2020 M3 CS had a single turbo kit wasn’t running my E85 map and an Audi r8 definitely newer model with unknown upgrades walked me in a 40 roll out in the wild.

Some dude in a trackhawk annihilated me on 93 South a few years ago.

25 odd years ago, chasing an F355 down the motorway in a 320 bhp fiesta.. 🤦♂️
As you can imagine the prancing horse dropped us pretty quickly

Not a car but I raced my dad's fz1, I knew it wasn't a real race 🤭. I had a modified 96 mx6 ls and I chipped 1st, 2nd and 3rd and as soon as I hit 3rd my dad started and then flew by me doing 70 in 1st gear. It was so awesome!
I used to be very irresponsible and have dozens and dozens of racing stories but that fz1... damn!!!
JayDokkan98@reddit
Fastest I’ve raced was a Ferrari 488. I was in my c6 grand sport. The Ferrari was my Dad’s and he wanted to race me. I knew i didn’t stand a chance but it was still crazy to see how casually he walked away from me
Human_Grass@reddit
I rented a Giulia once and some guy tried to race me at a red light. Does that count?

A 8kW Rimokart xD. Haven’t been able to go to a track day yet, not that my 110 HP diesel would pull any herrings of the plate.

1987 Buick Grand National. I miss that car!
Wreckingass@reddit
Not the absolute fastest I’ve seen or been in, but I caught a Datsun 510 at a light once right as it turned green. He launched so fucking quickly I could barely even realize what happened. When we got to the next light, I noticed his hood was cut to accommodate the absolutely monstrous twin turbos. What a machine that was.
Quickest ever been in? Built a ‘75 C10 with an LS6, dual-quads, 750hp of pure hate. It just didn’t want to stick to the road, so we put a 350 in that pickup that we traded our friend the LS6 for and built an 1/8th mile drag car with. Custom chassis. Just frame, engine, and tires. Ran 136mph in the 1/8th. Scary fast.
drallafi@reddit
I think it was a '99 Camaro Z28. That thing was... not stock. She went bye bye.

Makes me miss my 95 z28. Wasn't crazy fast but fast enough for an 19 year old me

I had a 95 Z28 in high school. It was eventually totaled while parked on the street at girlfriend’s house by a drunk high school kid in a trans am. Loved that car; red, t-tops, 6 speed, but it was honestly a POS.
HazeMachine0109@reddit
Was this in Jersey ! I got destroyed by 1 and all I heard was the turbo after he blew by me

A teenager in a S550 5.0 mustang tried to race me on my Ducati Monster 821. I’d say that was the fastest. I heard him go WOT next to me at around ~20mph in 1st. As soon as he shifted into 3rd I was gone.

in the late 1990s my buddy had a 1991 MR2 turbo. Had the boost turned up all sorts of mods. Would regularly beat anything that pulled up next to it. Then one night a guy in a Taurus SHO pulled up. Have no idea what the guy did to it but that thing blew us out of the water.

Oh I can play this game ! I have a friend who used to own a Yamaha R1, it was at the garage for service. We had to go bike the bike up (it was a couple towns away, pretty late in the evening).

I had to drive the car back home, when we left, he said: let’s race !!!

I raced a C8 Z06 in my 3.5TT Ford Explorer, I was ahead for a half second when the light turned green but he pulled ahead and stayed there. I think I stopped at like 60 and he was easily going 90+

Long time ago, but an 03-04 Terminator Cobra (mystic paint too), crushed my 99 turbo’d Z28. I think the owner said he was running 28 lbs of boost on an aftermarket Kenne Belle. I could hear that thing screaming.

On the freeways of Mexico I came up to a Porsche GT3 and when I got about to his back bumper, he took off. I had to down shift and reel him in. When I shut it down and he caught up, he was recording and in disbelief. Best kill of my life. Still gives me goosebumps.

A story from long ago at Lime Rock Park (1985?). I was running an ITA Scirocco which I rented because I wanted to to score some points in a SCCA regional race and my car wasn't quite ready. We were one of the support races that for Trans Am that weekend back when the manufacturers were there with their turbo cars: Mercury Capris (Wally Dalenbach), Nissan 300ZX (Paul Newman), Porsche 924 Turbo (Paul Miller). We were having trouble with the car, so we elected to do the hardship session which (insanely enough) allowed every class to run at once. Paul Miller too was having trouble and ran the session.
Now, the Scirocco was turd, but one lap I was going past the start finish line and checked the rear view to see the Porsche emerging from the apex of the down hill. Before I even hit the brakes for big bend, he flew past me at god knows how many mph. To see how insane that is, see: https://www.paradigmshiftracing.com/uploads/4/8/2/6/48261497/limerock.jpg

I just traded my model 3 performance in for a 24 BMW M2. It’s tuned with some mods. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 600-650. The Tesla did Tesla stuff, but there’s something about this M2 trying to rip the tires off in 3rd that just makes me so incredibly happy.
I come from a long history of commuters and Miata’s so these cars seem like actual rockets.
I have done all the stupid shit on a zx10r, but to me, bikes are different.

Literally the other day went to a BMW M tour event in Tampa. Where they let me and my two buddies drive the G80 M3 competition, M2, G90 M5 Competition, and BMW XM. I also raced and beat a 2004 mustang GT, they let me pass after I tailgated long enough

Not fast but fun . We were in Florida for the Shriners East West Allstar game . Went to dinner and saw a hidden police car but realized it wasn’t occupied . On the way back not far from when the police car was a Z06 pulled up to our rental Chrysler 200 . So I’m reviving up the engine like I want to race and of course he is ignoring me . I nail the green light and leave him for a moment until I hear tires screaming as he decides F this . He goes flying by until he sees the police car and proceeds to really use his brakes . lol . No harm , no foul but I think it got his heart rate up .

Got a bike, not a crotch rocket... Just a 900cc triumph Scrambler although it is tuned and has had the front sprocket size changed.
Ive embarrassed C63 AMGs, 911s and other sports cars off the line.
You get into really exotic stuff and I'll have no chance.
Only thing that surprised me... I lost to a 2500 duely duramax. I knew I was toast after I heard the turbo spool up and it was obviously not factory set up.
Funniest story.... A like 12 year old Hyundai Accent with 5 dudes inside pulled up beside meat a red light. I was in right lane, he was in left. He revs his engine... I was not going to even entertain him because 1. He is in a shit box and 2. To my right is the police station..... Light turns green and buddy peels out right as a cop pulls up to the light to our right. I hadn't even started moving yet so I just lock eyes with the cop, wave him through as he turns his lights on to go pull over Mr stupid in the accent. Really wish I had my helmet cam on that day but didn't.

1985 Honda Interceptor 750. Fucker was stupid fast.
DMCinDet@reddit
Those are fast.
rickybobbyscrewchief@reddit
I mean, they were in 1985. Today, a modern Ninja 400 (that many people consider a decent first sportbike) is nearly as fast in a straight line and far superior in any kind of race/twisty. I very first learned on a borrowed Interceptor 700, owned a VF1000F for a while. They changed the game in the early 80s, but got left WAY behind by the 2000s. Not really fast at all by modern sportbike standards.
Tickles-The-Octopus@reddit
Those were literally designed to be full on balls to the wall race bikes. They changed the rules for max displacement from 1000cc down to 750 and made you sell a certain number to customers. Honda took the race spec, did the bare minimum to make them road legal and sold them. Serious machines those were back in the day.
haske0@reddit
Oh yeah bikes are a whole other animal. I once tried racing a big Indian bike in my IS500 and I got walked.
Tickles-The-Octopus@reddit
Yeah, even a 250cc learners bike is quicker off the line than 95% of cars out there. And if you get into a Japanese supersport or a racing Italian or German bike... You can spend 15-30 grand on a new or like 5 grand on a used one and walk a 500 thousand dollar supercar.
It's really not very difficult or expensive to buy a 15 year old 1000CC Japanese bike and tune it to get 250 horsepower out of it. 250 horsepower in a 400 lb vehicle is absalutly bonkers and costs less than a half decent Miata with about as much luggage room.
DMCinDet@reddit
Have an old 1200 Suzuki Bandit. That thing is nasty. I havent tried to holeshot it too hard be wise it just picks up the front. From 40 to 120 it is an insane ride and sounds awesome. My Corvette is fast for a car, but it has nothing on that 20 plus years old motorcycle.
Tickles-The-Octopus@reddit
Oh for sure. My triumph isn't the best off the line either as it is a standard setup so you sit upright. A sports set up where you lean forward helps quite a bit at keeping the front down.
But yeah... I'm in Canada so I'll use Km/H... But from 20-180 the thing pulls like crazy. No kidding, if I am doing 80 behind a tractor trailer on a country road I can drop it to third and start accelerating and before I can blink I'll be passing the cab at about 150 before shifting to 4th.
People who have only driven cars also don't understand the gearing in bikes. Cars are like redlining in 1st at 30km/h.... My bike will do 95 in 1st, my buddies CBR 1000 will do 135 in 1st
DMCinDet@reddit
Ive been a dealer tech my whole life. Chrysler and mostly Japanese stuff. Cars are cool, bikes can be even cooler. Also, nice to change it up a bit. 10,000 RPM motorcycle noises definitely hit better than 6500 V8 motors amd I love the sound of my car.
Worst part about both isn't hard to get the most out of them on public roads.
Tickles-The-Octopus@reddit
Absalutely, that's why I have a soft spot for small and low powered sportscars like a Miata or the GT86. You can actually put the throttle down a bit and have fun and both be fairly confident that you will make it around that bend still facing the way you planned when you entered the bend and also not necessarily bot be speeding but not be speeding so much they send you directly to somewhere that has a big burly dude check out your prison wallet for contraband before spending the night.
Also why I like my 900 scrambler. It's big enough to have fun with our in the country(I don't find cities or packed highways fun, I try to get away from others while on the bike as much as possible) but it doesn't encourage you like a supersport does to go stupid stupid fast..

Fastest car I’ve seen on the street was a Miata. He beat the shit out of this T/A WS6 that was curb stomping everyone that night. Even won the rematch when they ws6 guy used a 200 shot of nitrous. He was so embarrassed that he turned off the street and left for the night. Meanwhile the Miata guy comes flooring it back towards the starting line and spun his car around a few times coming toward the cars at the starting line… then one last burn out and he left as well. I was on a drag strip at a "run what you brung" event. I was in a 69 Corvette 350 that would turn a respectable 14 seconds. I lined up and then a top fuel dragster pulls up next to me. I had just hit 4th when he launched and passed me like I was standing still.
PlsCheckThisBush@reddit
A twin turbo E92 M3 that was beyond expensive. I owned a pretty much stock one not too long after and while that thing screamed it had no business playing with superbikes like this guy did.
I was on my R1 on one of my many east coast trips to see family while I was in the navy. Bike was gutted and tuned for 1/8 mile drag racing. Only one headlight and tail lights. No signals, no mirrors, straight through exhaust, bored over to 1034cc, ECU tuned for 93 octane at 170.1whp. Had a power commander when I raced with U4 (130 octane) race gas pushing in the 200s for whp. Swapped out sprockets so it could put the power down and not just wheelie everywhere. Front end was strapped down when I launched at the track. Clutch sand-blasted for maximum grip, 369 lbs with a gallon of gas in it without me (like 160lbs at the time). I literally hack sawed everything I could to make it fast and light as fuck since I was 20 and clearly ready to take on the world.
I’m cruising back through SC, this M3 rolls up next to me. I usually just roll the throttle in 6th (top gear) and 99% of cars disappeared. This guy didn’t. I’m just rolling the throttle until about 90 and he’s beside me and pulling strong. I downshift a couple times and take off, hit about 140 and figured “well he’s done now” and lo and behold when I looked over this fucker was just barely behind me. At that point I had to give it all the beans and got it up to about 180 before I turned back and noticed I finally had a decent gap so I let off. I hopped behind him and took the next exit to the gas station (since I was pretty much out anyways lol) and he went over with me. I was scared as a dumbass kid thinking I’m about to get robbed but it was some older guy that was just excited as fuck to race a bike that was willing to put the power down and give it all the beans. We chatted at the gas station for a while and he showed me under the hood. This guy had MONEY MONEY in that car. Everything was like a chrome professional race shop look. He had no idea what sort of numbers it made (I still think he knew) but he said “I don’t know, 800? A thousand? I just told them I wanted the fastest M3 they could build.” And sir you did. As a kid that was used to obliterating R35s and Lambos with a tricked out R1 with barely any right hand twisting your fucking BMW was a genuine threat. I have no doubt you walked 600ccs all day long. And you had air conditioning. And a backrest. And a radio. I was just deaf to my loud ass bike barely able to see in the darkness.
I bought an E92 M3 a couple years later. I loved that car but man it had no shot against any 600cc+ bike. That guy had to get it modified to hell and back to put down the numbers he did. It had to be $50k+ in mods alone to support that platform especially considering how new it was at the time. I didn’t have that money and got mine repoed after a few years like the dumbass I was. I still have the bike though, and all the running from police and races like these as stories to go along with it. She sits parked nice and pretty in my garage next to our minivan. Every now and again I’ll take our middle daughter out on it and it’s just terrifying. Nobody needs that level of power. It does 115mph in first gear. Like you can just shift it into gear once and end up in prison if you hit it hard. It’ll just throw the front wheel up at 140mph in 3rd gear if you hit the throttle too hard. My daughter (13) loves being the coolest thing on the road with the custom white R1 super bike rolling down the road. But it genuinely scares me nowadays knowing I have family to come home to and it’s essentially a widow maker. I ride less than 100 miles a year now.

Not the fastest, but the most surprising. I got walked in the 1/8 mile by an air cooled VW Beetle. I was in my 77 Firebird (overbored 400 Pontiac, lots of head work, etc). I knew I was in trouble when he carried the front tires 20-30 feet. In the pits I saw she was built to the hilt and super lightweight. Billet cases the whole nine. Just looked like a yellow bug on the outside.

2018 GT Mustang I had was FBO on E85 with the 6MT and one night I came across a BMW SUV was tailgating me hard and then pulled up at a red light. I launch it and this thing TOOK OFF. I mean it was like racing a Tesla Plaid it took off on me so hard. It ended up being some young couple in a BMW X6M. After a few more pulls and dig races at a few lights we met up at a gas station dude had it tuned and was pushing like 850+hp. Thing had no right being so fast but man I was humbled that night.
Born4Nothin@reddit
I got my Mustang to 145+ mph (it apparently tops out at 149, Speedo only goes to 145 so I was prob going slightly faster) didn’t know my tires were almost 10 years old, lucky as hell nothing bad happened, this was on a bridge in the middle of the ocean at night

A few years back in my old supercharged 8th gen si (making ~380hp at the crank) I was able to pull on my cousins new 5.0 mustang so I felt cautiously optimistic when a blacked out n82 135i with a tall lip wing pulled up. I knew if it had the usual jb4 tune and bolt ons it would likely be making more power and torque but the civic was about 500lbs lighter and it had short gearing so I figured it could be a good race. We line up at about 60 which was perfect for the civic and all I hear is this dude start his rolling anti lag and I already knew it was over. By the 3rd beep he started pulling on me like I forgot to accelerate haha

I drive a 2016 lightly modded GTR Black Edition & was on my way to work super early one morning, like 4am. Pull up to a light next to a red Ferrari. No other vehicles in sight & it’s a good half mile to the next light. I gave the engine a little rev as I stared at the light, waiting for the green. Checked to make sure all 3 switches were in R mode. As soon as the light changed, I floored it! 0-60 in 3 seconds(-ish), so I looked around…and the MF was way back there going like 30mph. He didn’t even try!! Huge f’n letdown

My buddy was in a mid-90s AWD Legacy, and challenged me to keep up with him on a country road. He was tired of me boasting how fast my car was.
I made a valiant attempt to keep up with him, but a 1975 Gran Torino with a 7-cylinder Windsor didn't stand a chance. He was just tail-lights in the distance after a mile, when I hit a corner I wasn't expecting. I braked hard, too hard, and went into a four-wheel skid at 40 mph. I did a 180 into the ditch, facing back the way I came. It didn't noticeably damage the car at all, and I drove away; but I wasn't boasting anymore after that.

Doubt it. 152-hp in a 4100-lb car doesn't go very far.

Not against another car, but my dad took his 1961 Chrysler New Port with 361 V8, out on the Laguna Seco race track with my cousin Ernie (Ernie raced stock cars on the track) and was clocked at 137 mph. I learned to drive on dad’s car, but never ever tried to go that fast.

In 2011, I got to drive my father's 1963 AC Cobra before it went to auction. I did a couple laps around Ft. Lauderdale the night before. I only got it up to 80 mph because were on city streets. In 2007 I leased a new BMW M Coupe that was capped at 152 mph. I once had to punch it to merge into a gap in traffic on the freeway and when I glanced down at the speedo I was doing 110 mph which shocked me because it was almost instantaneous. Nowadays I daily my 1967 Series 2A Land Rover with a top speed of 70 mph downhill and a strong tailwind.

Way back in the late 90s at a track I (head/cam/intake Fox Body) lined up against a Mk4 Supra on drag radials. I expected to lose badly, assuming it was a BPU set up and would run a low 11 like BPU Supras of the day. But it ran a low 9 at 150+. No cage, no helmet. He got screamed at by the track and got kicked out.
At that time, a 9 second car was almost always very rowdy and you usually couldn't hide that it was that fast. Everyone was pretty shocked.

A friend of a friend took me for a spin in his drag racing truck. It was a 1991 Chevy pickup with these massive Hoosiers on the back. Roll cage. 5 pt harnesses. Stripped interior. Next to that my good friend has a Tesla X with the plaid option and the 0 to 100km/hr was just over 2 seconds.

Did that and the Indy Car one quite a few times. Fastest average lap around Texas Motor Speedway was 177mph in the Indy Car. Close to 200 on the straights and 155-160 through the corners. It was unbelievable how much grip the NASCAR cars had on that small of a tire tho. Blew my mind.

OK performance, same shit. Fast as hell.
Longjumping_Dark3827@reddit
plaid is 0-60 in 1.9. y performance is 3.5. they're both fast but nowhere the same shit, theres levels to shit. idk why mfs on reddit gotta deflect and deny when they're wrong instead of learning and moving on
haske0@reddit
because some mfs live in the real world and not on a spreadsheet. sub 4 second cars are not dime a dozen on your avg city streets. On city streets all you know is you just got spanked by a family SUV.
Longjumping_Dark3827@reddit
the plaid is not a family suv. If i ever got spanked by a family suv I would never think I got spanked by a plaid. you seem to have a very very limited understanding
haske0@reddit
So model y performance isn't a family SUV? Then what is it? OK Mr big shot what are you driving? It was a model y with that little plaque on the trunk. I was driving a BMW even with over 500hp which is plenty fast for city streets but I couldn't keep up with the Tesla. That's it that's all. As someone who's driven a Model 3P, YP and S Plaid, I can tell you a Plaid is a different level. The 3P and YP felt slow up top compared to the Plaid.
