What is the best budget sports car?

In the mid 4s range 0-60
Only thing I could find that fits this is the Mustang Ecoboost. Looks pretty cool and the test drive was great might move forward with it.
Don’t know if anything else like this exists but thanks!
El_mochilero@reddit
You can buy base model 2005-2007 C6 Corvettes easily for $20k - $25k.
400hp 6.0L LS2 V8, rear wheel drive, available in a manual transmission, RWD, removable hard top, 4 second 0-60mph, top speed of 180+, infinite options for modifications, plus reliable & affordable ownership.
It’s the best performance car deal out right now.
Source: I own a 2007 Corvette and it f’ing rips.
Salty_Bandicoot3598@reddit
It’s hard to beat the bang for your buck with Corvettes. I’ve had a handful of them!
Smovve@reddit
Good daily?
El_mochilero@reddit
It’s a decent daily. The comfort and reliability are great. The trunk is incredibly huge for such a high performance car.
It drinks gas like a mf’er and only takes 91 octane, so it’s $80 to fill up its massive 18 gallon tank(s) and I only get ~300 miles on a tank.
TreesACrowd@reddit
Damn, you must be having a ton of fun to be averaging 16 mpg. I daily a 2010 Grand Sport and see ~22 mpg mixed, about 380 miles to a tank. That includes a fair amount of highway driving but I have fun with it too.
El_mochilero@reddit
Yeah, I just bought it a few weeks ago, so I’ve been driving a little more spirited than usual.
Icy_Comparison_1029@reddit (OP)
So far from what I’ve seen here this seems the best. I will find some and test some out. I very much appreciate your help. Thank you.
butterpog@reddit
Also gotta say, some people think it's not that fast or whatever and don't like them. But I have a 350z, can be super affordable and a gorgeous car in my opinion, I take care of it and it is so damn reliable. It's pretty quick, fun around corners. And a lot less common than vettes and mustangs, I get tons of compliments.
illinest@reddit
Can I offer an intervention?
I own a corvette. I love corvettes.
But they arent necessarily more fun to drive than a slower car.
I have driven fast cars like the Nissan GTR and GT2 Porsche 911 and they are so fast that you dont really even have a chance to enjoy them. You can do 120+ like its nothing and then youre overtaking highway traffic so fast that its like youre the only one moving.
It is more fun to drive a slow car fast than to drive a fast car slow.
Maybe try a WRX, a Civic Si, Toyota 86, etc... Im just saying....
Buckeyebornandbred@reddit
It's true. Fast acceleration means less time having fun acceleration. If it's the journey and not the destination, then you cut the journey way too short.
El_mochilero@reddit
Good luck! The Corvette community is huge and there is TONS of info available online.
This video is a great buyer’s guide and a great place to start: https://youtu.be/QiOZciFMRGE?si=3sS_tmRKwmIvZFv-
I LOVE my ‘07 base model. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions about the ownership experience.
cumaboardladies@reddit
Exactly why I just picked up a 2008 z51 with the LS3 for $18k
El_mochilero@reddit
How’d you get an ‘08 for that price?!?!? That’s either the deal of a lifetime or a car with some history.
StuffIanWrote@reddit
I’ve never owned one, but I sure do eye listings for Corvettes for entertainment. For what they are, I can’t name a better bang for the buck than as much Corvette as one can afford.
El_mochilero@reddit
Get one if you can! They are amazing cars to drive and to own. Easy to buy, easy to sell, easy to maintain.
I think the C6’s still look amazing, and they don’t attract a ton of attention. I love mine!
StuffIanWrote@reddit
I’m a German car fan first and foremost; but I really want to add an American V8. The C7 Z06 really speaks to me…but a C6 (any trim, really) makes a lot of sense.
Anyway, don’t tempt me any more than I already am. I’m gonna go look at CarGurus for no particular reason now…
El_mochilero@reddit
I love some of the spicy Audis and BMW M cars. If I was looking for a daily, I’d be looking there. But for a second car that is a pure sports car, the C6 has blown me away. Especially at this price.
Check out Facebook Marketplace- that’s where I found mine.
StuffIanWrote@reddit
Oh yeah. If were shopping to acquire, FB Marketplace. But since I just wanted to see shiny things with the ability to efficiently filter results.
TellemTom@reddit
If 0-60 times are all you care about you might as well buy any used EV lmao
Icy_Comparison_1029@reddit (OP)
I don’t like how EV drives I like feeling the power of an engine. Tried a Mustang Mach-e and didn’t like it
UnderTheFrozenSky@reddit
People downvoting you for wanting a gas car lol
__slamallama__@reddit
The only thing they wanted in the post was 0-60 where gas cars are just objectively worse. It's not a crazy suggestion
bc10551@reddit
Tbf 0-60 in a gas car has actual engine sounds and is a completely different experience
loveliverpool@reddit
Like vibrations and shift lag, likely slower pace. Your basic AWD from most EVs can torch non-supercars and they just keep fucking pulling
bc10551@reddit
Aight bro who hurt you. You've clearly never been in any nicer non-supercar if that's all you can say is different. And most evs are not pulling anywhere near as much as even sports sedans when they're at like 30+ mph
chemicalpretengineer@reddit
Even a Tesla model y long range will press you into your seat at 70 mph. Based on your comment, I have to assume the only EV you’ve driven is 2016 Chevy Bolt.
sunbro2000@reddit
It's a soulless toaster. Fun for a pull or two but ultimately boring. Cornering is way more fun imo
GlitteringPen3949@reddit
Miata is always the answer.
chemicalpretengineer@reddit
Oh I totally agree. And you’re going to find more opportunities to use the cornering ability in most places than the straight line speed.
Kaiathebluenose@reddit
theyre very slow at 70 mph.idk what youre talkin about
bc10551@reddit
Yeah I think they're comparing it to a Camry or smth. Tesla owners coming from an old economy car to a modern EV and being surprised it's more modern and faster
bc10551@reddit
I mean it will press you into your seat but it's not really any different from a faster ice car at that point lol
chemicalpretengineer@reddit
I can’t wait to by an E46 M3, but lowerliverpool is totally right. The low-end torque means most EVs will destroy gas powered cars.
If you want 0-60 (like OP says) then go EV. If you want handling and driving experience, then get something else.
bc10551@reddit
0-60 in an EV feels so boring to me compared to a gas car even with stuff like a model 3 performance. The shifts and noise add so much drama that you just don't get imo. It's crazy the first few times but then eh
Waste_Business5180@reddit
I have a manual shift Camaro and I wouldn’t trade the feeling of driving it for anything. Going from first to second in spirited driving is a blast. Quiet acceleration seems pretty boring. I don’t like to go particularly fast anyway.
Kaiathebluenose@reddit
literally the opposite. they dont keep pulling at all, they fuckin die at like 70mph
CBus660R@reddit
See, I'm old. I've been there done that. What impressed me with the Tesla Model Y dual motor was the performance without the noise lol
bc10551@reddit
Idk I need the drama but maybe you get numb to it
CBus660R@reddit
Can always find other outlets for that, I have 3 dirtbikes lol For the record, I don't have an EV yet, just waiting on my company to install the fast charger they keep talking about.
Several_Ad_6576@reddit
If you mean the experience is different by being slower then you would be correct.
My wife drove my plugin hybrid on electric only mode and her response was “Holy fuck! That car just wants to go!” I will never go back.
per54@reddit
I have a fast EV and a fast gas car. The gas car, while ‘slower’ is much more fun to drive. The sound, feel of the gears, and engine and exhaust noises are world’s apart.
My gas car is a V12 BiTurbo.
I’ve had model S plaid, lucid, Taycan, Mercedes EV… all are faster but not as fun
Own-Inflation8771@reddit
We're programmed to react to sound and vibration which togethet provide a more visceral 0-60 experience than pure acceleration alone. Additionally, op is looking for a sportscar which would evoke a "holy fuck" reaction not just from acceleration but also from braking due to massive brakes and cornering forces from big sticky tires....both of which your plug in hybrid lacks. You SHOULD go back. But keep the plug in for whats it's great at...A-B fuel efficient transport.
Several_Ad_6576@reddit
Visceral? So if a car goes 0-60 in 14 seconds but the car is falling apart, that’s good?
Flying a P-40 was something. I’m sure everyone who flew one of those thought a P-51 was way better experience. I think the visceral experience of an EV is like stepping up to an F-16.
Own-Inflation8771@reddit
All 3 of those aircraft are ICE and have soul, personality and gravitas unlike EVs. Can't really draw parallels to fighter planes and Teslas anyway. LOL. And I'd love to see your 14 second to 60 jalopy from the 60s. A good population of ICE cars these days are twice as quick to 60.
AJHenderson@reddit
My 24 M3P on the other hand has out canyon carved a Miata.
Own-Inflation8771@reddit
The Miata guy had more fun though.
AJHenderson@reddit
Not from when he got a chance to try the M3P.
Remarkable-System749@reddit
dont car guys mod their cars? performance brake kits and sticky tires exist for all cars, EVs included.
patches710@reddit
Lol come on now. My 6.2L supercharged v8 is similarly fast to most ev, but the experience of ringing it out to 6k RPM to get there is vastly different than a plaid.
Several_Ad_6576@reddit
Yeah probably is similarly fast. Power is power. But my Plugin is much smoother off the line as opposed to every other car I’ve driven that has to shift. And that 6.2L uses how much gas? I haven’t had to purchase any since mid February. I will take similar power and as far as I’m concerned a better driving experience and lower daily operating costs. But I’m just 1 person who may not drive the same way as others.
patches710@reddit
Better driving experience is subjective. I want to shift my own gears, feel the vibrations and hear the roar. That's half the point for me. So removing all those and just going fast doesn't do it for me. This isn't my primary car, it's only purpose is to be fun, so gas mileage is mostly irrelevant.
bc10551@reddit
Idk my m440i is plenty quick lmao. And pretty much as quick as anything that's not a model 3 performance/a plaid. And at highway speeds it's going to pull a lot harder
Plato2026@reddit
I love the sound of a good engine. I love rowing gears. I have gas cars and also a Tesla. After having the tesla for 4 years, it's hard not to associate engine sounds with a vehicle being objectively slower.
AJHenderson@reddit
I feel your pain. I never cared about the sound, but I loved manual transmission. Now I can only see shifting as losing power.
beipphine@reddit
The best gas cars are doing 0-60 in 2.1-2.2 seconds. The best EVs are doing it in 1.9-2 seconds. The difference is small.
The best gas powered production cars were doing the mid 4's 0-60 in the 1960's (e.g. Ford Fairlane Thunderbolt 4.5, Chevrolet Corvette L88 4.2, Shelby Cobra 427 S/C, 4.0)
The best budget sports car is a Ford Mustang GT for $46k with a 0-60 of 4.3 with the standard transmission.
For a bit more, the best "budget" sports car is a base C8 Chevrolet Corvette for $70,000, a 0-60 of 2.9 seconds.
Akjn435@reddit
Not sure you can possibly convince me that a C8 corvette is a budget sports car. It would be a premium sports car in my opinion. Maybe you could call it a budget super car.
I would even say that the mustang gt is not really a budget sports car, that's what the ecoboost is along with cars like the miata and the gr86.
beipphine@reddit
It is budget in the context of the performance per dollar, there is no sports car that you get so much performance at that price point. To get the same level of performance as a $70,000 corvette, you're going to be in a far more expensive platform with any other automaker. Porsche 911 starts at $135,000, Mercedes AMG GT - $106,000, Lotus Emira $107,000, Aston Martin Vantage $195,000. Yeah it doesn't have the interior quality of the European competitors, but it is in this context that it is a "budget" sports car.
I don't consider the ecoboost mustang to be a sports car, It's a sports car like a Mustang II is a sports car. If you're going to spend the money to get a mustang, there is no reason not to spend a little more to get the V8. Plus screw how Ford is trying to shove turbocharged ecoboost down everybodies throats, you'll never convince me a wet belt camshaft is a good idea.
Sure the Miata and GR86 are nice sports cars, but they're not doing 0-60 in the 4's.
UnderTheFrozenSky@reddit
I didn't say it was a crazy suggestion. I'm saying it's ridiculous to downvote him for not wanting an EV.
digitalwankster@reddit
I can’t imagine ever going back to an ICE vehicle tbh
UnderTheFrozenSky@reddit
Ok but he wants a sports car and I don't think he's cross shopping $100k EVs with an ecoboost Mustang.
digitalwankster@reddit
Fair enough I’m just saying you can get a used 2023 Audi Etron GT for like $40k
UnderTheFrozenSky@reddit
A 5000 lb GT is not really a sports car though. Not to say it's not a fine car, it just is clearly not what he's after.
digitalwankster@reddit
Fair enough. It’s got a 3s 0-60s so I guess that makes it a supercar more than a sports car anyway. I’m looking at them right now so I’m biased haha.
UnderTheFrozenSky@reddit
I don't want to debate terms but most people would not consider it a supercar. Acceleration is one part of it, but so is max speed and handling characteristics. It is a high performance GT by classification.
digitalwankster@reddit
It shares the same platform as the Porsche Taycan which is considered a sports car on Porsche.com and Google’s AI overview also calls it a supercar. I think in the age of EV’s the term supercar has become kind of worthless though since the torque band on electric motors is linear.
UnderTheFrozenSky@reddit
The R8 goes 200 mph, weighs 3700 lb and can pull 1.2g laterally. Those stats along with its 3 second 0-60 make it a supercar. You also were talking about the base model GT which is not the car whose stats you are citing (the RS costing nearly twice as much used as the $40k you cited earlier).
digitalwankster@reddit
I’ll concede on all of those points. Touché
AlgernusPrime@reddit
A supercar is not determined by 3s 0-60, hell my family MYP will be a supercar if that’s the criteria. A supercar is usually exotic, fast, prestige, loud theatrics, and has a presence.
digitalwankster@reddit
Yeah a MYP doesn’t look exotic and isn’t prestigious. According to Google the definition of supercar is 500+ hp, exotic design, and low production with a typical 0-60s of 3s. Which of those criteria does the Etron GT not meet?
Final_TV@reddit
you must hate road trips
digitalwankster@reddit
I have an Expedition for longer road trips but in general my Hummer EV gets me everywhere I need without issues (~300 miles)
Sure_Maybe_No_Ok@reddit
No he said sports car and looks cool as well.
DoobieGibson@reddit
it was just one idea, he’s asking for the best budget sports car and just mentioned how fast he wants one
Live-Wrap-4592@reddit
“Sure the car accelerates quickly and smoothly, but was it too fast and too smooth?”
UnderTheFrozenSky@reddit
Some people want the roar of an engine and the feel of a manual transmission. He's asking for a sports car so he probably wants a car that isn't 4000-5000 pounds as well.
AJHenderson@reddit
He wants power and also cheap and also light though. That's a pick 2 of 3 problem.
UnderTheFrozenSky@reddit
That's a used Corvette problem imo
Live-Wrap-4592@reddit
Sure, he just didn’t feel the need to explain himself, so it’s easy for ev drivers to hate on the nearly undefended position of “I want a car with a lot of torque but not like that”
UnderTheFrozenSky@reddit
Well he did say a budget sports car and an EV sports car is a hell of a lot more than an ecoboost Mustang.
Desperate-Till-9228@reddit
That's the most fun part of a muscle/sports car. You're not going to be racing between stop lights most of the time.
breaststroker42@reddit
Sometimes your steak is too juicy and your lobster is too buttery
ooo00@reddit
I own a Model Y performance. You degree the power when punching it. Best power per dollar ratio you will find.
AJHenderson@reddit
On a budget you aren't going to be feeling the power of an engine. You can make a low power thing loud, but your criteria are mutually exclusive.
Icy_Comparison_1029@reddit (OP)
Ok buddy
Bumbalard@reddit
Forget what you think you know after driving the Mach E.
Test drive a Model 3 Performance with the accel control in sport mode and the the steering set to heavy.
Halfway through, park, and put it in track mode. Enjoy, then slap the grin off your face.
I love engines, but I will never not own a performance EV at this point. They are insane. I'd sell my gas car before the EV.
AlgernusPrime@reddit
Sure, I have a MYP and it’s a great car for its intended purpose, which isn’t a fun sporty car but the M3P might. Having said that, my Cayman, with half the power is 10x more fun on any track, sure it might be slower, but the driving dynamics and feel are pure. It’s built as a sports car, a M3P is an appliance that is crazy fast. Two different worlds of ethos and driving dynamics.
I’ll sell my MYP in a heartbeat over my Cayman.
AJHenderson@reddit
You need to try the new M3P. As someone who has both a late 23 MYP and a 24 M3P, they are not remotely comparable when it comes to driving dynamics.
I've literally out carved a Miata in dense s turns. The thing is so planted and handles so well around curves that it feels like it's defying the laws of physics.
74orangebeetle@reddit
You're calling the model 3 performance an appliance because you don't like your crossover SUV and have never driven a model 3 performance....ok. the model Y doesn't even have track mode
Kaiathebluenose@reddit
meh. m3p is a good car and its fun but its soulless and not as fun as proper sports car. better than a normal sedan for sure.
XtraChrisP@reddit
Any used IS350 will give you what you're looking for with decent handling and ultra reliability.
Slow_S60_@reddit
Won’t get you mid 4s
XtraChrisP@reddit
Neither does an Ecoboost, although it's quicker when it runs.
Federal-Carrot7930@reddit
Actually depending on the year the Ecoboost does run mid 4s provided the driver can get traction lol.
XtraChrisP@reddit
I couldn't find proof of this. 4.9 was the lowest I saw. But that, for half a second over a Lexus?
AccurateIt@reddit
Car and Driver ran a 4.5 0-60 in the 2024 which is the current generation Mustang.
XtraChrisP@reddit
And it's still a pos even if it's quicker. What's your point? OP typed some numbers, so nobody can suggest an alternative to drive before they buy?
rdadeo@reddit
Yep, I don't think they will run that quick even after its first 12 to 15 times having that ecoboost "repaired". Gawd that engine is a pail of crap. Only company that makes one worse is GM.
bc10551@reddit
An is350 is a complete joke if we're talking about even remotely sporty cars
XtraChrisP@reddit
Compared to a Mustang Eco? Meh.
bc10551@reddit
Most definitely compared to an eco boost lmao. Had more fun in a basic economy car lmao. Maybe the 8 speed in the rwd is decent but the AWD is350 is honestly horrible ngl
Plato2026@reddit
Take a performance out for a drive, and exit the corner like you want to. Guaranteed your opinion changes.
Trident_77@reddit
Or a motorcycle
hellosillypeopl@reddit
First time I’ve ever seen a question about a cheap car and the answer wasn’t Miata. Although that makes sense since he cares about 0-60.
Rare-One1047@reddit
An EV conversion Miata is the correct answer this time.
RSinTO@reddit
But Miata is always the answer? OP should get a Miata.
Graywulff@reddit
Monster Miata. LSx conversion into a vette motor might solve all op concerns.
They’re on Miata.net
leungadon@reddit
Miata with a turbo or k20 swap… obviously!
Far-Telephone-7432@reddit
I really share that sentiment. I was so used to driving underpowered diesel econoboxes (Peugeot 208) with manual transmissions (to compensate for the lack of horsepower), that driving an electric car feels amazing.
Renault Zoé >>>>> Peugeot 208 diesel (80hp)
NJdestroyed@reddit
Isn't that the muscle car formula? Fit a lot of motor in a little car to get speed- sporting handling and breaking are a second thought? I guess some EVs are muscle cars
Hunefer1@reddit
The difference is high power EVs are usually AWD not RWD.
Sure_Maybe_No_Ok@reddit
He literally said it’s not just about 0-60 times.
Different_Sock_8689@reddit
Yeah dude, some EV has like 2 seconds 0-60
kevincaz07@reddit
Yeah Tesla S Plaid ~2 seconds but expensive, some in mid 2s (Taycan) and also expensive.
A lot of affordable choices under 4 seconds 0-60. I just picked up a '23 Mach-E GTPE for $32k and 0-60 is 3.5 seconds.
mrchowmein@reddit
If OP likes sounds and vibrations, one of the older model s performance trims will be great. Blisteting acceleration with all the rattles and shakes to let you know you’re in a land rocket
InvertedMetronome@reddit
I was thinking the same thing. You can get a used Model 3 Performance for mid to upper 20’s now.
spewing-oil@reddit
Got a 22’ model Y long range with acceleration boost for $25k a couple months ago with 1 year warranty. Easy 4 sec 0-60 and 12 flat 1/4. Turning kinda sucks tho.
robert32940@reddit
I think you can get a new one for not much more.
Traditional-Tune7198@reddit
Model 3 is about 70grand canadian new bud.
GeneralMotorsLS3@reddit
No one cares about Canadian
Apprehensive-Read989@reddit
New Model 3 Performance is more like $55k, the base Model 3 is around $37k.
Heavy_Importance2491@reddit
Are there convertible EVs? A hardtop isn't much of a sports car.
Casalf@reddit
Yeah i hate when mfs makes posts like these lol. Imo, People like this are casual ass noobs.
SecondVariety@reddit
A used C5 Z06 - had one for 2 years, sold it for more than I paid for it. Undeniably quick.
wcm3631@reddit
Why’d you sell it? I’m looking at buying a corvette and every single one of them has like 3+ previous owners.
TraumaBondage@reddit
I'd guess repair cost. If anything breaks, parts are crazy expensive. A sensor in the seat broke on my dad's 91 vette in the late 90s, and it was a thousand bucks.
HottDoggers@reddit
I hope that doesn’t mean the C7 is as expensive to fix because I want one bad 🙃
SecondVariety@reddit
Had a WRX and a Z06, wanted the best of both worlds... and then somehow decided a EvoX GSR would be a good middle ground between the two with a few upgrades....
The Z06 had a leaking trunk lid and the factory antitheft system decided to lock the steering column and limit speed randomly from time to time. Reflashed the ECU and disabled the steering column lock. Over time it just became a pain to deal with.
Corse46@reddit
That’s not uncommon with Corvettes, or sports cars in general. People buy them at stages in their life, enjoy it, then something changes like kids or family and 2 seats no longer works so they sell them. It doesn’t necessarily mean the owners didn’t love the car and take care of it. I’m the 4th owner of my C6 over 10yr and it was in absolutely spectacular condition, 19k miles.
Tuques@reddit
You won't ever get more bang for your buck than a v8 mustang charger or camaro
Icy_Comparison_1029@reddit (OP)
I know I’m gonna get flak for this but I don’t want a charger they’re ghetto/bad credit cars at this point
HottDoggers@reddit
And a Dodge product 😂
xxFLYBOYxx@reddit
As a white dude with a snackpack and a 824 credit score, there are dozens of us, dozens I say! Lol

White R/T owner with 786 here!
Tuques@reddit
Hey thats your prerogative. I personally think the srts look amazing and the hemis are amazing to add power to for cheap. Easily a 600hp car for less than 25k
TheFlashOfLightning@reddit
R/T chargers can be had for ~$5k-$8k depending on how many miles you don’t mind and if you get a 7th gen
BarberDry4590@reddit
2015 Jaguar F Type. Back when Ford made them, so they are fairly reliable. The engine is directly over the front axle so weight distribution is amazing. It has wide rear wheel tires that glue the car to the road. It's an amazing car to drive
6 cylinder is mid 4's. 8 cylinder is mid 3s. Both are quick and sound amazing.
Finally, it's arguably one of the most beautiful cars ever made.
metromoto88@reddit
A lightly used sports car.
jaquatics@reddit
I wouldn't consider a mustang a sports car. Muscle car, yes. If you want a fast, cheap, sports car you're probably looking at old Corvettes. If you want an adorable sports car that isn't <5s 0-60 then Miatas, brz/86's, could be bought newer.
Total-Improvement535@reddit
historically mustangs are sports cars not muscle cars since they’ve been compact or midsize and not full size like most muscle cars are considered to be
TellemTom@reddit
Compared to 86s or Miata’s they’re boats.
kraize00@reddit
If you’re calling a mustang a boat, so is a lotus emira, a c8 corvette, and any M car made in the last 10 years. Are those not sports cars?
RunninOnMT@reddit
I have an M2 competition. It’s not a sports car. It’s a fast coupe….like a mustang.
Dont get me wrong, I love these cars. You can easily daily them with almost zero downsides.
Thats not now actual sports cars work though. At least not in my opinion. Sports cars compromise on all that practicality stuff so they can be more entertaining to drive. That’s why so many of them are 2 seaters.
Choosing that option allows them to place the seats very close to the point of rotation, meaning the vehicle rotates around you. I love having back seats in my M2 for space reasons, but you do notice the seat being placed a bit further forward in the chassis vs what’s ideal.
I am actively seeking to buy a Miata so I can have a sports car in addition to my fast daily.
kraize00@reddit
Is a 350z a sports car? If yes, then why is a mustang not a sports car?
If a 350z isn’t a sports car, why is a Miata a sports car? What about a 350z stripped of 500 lbs?
I don’t understand what the boundary is
Heavy_Importance2491@reddit
The Miata is a sports car because it's a two seat convertible; a knock off Elan.
Mustang convertibles are a bit big but the rear seat is unusable so they're sports cars in the same way as a big Healey.
The 350z is a cramped sedan.
kraize00@reddit
this sounds extremely arbitrary
Heavy_Importance2491@reddit
Is there a soft top version of the 350z? (I don't follow rice burners). If not, it's eliminated on that, clear cut, not at all arbitrary, basis.
kraize00@reddit
There is. It’s incredibly ugly
Club_Penguin_Legend_@reddit
My CRZ is a sports car because it has no rear seats. Ignore the 122hp hybrid engine. Its the seats that make it a sports car
Heavy_Importance2491@reddit
I had to look up a CRZ. Seems to be a small sedan. Not convertible, not a contender.
Club_Penguin_Legend_@reddit
You seem to misunderstand what qualifies as a sedan. The 350z is a two door two seater and so is my CRZ. That, by definition, makes it not a sedan and aligns more with sports car territory.
Heavy_Importance2491@reddit
Dear oh dear, "solidity of chassis" is an unlikely attribute for a sports car. But, no doubt, your Honda Civic is more solid than a Lotus 7, a frogeyed Sprite, or an MGA.
Club_Penguin_Legend_@reddit

The big healeys were more GT than sports cars. The 100m was a sports car/racer, but once the 300 six was put into place, they became treacherous in their handling.
Thst is my true definition of sports car. It is light weight and puts handling above all else. Some of your best sports cars were actually not all that fast in a straight line.
This is why the miata and cars like the Porsche booster and Cayman are sports cars and things like the corvette and 911 are up in the near supercar level.
The BMW Mcars are sports sedans, and the Z cars are GT cars. They are cars you can get on and drive across the country in very fast comfort no matter what twists and turns are in your way. Do not try that in a Miata or any of the 86 siblings.
Heavy_Importance2491@reddit
I have a 100/6 BN6, I trust you would accept that as a sports car. I also have a BMW E93 which I think is a cruiser and, indeed, I drove it from Toronto to Vancouver and back last summer. The BMW is, obviously, more powerful but it's a big car and makes me feel like a stout respectable German banker.
A sports car should have an element of danger to it, I found the TR6 and Jensen-Healey too much like sedans with the top cut off, too tame.
I can't be having any hard top as a sports car, Boxster, oh yes, Cayman, nah, that's for my mum.
Willing_Sink_3623@reddit
350z has no back seat, sports car. mustang is a pony car, it invented the segment. a miata is a roadster, not a sports car.
RunninOnMT@reddit
I don’t think there’s a strict line, but I think the Mustang and the M2 are far enough out of that category to exclude them.
I’d tend to include the 350z just because they changed the wheelbase to shorten it compared to the G35 coupe it’s based on when they took out the rear seats. But I’m also not going to cry if someone says it’s not a sports car.
Final_TV@reddit
you make 0 sense. you just hate newer cars with electric components. you just miss hydraulic feelings.
Akjn435@reddit
M2 competition not a sports car? A sports car is just a car that was optimized for driving performance. M2 definitely is lmao. There's not really any reason to be so exclusive with your definition of what a sports car is. I think "sports cars" encompasses a pretty broad group of cars.
Beef_Candy@reddit
If an m2 competition is not a sports car, a Miata is DEFINITELY not a sports car.
Your M2 would absolutely decimate a Miata around any track. It would be pitiful to watch.
RunninOnMT@reddit
You’re talking about a fast car. I’m talking about a sports car, concentrates on things like driver involvement, feel etc.
Performance cars are fast. Usually sports cars are also high performance cars but not always.
I have been dailying the M2 for 7 years. I have multiple race cars that aren’t street legal. I love all those cars, but trust me when I say the M2, fast and excellent as it is, is not trying to be some “drive it with your fingertips” experience. It’s a sledgehammer, not unlike a mustang. Incredibly enjoyable, but not a sports car.
sofiestarr@reddit
It just depends on what definition of sports car you're using, there's quite a few.
Traditionally it had to be a 2-seater rwd roadster.
micifaramustar@reddit
Good to know that the alpine a110 isn't a sports car.
sofiestarr@reddit
If you're talking about the original it was marketed as a Berlinetta, a type of sports coupé. So yeah not a sports car in the traditional serse.
micifaramustar@reddit
10/10 rage bait, good job!
frost-bite999@reddit
This makes no sense. The M2 Comp is literally made to be a sports car. Tested on race tracks. Sticky summer tires. Drivetrain compromised to not support 4 wheel drive. S series engines with cooling and oiling modifications to make sure it survives on the race track (you can't make hard left turns on an N55 or there would be oil starvation issues). Platform is used in official racing classes...
I can go on and on..
Phrexeus@reddit
It all depends on how you define a sports car. An M2 Competition literally uses the BMW 2 series platform, so you have front engine, rear wheel drive, rear seats, big boot, strut suspension. The platform was designed was to be a small, daily drivable coupe with space for luggage and rear passengers. They can't change that fundamental design when building the M versions.
That's very different to a car that has been designed from the ground up to be a sports car and uses its own dedicated platform which allows for things like mid-engine layout, double wishbone suspension, minimal weight, a focus on handling and balance.
Heavy_Importance2491@reddit
And you have. It's a little sedan. It can be fun, like an Escort Mexico or a hot hatch, but it's not a sports car at all.
RunninOnMT@reddit
They built a practical hatchback, then turned that into a coupe then turned that into a fast car.
It’s great and I love it, but the legacy of starting out as a practical vehicle is everywhere. It makes it a very good dual usage car or daily driver but there’s also a ton of superfluous stuff not contributing to making the car fun to drive due to that particular design process.

Whoa bud. The Emira/Evora and Mustang comparison is a terrible one to make. I have owned a GT and a Shelby GT350 as well as an 11 N/A Evora and now a 14 S. The Emira is based on the Evora. The Lotus and Mustangs drive completely differently. The Mustang you feel the weight of the car in every curve you take. The Lotus simply doesn’t do that. They are not even close to being the same. The Mustang is not a sports car at its heart. It can be made to be close though.
TellemTom@reddit

What makes mustangs overweight? They’re heavy, but it’s not due to unnecessary bloat.
350z on the other hand is overweight. It’s almost the same weight as the much larger g35 sedans of the same years

200 lb difference or so. Here are contemporary reviews of both cars. (They mention the weight of the previous G35 in the body of the first article below)

Why are you bringing the GTD anywhere near this conversation. Nobody here will come close to owning one.
Zee216@reddit
It's a mustang
SuccessfulHospital54@reddit
So all corvettes will smoke all mustangs because a zr1x ran a 6:49?
Zee216@reddit
I said what I said. Miata and 86 are both slow cars, deliberately. They do not and cannot compete with Mustang. That's not what they are made for or are good at.
SuccessfulHospital54@reddit
Yea, they’re slow. So is the mustang. An s550 mustang gt apparently takes 8 minutes and change on the Nurburgring. Slower than both of those cars. A GTD is unobtainable so you can’t compare that.
Zee216@reddit
SuccessfulHospital54@reddit
So why would you bring them up? No, they cater to different markets. Mustangs are good in straight lines yes, not so much in corners. In corner heavy tracks, that 4000 lb mustang gt will have more trouble than the half ton lighter 86. And the ecoboost mustang only has 315 hp, which is also a mustang.
Zee216@reddit
I didn't.
SuccessfulHospital54@reddit
You brought up the times of heavily modified cars for some reason. If you didn’t want to compare them to the 8 minute lap set by the gt then don’t bring them up.

The mustang range operates in a higher performance category than 86 or Miata. This is my premise this is what I am arguing. Do you dispute this premise.
SuccessfulHospital54@reddit
Yes, I said that an 86 will do much better in corner heavy tracks, which means lots of corners, and you sent times from a track that is 3 straight lines. Ofc the mustang is gonna be faster in straight lines, I’m not debating that.

Heavy_Gap_5047@reddit
They're called pony cars.
Total-Improvement535@reddit
I have never heard of a sports car only being allowed to have two seats. Where did you get that from?
“Pony car” is a type of sport car, btw, not a standalone genre.
Dont_Care_Meh@reddit
Seriously. My GR86 is a 2+2. It's definitely a sports car.
This thread is pretty wild, tbh. So much weird gatekeeping going on.
RunninOnMT@reddit
It’s not really gatekeeping unless you inherently think one type of car is superior to another type of car. Pony cars and sports cars are both awesome but are created with slightly different goals in mind. If you think something belongs not in one category but rather an equally cool category, it’s not gatekeeping.
It’s more the “we are arguing over semantics” style of stupidity imho.
Dont_Care_Meh@reddit
Meant more like some people here are ferociously doubling down on what they say a sports car is, and insisting everyone else is wrong, and only they have the answer. It's pretty ridiculous. But, welcome to Reddit, I guess.
RunninOnMT@reddit
Yeah, i think there’s some of that, but some people just like arguing and/or talking about this stuff.
It can be fun or it can sound like people yelling at one another. It’s probably a bit of both, but you’re right, reddit does make normal ass communication difficult.

Heavy_Gap_5047@reddit
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/sports%20car
A pony car is a type of sedan that was specifically defined by the Mustang, thus the name pony car. In 1964 is was a quite new genre of car and thus defined the category.
soggybiscuit93@reddit
Pony Car was a specific type of cars in the 60s and 70s.
How do we, in the 2020s, define the terms "Pony Car" and "Sports Car" in such a way that a Mustang is a Pony Car, but not a Sports Car, and how would would that same definition boundary apply to other cars, like the M3 coupe, Challenger, etc.
Heavy_Gap_5047@reddit
Two seats.
So no neither an M3 coupe or Challenger are sports cars.
soggybiscuit93@reddit
So an M3 is a Pony Car?
Heavy_Gap_5047@reddit
I think part of a pony car definition is being American, I'd call an M3 a sports coupe/sedan, depending on model
soggybiscuit93@reddit
And if it wasn't American, what would it be?
Heavy_Gap_5047@reddit
If what wasn't?
soggybiscuit93@reddit
The Mustang
Heavy_Gap_5047@reddit
The term pony car wouldn't exist, so it's a moot question.
soggybiscuit93@reddit
That's kinda my point, though. I think the term "Pony Car" should remain a description of a specific point in automotive history - the 60's/70's.
I think using the term Pony Car to describe any modern car is pointless and shouldn't be used.
Heavy_Gap_5047@reddit
Even the modern Mustang, that seems silly given how much like the 60s Mustang it is?
soggybiscuit93@reddit
It's not very 60s like at all. It's very well rounded with good handling
RunninOnMT@reddit
Well so was a 60s Mustang by the standards of the 60s. I do think the modern Mustang is a pretty decent approximation of that within the context of the time these cars existed/exist.
I don’t subscribe to “pony cars only existed in the 60s and 70s” but it’s an interesting perspective/idea. I don’t hate it.
Heavy_Gap_5047@reddit
So was the 60s Mustang, by 60s metrics.
notLennyD@reddit
It would be a GT car.
Grand touring cars are basically sports cars with fixed roofs and longer wheelbases.

Total-Improvement535@reddit

Well nobody is going to beat you up over it. You're free to be as wrong as you like.

Heavy_Gap_5047@reddit
And the Javelin.
Zapatos-Grande@reddit
Didn't realize the original 'Cuda beat the Mustang to the market by two weeks. The 1960s big 3 were wild.
Heavy_Gap_5047@reddit
Well, really the above about the pony car term is a massive oversimplification. It was really the popularity of the Mustang that had it define the genre. If we really want to go with the first of the genre it's probably the Studebaker Hawk in '56.
Zapatos-Grande@reddit
Yeah, Mustang made the genre what it became.
Heavy_Gap_5047@reddit
Yup, was about to edit the above cause even that is wrong. The Studebaker President in '53 is every bit a "pony car".
Heavy_Importance2491@reddit
Traditionally a sports car has two seats, no superstructure behind the windshield, and a manual transmission, A Morgan +8 is a sports car. A Porsche 911 is a fast sedan. A Fiat X 1/9 is a sporty car that some would accept as a sports car.
Zee216@reddit
So now a 911 is not a sports car?
Heavy_Gap_5047@reddit
Never was.
Club_Penguin_Legend_@reddit
So what is it? An economy car?
Heavy_Gap_5047@reddit
Sports coupe.
Club_Penguin_Legend_@reddit
Right.
Everybody everywhere since the 911 came about has considered it a sports car. Youre just wrong.
Heavy_Gap_5047@reddit
By what metric is it a sports car?
Club_Penguin_Legend_@reddit
Engine performance, handling, 0-60, design, engine layout, aerodynamics, its PCCB braking system, the fact that its built from the ground up as a dedicated car to go fast and handle extremely well around a track.
Besides, "sports car" is far too broad to not include the 911. The Type R is a sports car along with the Golf R or GR Corolla. Those are specifically hot hatches, but that falls under "sports car."
A supercar is just a sports car. Same with a hypercar. A sports coupe is just a more specific name for a type of sports car, but you consider it to be something different.
RunninOnMT@reddit
Ehhh, I hate using 0-60 and objective performance measurements. It’s not how fast a car is, it’s what it’s setting out to do.
If we say “sports cars are fast” we HAVE to contend with the very obvious fact that “what is fast?” Changes with the times.
A corvette was fast in the 50s. A 50s corvette is definitely not fast anymore. Are we okay with things aging out of what type of car they are? Like..it WAS a sports car but no longer because now it’s slow?
Heavy_Gap_5047@reddit
Ohhh I didn't realize this was all sarcasm.
Club_Penguin_Legend_@reddit
Good job glossing over the rest of my comment explaining why they are.
What makes them not sports cars in your eyes?
I bet your reasoning would disqualify the Skyline GTR as a sports car as well.
Heavy_Gap_5047@reddit
Wait, you're serous, you think those are sports cars?
Club_Penguin_Legend_@reddit
Answer my question first
Heavy_Gap_5047@reddit
They FWD based econoboxes, you're just trolling now.
Club_Penguin_Legend_@reddit
Im not. You just dont know how sub classes of a specific type of car works. A hot hatch is a type of sports car. Drive train has nothing to do with what makes a car sporty, or a sports car either.
Heavy_Gap_5047@reddit
So then what isn't a sports car, and why? Is a Chrysler 300 a sports car?
Club_Penguin_Legend_@reddit
No, your 300 isnt a sports car. Its a luxury sedan. Its also just far, far too heavy to be one.
That being said, im sure the SRT8 is a very enjoyable car to drive. Even lower trims as well.
Heavy_Gap_5047@reddit
What's the diffrence?
A Veyron is heavy, is a Veyron not a sports car?
Club_Penguin_Legend_@reddit
I think the difference between 300 heavy and Veyron heavy is that the 300 is built like a tank for comfort and the Veyron has 16 cylinders, 4 (i think?) turbos, and a big fuckass cooling system that I would hate to work on. So yes, still definitely a sports car.

ThisIsShullbit@reddit
Which year M3? The definition you provided is rather vague. It has to be a "maneuverable" vehicle that is "usually" a 2 seater and is "low".
How maneuverable? How low?
To me, if it designed with clear intent for track driving and performance, its a sportscar.
The M3 is a sportscar although less so recently than it has been in the past due to its increasing weight and decreasing ability to drive on the track without blowing up.
Heavy_Gap_5047@reddit

They are neither muscle nor sports cars. They are Pony cars. Long hoods, short trunks, usually with V8s, but can be had with 6s. The mustang invented the segment.
carpet_whisper@reddit
Long hood, short trunk,
You’ve largely just described a GT car.
Mustang didn’t invent it, they arguably have been around for decades prior to the Mustang.
SailingSpark@reddit
I will let AI give the full answer as it does it better than I could:
A pony car is an affordable, compact, highly styled American coupe or convertible with a sporty, performance-oriented image, designed to appeal to young drivers. Defined by a long hood and short rear deck, they originated with the 1964.5 Ford Mustang, emphasizing style, handling, and customization over raw power.
carpet_whisper@reddit
Yeah I get it, it also makes no sense.
It was a coined marketing term, like ‘Hot Hatch’ ‘Muscle Car’ ‘Gran Tourer’ and even ‘Pony Car’
Functionally speaking, the definition makes no sene.
European manufactures specifically England & Italy in the late 50s and 60s were making cheap, affordable sports cars with long hood to trunk ratios, many convertible, high stylized & appealing to the youth. With an emphasis on style & handling over raw power.
SailingSpark@reddit

I think when you’re picturing a “Muscle car” you’re thinking of a heavy “boat” with rear leaf spring suspensions. But that hasn’t been the case in over 40 years for the Mustang, Camaro, etc. The modern ones can do everything that a Miata can do but they can do it faster. Leaps and bounds faster. Properly done it should be on a lift and removing the body which would make everything easy but i did it on the ground and dropping the rearend, trans and torque tube all in one piece takes a ton of balancing. Took 2 guys a trans jack and several jacks and made platforms. The engine itself is pushed pretty far back so everythings easier to do with it pulled but can be done in vehicle its just super tight. The engine on newer years is solid. It's not turbocharged or fiddly. Post 2016 most V8 Chargers have ZF8. The same legendary transmission BMW puts in their M cars.
Chargers are a meme car, like Neon-SRT4 was back in my day. They are shitboxes. Dodge stripped everything out to give Charger buyers what they wanted more than anything: A big ass motor with a reliable drivetrain.
Most car guys hate them. Because they are designed for teenagers that want to go fast for cheap. Everything besides the drivetrain is garbage.
And that's why it's perfect for you.
Icy_Comparison_1029@reddit (OP)
I really don’t understand what you’re trying to say here
Cold_Specialist_3656@reddit
Buy a Charger. It has a big powerful motor and reliable transmission. The rest of it is as nice as golf cart
Icy_Comparison_1029@reddit (OP)
I don’t like the charger. In my opinion it has turned into a wanna-be rich/drug dealer car.
I’m not saying I am rich at all, but I don’t wanna buy a car like that. Totally okay if you’re into it, just not for me.

I rented an ecoboost mustang, do not recommend.
Icy_Comparison_1029@reddit (OP)
Why?
Ambitious_Box_96@reddit
Worst automatic transmission I've ever used, crazy throttle delay (not turbo lag I know the difference) fake engine noise, list goes on. Did it have enough power? Sure. Was it enjoyable to use that power and did you feel in control of it. Absolutely not. My 2006 accord v6, 6 speed manual is way more fun to drive then that thing was and it only has 250hp.And I paid less than 3k for itm
Icy_Comparison_1029@reddit (OP)
Interesting. I didn’t have that problem at all. I thought it was a very fun drive. I was looking at a 2025 fastback (not premium)

Nemesis_Destiny@reddit
If you're not hung up on 0-60 time, the Miata is your answer. A stock ND2 (2019+) is already in the 5 second range. Add a turbo kit, and you're there.
Demented-Alpaca@reddit
This is the answer. Stick with the ND2 or ND1 and you can turbo them. The ND3 hasn't been cracked yet.
Or go older and get any previous gen and you can get a shitload of options for them.
You ccould go with any of them and do a Honda K swap... then you're anywhere from 200HP to over 1,000HP. You can even get a naturally aspirated one that'll still give you over 400 at the wheel.
Steephill@reddit
The ND2 is worth it over the ND1. The engines have a higher redline and they fixed some issues with the ND1 transmission imploding.
Demented-Alpaca@reddit
The ND2 still had the fuckass transmission. The ND3 supposedly fixed that but you can't turbo them yet
TreesACrowd@reddit
Trans failure rates among the ND2 generation are far lower than ND1s. There were several changes made to achieve this, all of them 'band-aids' of one sort or another but for the average owner it isn't an issue. It does become more of an issue once you start looking at forced induction, since the clutch and throttle mapping were both redesigned to protect the transmission from driveline shock.
The ND3 has the exact same transmission as the 2021+ ND2, if you think one is 'fuckass' then they both are.
Hunefer1@reddit
Do they have more power in the US? In Europe, 6.5 seconds 0-100 km/h is the fastest they ever sold, and right now this model can also only be bought used.
PercentageNo3293@reddit
I drove my ex's 2017 Mazda 3, then my buddy's 2017 Miata. Same engine, I believe. The Mazda 3 was a little fun, but I had a blast in the Miata. So nimble and still quick enough to get a rush. That -500lbs was extremely noticeable.

Just buy an Ioniq 5 N and go on a murdering spree. Even many supercars will lose in a straight up drag race.
But really, there's more to a sports car than just acceleration and top speed.
omgftwbbqsauce@reddit
I was sort of in your situation, except I didn’t care so much about 0-60 and just primarily wanted something stick and that was super fun to throw around in corners, but still works as a daily driver/grocery getter. I landed on the Elantra N and it puts a smile on my face every damn day.

Hot_Sprinkles_650@reddit
ok, so a couple questions:
how experienced a driver are you? and I mean like really... in doing sports car things.
are you just talking new? because to me, budget says older forgotten models.
That said, way back in the younger years of my driving I had two cars, one after another, that followed the 'step up when you're ready' plan. amd both are way less money now than new, and can be tuned to the gills when you're ready.
car #1 Eagle Talon TSI. it was a manual, awd, turbo 4 cylinder (iirc), and that car was a BLAST!!!!! it was lightweight, so you could abuse it through corners without breaking anything, it say low, comfy bucket seats so you were down in the center of gravity, it handled great, and was quick as can be. GREAT starter sports car.
car#2 Dodge Stealth twin turbo (mitsu 3000gt) it was everything the talon was but it was MORE in every way. in an era where 300hp were the high end of stock performance, it was brutally fast and handled like it was glued down. 7200 rpm redline meant you would pull passed almost everything you were racing when they had to shift, and over 70mph, it accellerated at 10mph per second, clear up to about 160. we took it on a vacation from detroit to washington dc and averaged 60mph for the trip, including the time it was parked. over 100mph it destroyed every factory corvette on the road. they just couldnt match the pace.
so there's 2. both can be hunted for and found on a budget, and both have go-fast goodies to make them into modernly competitive brutes.
hope this perspective helps a bit, even if the specific cars arent your cup of tea.
ztcsdtx@reddit
I had an Eagle Talon AWD and a second-gen Eclipse GST. They are stupid fun. I saw a time-slip from someone who just ran a manual boost controller with a cone intake and got 12.8 in the quarter. For a 1990 4-cyl car with $300 in mods that's insane. The secret is the iron block in the 4G63. You can push the stock turbo to 20psi all day. Get the big turbo and you can get over 1,000hp.

DJScaryTerry@reddit
For new cars, Elantra N hands down. Nothing touches it for price to performance.
BruinBound22@reddit
Except the Miata, 86, Mustang, Corvette, Supra...
DJScaryTerry@reddit
Ya so not only did I say new which automatically eleminates the Corvette and supra, the Miata and 86 are not the best sports car for the money. They're great sports cars don't get me wrong, but for the price difference between them and an Elantra N, they aren't the best bang for your buck.
You can argue the mustang EcoBoost but OP has already driven one so I am giving them a different option that's very similar in straight line speed.
BruinBound22@reddit
Elantra N is really powerful and all that but it's still a FWD car. Considering it's still a 5 sec 0-60 I'd rather have a slightly slower car that handles incredibly well, like the Miata or 86.
Its fine, you can debate either in my opinion. But saying there is no debate and the Elantra N is the best price to performance across all cars is absurd.
Valuable_Mud316@reddit
Pretty sure switching the discussion to handling is just about your opinion at this point. Going for handling over power is explicitly not what OP was asking about.
The original commenter wasn't saying across all cars, the context is still him answering the question.
So like, you listing a Corvette as budget, or arguing handling over performance, it's just all over the board.
Valuable_Mud316@reddit
Supra ain't a price to performance buy lol (and now that it's dead again the price will only go up). Honestly none of those cars other than the vette beat the Elantra N in price to performance.
EmuProfessional3734@reddit
The mustangs ecoboost engine is pretty unreliable and is notoriously poor quality. Youd be better off finding a v8 in the same price range imo
Pope_Urban_the_2nd@reddit
Maybe a Lexus RC350 used
Papa_Barstow@reddit
I mean if you want to go used you are smack dab in the territory of nice S550 Mustang GT or Camaro SS. Both of those handle pretty good and have a ton of aftermarket pottential.

I had a 2019 ecoboost convertible premium and tuned it with just a Cobb tuner for 93 gas. Tuning made it come alive. Might just be a little more torque but I could feel it. I loved the car but could afford moving into a 24 gt convertible. It's obviously a beast in comparison but my insurance doubled. The eco was a practical fun car that you can customize forever.

E46 M3 if you're talking up front value. Can be had for under $20k. Run mid 4s on the 0-60. 8k RPM redline. But the real reason for buying one is the handling. The catch is that they require a good bit of maintainence that's really expensive unless you do it yourself.

Holy crap, look at the fur fly over this.
For the OP. In today's real world, if you want something that quick light to light your choices are exotics which will bleed you death trying to keep it running or electric.
I say this as a former muscle car guy. I loved the sound and feel of sports cars. But after driving electrics?... Nope. 99%of gasoline burners just cannot compete . Electic means power is smooth and immediate, they are frighteningly quick and latest generation handle like they are on rails.
