Truck stop food

In terms of taste and quality, Rutters is probably the best. Everything I’ve gotten has absolutely slapped. I fucking love rutters
Wasabi-Kungpow@reddit
Wawa. They just opened their first truck stop in NC (maybe SC)
DimensionalAxolotl@reddit
Rutters has some damn good food. However, back when I was still OTR the place that I always looked forward to was one of the Love's that had the Naf Naf inside. Would kill for some good rice and chicken shawarma anywhere along my usual routes these days
Knarknarknarknar@reddit
On 101 in CA the Aztec Grill at the chevron stations were the best Mexican food until a bunch of white people were put behind the counters
isaacgdawg@reddit
Them breaded chicken rollers
homucifer666@reddit
You guys eat truck stop food?
Defiant-Medicine3014@reddit (OP)
No I starve
oneshadeoff@reddit
There's a pretty large gap between eating an inevitable heart attack and starving.
Defiant-Medicine3014@reddit (OP)
I know, I’m just not entertaining a lecture
Pretty_Olive_3668@reddit
Fat fucker
THExPILLOx@reddit
Yeah. Rutters on East Coast and kwik trip in the Midwest.
Shame sheetz shit the bed in the 2012s, they were superior to rutters but they fucked up.
Radiant_Swan187@reddit
What did sheetz do? I love them since last year. Best mozzarella sticks
THExPILLOx@reddit
around 2012 they did a menu revamp, it was around that time that the quality, quantity, and price of the food changed for the worse. Still fine food, but man, an entire generation of pennsylvania kids and working adults were hitting sheetz in lieu of most other chain food places.
Grumpy_Trucker_85@reddit
Kwik Trip/ Kwik Star is amazing. The fact I can get some groceries there, albeit a small selection, is absolutely amazing.
StealthyNoctowl@reddit
Kwik Trip goes hard the few times I was out there. I liked the Sheetz in Troy, Ohio the two times I was there
THExPILLOx@reddit
Brother, if you liked modern sheetz. You would have jizzed your pants over their pre2012 shit lol.
KillerCookie23@reddit
I barely found out about Sheetz in 2021 when I first started trucking and I’ve loved it since. Damn how badly did I miss out?
Defiant-Medicine3014@reddit (OP)
Sheetz would be better if it wasn’t so overpriced. They charge the fuck out of you for absolute mid
Thepopethroway@reddit
I never ate it. It's overpriced and extremely unhealthy.
stevenmacarthur@reddit
If you're in the area they exist, Sheetz food is all Made To Order, and is pretty damn good; my favorite is the salads: all romaine, I add strips of steak and shredded cheese and get low-fat French dressing.
In the Central Plains, QuikTrip has made to order items as well; the roast beef wraps with brown mustard are deelish.
In the Mountain states, Maverik has really good burritos with quality ingredients.
My local fave KwikTrip/KwikStar has been dropping the ball the last few years in quality in a lot of items, but they still have better choices than the big mega-chains, and they still have the freshest coffee anywhere.
StealthyNoctowl@reddit
Whay on God's green earth is Rutters? Also, the Little America in Flagstaff has the best truck stop food IMO
SafariJim@reddit
Bro that place is incredible.
itsaheem@reddit
Why Go Anywhere Else?
UOLZEPHYR@reddit
Rutters is PA exclusive iirc.
Fucking amazing, I want to say i remeber their kitchen being 24/7.
There's like 15 or 20 of them. My personal favorite cheeseburger, fries chocolate shake
Defiant-Medicine3014@reddit (OP)
One in Fredrick Maryland. I’m there rn. There’s a few in west va and they’re building one in Virginia if it isn’t already finished. Not all of them have truck parking tho, I hate finding one and I can’t park up
BeardKnight@reddit
The one in VA on 81 has been open for a while and is a fantastic place to stop.
Jesse1179US@reddit
I drove a one ton up to PA last month from Louisiana to pick up a manifold and stopped at Rutter’s for the first time. I ordered a breakfast burrito and that thing was massive and so good.
Desperate_Fee_808@reddit
Mostly eastern Pennsylvania for the most part lol
truckingham@reddit
They’re starting to expand into central and western pa too these days
DepressedDragonBorn@reddit
I think rutters is mainly east cost. Love their truck stops, they're not the biggest stops but they're clean.
Humble_Length5150@reddit
I passed by a Rutter's on 70 just west of New Stanton, PA yesterday and looked them up. It's a new location, and looks really nice. I'm normally a "love's or nothing" guy, but I'll give them a go the next time I'm out that way.
StealthyNoctowl@reddit
Thats why, I mostly was in the West
StillInside3794@reddit
never heard this one
StealthyNoctowl@reddit
Its a large hotel that has truck parking I-40 in Flagstaff, AZ
Nero-Danteson@reddit
There's 2 in Wyoming. One in Cheyenne and the other in Little America
StealthyNoctowl@reddit
The one in Little America is a favorite of us Mclane drivers going to Salt Lake for our 30's. Apparently there's one in Salt Lake as well
Desperate_Fee_808@reddit
It’s in on 81 east in Pennsylvania
HighwayStar71@reddit
No, that would be the Pilot in Eagle Pass, Texas.
Voxicles@reddit
We load up for the week at Trader Joe’s with frozen or refrigerated meals. Still not as healthy as a home cooked meal, but it’s at least easy to see your macros. And much better than roller dogs.
Frozen meals keep just fine in the fridge if eaten within a week!
Dinyska@reddit
If you don’t mind me asking, what meals do you get from Trader Joe’s?
Voxicles@reddit
Usually do the chicken burrito bowl for breakfast, I jazz it up with hot sauce and ‘everything but the eloté’ seasoning. Filling, low calorie, great amount of fiber.
For dinners I usually choose different things. Love the spicy farfalle chicken sausage pasta, the butter chicken, the spaghetti. Really hard to go wrong with most of their frozen offerings. (Stay clear of the chicken adobo)
If I’m sure I can go a shift or two without snacking, I’ll get some of the refrigerated meals that are supposed to be for 2. I like the Cajun Alfredo and the chicken Marsala (I know they’re pale imitation of the real thing, but they’re great in the truck). Though I’m on glp-1 injections now, so I can’t get through those meals (too much food).
All the salads are decent, but if I’m doing a salad week I get some extra pre-cooked chicken to help meet macros. (And an extra bottle of green goddess dressing)
Defiant-Medicine3014@reddit (OP)
Nothing wrong with that. The right ones can be just as healthy as anything you can cook in the truck. Ppl automatically assume cause it’s frozen it’s bad
keepmecoming@reddit
Russell’s Truck and Travel center was really good always liked stopping there and getting breakfast and dinner
Mamatiger85@reddit
Now a TA, still have the restaurant though
Fox_Tango_@reddit
I typically go shopping every weekend on my home time and make food at my apartment and bring it with me for the week. However, if I’m in Kwik Trip/Star territory, and I’m able to stop at one, I always end up grabbing something while I’m there that is my only exception. I love KT’s food!
BeardKnight@reddit
I love getting pizza from Casey's hands down better than any other truck stop pizza and some pizza chains
Fat_Guy_With_Snacks@reddit
Rutters has one of the most ridiculous menu items I've ever seen. It's called the Route 30 Burger. Typical cheeseburger, but each bun is a full grilled cheese sandwich! You can also order it as triple.
Nero8762@reddit
Ritter, Sheetz, & QT, my 3 favs unless I’m in KwikTrip/KwikStar country.
TruckerBiscuit@reddit
Workman's in Arkansas has the best hot case I've ever seen. Boudin balls, yo!
Voxicles@reddit
Man It’s difficult to find good boudin balls. A bar I worked at a billion years ago in the PNW used to make them pretty well, but obviously not as good as in LA.
My current route takes me through northern Arkansas, but not on the 49… Though if I ever get an extreme hankerin, maybe I’ll adjust my route!
TruckerBiscuit@reddit
They've got regular boudin sausages as well and all the delicious hot case food you could ever want. It's a big part of why I had a salad for dinner tonight. 🤣
WackoMcGoose@reddit
Aspiring trucker here, I've developed a taste for the pizza at my local Pilot... although last time I went there, it was so greasy that I spent the next hour after clocking back in at work, defiling the single-stall bathroom 😨 Who needs a laxative when pizza grease will lube your entire intestine?
Disastrous_Ebb9320@reddit
Go shop at Walmart
Defiant-Medicine3014@reddit (OP)
What’s with the assumptions. I cook in my truck. Am I not allowed to eat good food from rutters whenever I happen to be in PA
iwishiwasameme@reddit
Management has not approved it. Straight to jail.
Disastrous_Ebb9320@reddit
No
Defiant-Medicine3014@reddit (OP)
Alright whatever you say bro
BeenThruIt@reddit

commacausey@reddit
I stay in the Southeast and there’s some mom and pop truck stops that have delis and restaurants that have some of the best food you’ll ever eat anywhere.
SafariJim@reddit
4 star diner in Roland, OK is my favorite place to eat on the road. Right off of 40, the casino truck stop there has really nice showers and have always been able to find parking when I get there.
Pakman____@reddit
I feel so bad for y'all. I stopped eating truck stop food years ago.
But I will admit. I'd prefer a Rutter's to most other spots if I had no choice.
Defiant-Medicine3014@reddit (OP)
Rutters is the only truck stop food I eat unless I run out of stuff in the truck and couldn’t make it to Walmart. Anytime I’m in pa I stop there but that’s not often.
Pakman____@reddit
It's definitely better than anything at Pilot or TA.
I've noticed loves has healthier options since I just got back on the road. But I'm still not eating that shit 🤣
Intelligent-Site7686@reddit
Sapp Bros diner food is pretty good. If there's one nearby I usually end up walking over to the nearest taco truck. The best pastor I've ever had is at the one outside the Loves near Provo, UT. The agua frescas are great too
highlyelevated_207@reddit
Just was at Rutter’s in Gap, PA last night 🔥
