Should I restore a low-mileage vintage G-Class or go for a newer one (~50k miles)?

Hello Reddit, first-time poster!
I’ve been looking into buying a G-Class, but the prices are insanely high—even for used models from the last 5 years. Most of the newer ones I’ve found have really high mileage (100k+), while some older models (around 2005–2010) surprisingly have very low mileage (around 5–10k).
I’m wondering—would it be smarter (and cheaper) to buy an older model and upgrade it with things like sensors and a modern screen, or should I just keep waiting for a newer model at a better price?
Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated!

The early 2000's models with the naturally aspirated 5 liter v8 are actually pretty simple and reliable.
Thats what id buy.

theyre "cheap" because the upkeep on a G class is really expensive

Sourcing the parts might be another tricky part
