I’m a 24-year-old IT Project Manager from Germany with about 3 years of experience in managing complex IT projects.

My current salary is \~€55.000 gross per year.

My company is planning to send me on a 3 to 3.5-year internal assignment to Sydney to support a large-scale IT project (total program value is several hundred million EUR). I would be working as a sub-project manager in a team of around 30–50 people.

This will be my first international assignment, and I will receive a formal compensation/relocation package soon, which I need to evaluate and potentially negotiate.

One important note is that I plan that my partner will accompany me and also intends to work locally.

I would like to understand:

1.  What would be a realistic and fair base salary in Sydney for my profile? I thought about 125k AUD/year

2.  What kind of expat package should I expect (relocation bonus, housing support, flights, insurance, etc.)?

3.  What are typical ranges for such assignments in Australia?

4.  Any pitfalls I should watch out for when reviewing the offer?
