refined costs more.
There are gas shortages around the world already. We might not see those, but further increased prices are possible.
That said, if you work for an oil company, your boss/shareholders are probably loving this.
_ze@reddit
Hold that thought, because "demand destruction" has already started to occur, globally, and will bring down oil prices (for very troubling reasons).
Necoras@reddit
I certainly hope so, but "demand destruction" will take months, more likely years. It just takes time to get EVs and the like on the road. Summer's going to be expensive.
DFWdawg@reddit
My Sam’s diesel was 4.71 until a couple of days ago and jumped to 5.45 overnight…weird pricing compared to other stations around…
nosleep4eternity@reddit
Diesel?
Agitated-News3432@reddit
Crazy mine keeps lowering was 3.14 at its peak for me now down to 2.90
Jumpy_Efficiency471@reddit
Thank you Donack troomp
JerryTexas52@reddit
What vehicle holds 27 gallons? Wow! That's incredible.
Careless-Resource-72@reddit
It’s $3.45/gal at the McKinney Sams Club. 28 gallons would be $96.85. It would be worth the drive.
Bigtex1303@reddit (OP)
This was diesel filled up at the McKinney Sam’s Club today.
Pony2013@reddit
That's your dumbass fault for having a diesel car/truck.

No hate there. Our other vehicle is a hybrid Toyota. But this diesel is needed to handle specific towing capacity for business.
crestedgeckovivi@reddit
3.33 at the sams in Garland just filled my tank up today.
buzzlegummed@reddit
Uh what was your expectation with a war going on?
_ze@reddit
Stop hitting yourself.
sciaticabuster@reddit
As a 20 year local business owner I’m sure you were equally outraged and made a post about the gas prices in the summer of 2022. As they were much worse than this.

You should post your business name, I might need to hire you.

Uh, Biden didn’t start a war to distract from the Epy files, he didn’t break the JCPOA for BiBi, and he didn’t start a war to manipulate the stock market.

When inflation was running rampant around the world, due to a global pandemic?
misterblackvenom@reddit
The big difference between now & then is that this was a wholly unnecessary act of US foreign policy causing a substantial spike in energy prices.

Who is the President TODAY? Who started bombing Iran THIS YEAR?
jaynelane@reddit
Thats what bothers me about trump saying , "America has so much oil we dont need anyone else's oil" because if we did we surely wouldnt see a price increase. Grateful I drive a compact right now.
AvailableReporter484@reddit
Look, we might have to literally pay more for every single thing in our every day lives and are losing a very stupid war, but can’t you take some solace in the fact that thanks to all the brain geniuses who voted Republican that you’re safe from caravans of trans kids who are coming for your bathrooms? Or the terror of ANTIFA BLM DEI communism in our schools?!

According to the latest newsmax statistics, did you know that on average roughly every 15 seconds in Chicago, a white Christian baby will be forced to burn an American flag by a librarian? That’s over 100 billion burnt flags every day. And guess what? About 98% of those babies will go on to not stand for the pledge of allegiance.

Now that's what I call Science!!

I also heard that over in California they are doing MILLIONS of post-birth abortions. They just yeet the baby straight into the garbage! Sure, its identical to murder, but somehow they get away with it!

Are we living in 2022 right now? Get with the program. They probably didnt like the high prices back then either, I know I didn't. Forget blaming previous administrations for the current administration's problems. Its been going on for 26 years now and its ridiculous. All I heard was "Bush, Bush, Bush" when Obama was in office, then "Obama, Obama, Obama," next was "Trump Trump Trump" now its "Biden Biden Biden" while still sprinkling in Obama. What is THIS administration doing to fix a problem that hurts Americans NOW, while they are running the show?
Fit_Smile1146@reddit
We’re living in 2026. Gas was a $1.00 less last month. Stop being a turd.
SnooHabits3911@reddit
Oil prices are dropping so there should be some relief soon
sean_ireland@reddit
Israel thanks you.
HalaMadrid1987@reddit
They should come down about the same time we get our $5000 DOGE and $2000 tariffs checks, so much winning 🤣🤣🤣

Why would they?

So much winning

If anything, this just makes me appreciate my little hybrid sedan way more. I usually only fill up 7-8 gallons for less than $30 (although last week it was scary close to $30) and get 600 miles till empty.
Auto_psyche@reddit
Hybrid and Tesla owners really be laughing at us rn
FumBungo@reddit
Trump $20.28 per gallon
sirbobmontgomery@reddit
lol and?
whiteholewhite@reddit
My Maverick cost $45 to fill up today and take some twoish weeks to burn through driving in DFW. Love that thing
Fartsandkisses@reddit
28 gallons?! You filling up a bus? What car do you have?
Pale-Succotash441@reddit
I got gas at 7-11 off of Maple today in my Subaru for $40 and some change. Do we need to own vehicles in the city that need 30 gallons of gas?
EclipseThing2@reddit
That’s either diesel or premium. I have a 36 gallon tank and filled up today for $128 @ $3.59 reg unleaded
No-Opposite-8216@reddit
$3.50 a gallon. what a bargain considering it was $2.50 a gallon in February
EclipseThing2@reddit
Shit happens
No-Opposite-8216@reddit
Lol, how I love loudly apathetic people. Truly inspiring.

First war?

knotquiteawake@reddit
Costco doesn’t sell diesel around here from what I’ve seen.
So that’s premium.
I don’t know any trucks that require premium or very few vehicle with that size tank take premium.
I rate this as not actually from here or intentionally filling a truck that only needs regular with premium for internet points.
SharkSheppard@reddit
Its a Yukon XL with the 6.2L engine is my guess.

$5.39 today?
I filled up 83 octane in Plano for $3.95 last night
Marauder3299@reddit
It is a troll. OP said they filled up with diesel.
rhcherry@reddit
Prices will continue to increase until morale improves.
gaiatraveller@reddit
Is America great again yet?
SweetToothEra@reddit
Wait wait... Sam's gas is cheaper than a 7/11, ExxonMobil, etc so if you went to a Shell gas station, how much would your gas be? $170 +?
noncongruent@reddit
Ouch! Diesel users are really getting hammered. I expect to see that show up in food prices very soon, especially produce since it's on the shelf within days of being picked.
xXTERMIN8RXXx@reddit
Gasbuddy is getting annoying with the point-generating activities and noti's. I just use Google Maps > Gas to hopefully get accurate gas prices, or go to Costco
Competitive_Pack3194@reddit
But you save on eggs soooo… balances out?
meltedkuchikopi5@reddit
we should also be focused on the price of fertilizer right now and how it’s going to affect food prices long term as well. i know a lot of farmers who are cutting down the variety or number of crops this year due to the price of urea getting higher than normal (around 16% increase this past month).
the us DOES use a lot of domestic fertilizer but the price is still driven by international markets.
noncongruent@reddit
Fertilizer production uses prodigious amounts of energy, primarily natural gas, and since Republicans made it legal to export natural gas back in 2015 that means fertilizer production in the USA is dependent on what other countries are willing to pay to import natural gas, even though the US is awash with massive oversupplies of it.
Fit_Smile1146@reddit
It’s crazy! I went from paying 2.25 per gallon to 3.56.
omar_strollin@reddit
The last freighters since the straight closed are arriving on US shores this week. They take forever to get here.
It’s just beginning.
civil_beast@reddit
No - they took a long time to get here…
NOW they’ll take forever to arrive!
misterblackvenom@reddit
You’re not going to see an improvement for around 6-8 months.
