What would you pay for a torn apart 77 C3 project if they had all of the parts?

Picture for attention. Completely torn apart no engine or tranny in the car but would come with both. Also no suspension installed. Just looking to get some ball park numbers. I'll be looking at it today. Thanks!
txkwatch@reddit
They never have all of the parts.
disco_lemonaide@reddit
Came here to say this.
cgw22@reddit (OP)
Well it’s a good thing I probably have the parts they are missing lmao
irregular-bananas@reddit
Personally I wouldn’t offer anything. But I want a vintage corvette like I want an STD
SnooMacarons3689@reddit
I’d pay $500 for them to keep it
Inevitable_Demand376@reddit
2 dollars
Snuffyluffaguss@reddit
They don't.
the_fools_brood@reddit
Basket case, in reality. No more than 1500 for someone else's problem. You could sell the parts for more, sure, but man you are buying a pile of parts basically. Don't know if motor is good, trans, rear end. So many problems here.
Blu_yello_husky@reddit
You can get a complete one in fair condition for 6k, so if I had a "complete" one in 1,000 pieces, id say 3-4k is fair, depending on how much of a hackjob the previous owner did during his "restoration"
CustomCarNerd@reddit
One dollar Bob!
Much_Fee_4085@reddit
Come say it with me; 👏Do 👏 not 👏 buy 👏 a 👏 strangers 👏 halfassed 👏 project👏
SanitaryTrout@reddit
Like $1500 max if the body is in decent condition
RCMike_CHS@reddit
1500 tops if in good and straight condition.
Few_Composer5125@reddit
I would pay to have it removed off my property
BreakfastTotal96@reddit
Reminds me of Corvette Summer.
Newzachary@reddit
$250, they deliver.
lightingthefire@reddit
No. Just no.
Local_Bobcat_2000@reddit
Not very much if it’s in pieces. Hood is modded who knows what else was changed and now doesn’t fit together.
cgw22@reddit (OP)
The picture is my 77 I bought a couple months ago.
mini4x@reddit
So thats not even the right car?
cgw22@reddit (OP)
Correct
mini4x@reddit
Well thats dumb, show the right car, lol..
Local_Bobcat_2000@reddit
Then I’d look for anything suspicious or non stock. Always a story why a project wasn’t finished. And don’t have time anymore may be a cover story.
Few-Professional2440@reddit
cdsbigsby@reddit
Oof, that's the worst way to buy a project.
Maybe a grand? Maybe?
cgw22@reddit (OP)
I’ve already got a 77 so it would be just more things roll for me to use
cdsbigsby@reddit
Oh if you're just buying it for parts that could be a great opportunity. I just hate trying to put stuff back together that someone else took apart.
cgw22@reddit (OP)
Yeah just for parts only reason I’m even looking at it.
mini4x@reddit
So like a grand.
That's only that hood isn't cracked at all.
404-skill_not_found@reddit
Negotiate like you want to drive it. That’ll keep the focus on what he’s selling and less on what you’re getting.
WeldStar207@reddit
I bought a 96 Celica Gt in that kinda condition for 800 so I'd say that's a pretty fair estimate I think.
WolfvonDoom@reddit
Because you have no way to verify the condition of anything involved, I would be reluctant to pick up a project like that unless it was very cheap.
BlangBlangBlang@reddit
Pay rolling chassis price, charge them to haul the boxes of used engine parts away
cgw22@reddit (OP)
That’s what I was thinking
Whizzleteets@reddit
Not much because there are solid, running vettes out there for very low money. They are the best bang for your buck.
bluenosesutherland@reddit
Is this the shell posted the other day at a junk yard?
cgw22@reddit (OP)
No guy local to me selling a 77 with “all the parts needed to get it running”. I’ve already got a 77 project so I’m just looking for parts
midnightstreetlamps@reddit
If you don't already have a plan, and/or a wealth of auto mechanical knowledge, it's hard to even suggest a price. Once upon like 2018, these were anywhere from $500 to 10k depending on condition, with $500 being flintstone floors and torqued body with doors that don't shut. (This end of the C3's has metal tub, not fiberglass) but in the post covid world, it's gonna be ANYWHERE depending whether the guy "knows what he's got" or knows what he's got.
TheRealRockyRococo@reddit
Words of wisdom: no matter how bad it looks, it's always worse.
HeHuBendzWrenches@reddit
Scrap steel price, thats what you’re buying. Parts is parts, seller isn’t listing items on eBay, he’s dumping unfinished laundry list of half done fuckery on somebody else, for a price that makes his pocket fatter with cash.
Plane-Education4750@reddit
I'd pay. No more than $20 and a sandwich, but I'd pay.
clarktoes@reddit
With that hood scoop. I would pass. Too hard to sell later
Thirsty_Comment88@reddit
I wouldn't
sladebonge@reddit
$300 if they're gonna bring it to me. $200 if i'm fetching it.
Any_Mathematician905@reddit
1000-1500 is what I pay for basket cases.
direcheetah4579@reddit
About a thousand bucks, maybe a little more because a 77 is one of my favorite years. Love the flat back window.
Just strip off everything else and sell the stock stuff. Aftermarket upgrades for suspension and brakes. Crate engine and a bitchin 4 speed. Oh yeah!!!
Public_Enemy_No2@reddit
You mean a “Basket Case “?
Dude_Love_1974@reddit
Not much, they probably uncovered something really fucking expensive that they are not telling you about and don't want to fix it.
AmericanDed@reddit
It would depend on lots of things. Could be up to $3k if it looks nice and whole under the hood/suspension/transmission
NixAName@reddit
They never have all the parts.
UnbelievableDingo@reddit
Anyone's abortion is a low ball situation.
You're assuming a lot of risk and wildcards.
I'd take the body and suspension, and pass on the motor and transmission for a modern LS engine and later transmission.
Definitely get the Torque tube, tho.
eejjkk@reddit
I wouldn't
ncoder@reddit
I have trouble putting back together a car _I_ took apart.
This would be a better project for someone who knows these cars very well. But with a good factory manual, tons of videos, and a metric ton of patience.... Anything is possible.
Aleutian_Solution@reddit
I’d pay about $1,500
