im getting a merchandiser job with pepsi so im going to be doing a lot of driving and im looking for any recommendations on cars that i can put quite a few miles on but still have some fun with.

Fast, cheap, reliable. pick 2 and in your case reliable needs to be one of them. Is it highway or city driving? if its highway look to a bit larger car.

Takes $15-$20k to get a $10k car now

MIATA = miata is always the answer. Definitely the most fun you can have, stupid cheap and reliable. yes its underpowered but banging gears around town makes it so much more engaging. If you need a little more space, the BRZ/GR86 twins are a good option, left fairly stock they are ok for reliability, and only a little less fun than the miata.. (miata wins for no other reason than top down motoring in the mountains will never be beat) if you need even more room, you cant beat a 8th or 9th generation civic si 4 door. (if you can deal with the 2 door, the other two on this list are more fun) but dead on reliable and with a few little mods can be almost as fun as the previous two. all 3 options can be found in fairly good shape around your budget.

Maybe like a 2012 V6 mustang? 10k for fun And Reliable isn’t an easy task anymore sadly unless you find a unicorn.
ChiefButtfumble@reddit
Can't get reliable and fun for 10k. Much less awd. You can for 20k, but barely.

wrong

My G35 has 320k miles, is fun, and has never needed a major repair (engine/transmission) in my 6 years of ownership.
Stock-Lobster-303@reddit
If you want some extra storage, the gen 1 Honda crv feels, and pretty much is just a big bodied and lifted civic. The gen 2 and on have a more rugged feel. But the gen 2 does also have a K24 instead of the B20 found in the gen 1
Active_Elk_4831@reddit
Fun, reliable, affordable. Pick 2
Inside-Plankton4737@reddit (OP)
reliable and affordable would be the most practical

Honda CRX! I recommend this car 3 - 4 times a week. Love this little car.
Complex210@reddit
How do you define fun? Like, manual, rear wheel drive, light and engaging sports car?
Inside-Plankton4737@reddit (OP)
doesn't have to be manual but something with a bit of oomph to it, AWD and under $10k preferably
fmeupfam14@reddit
Fun AWD 10k is a tall order.
G35X or G37X would be my suggestion.
If you're mechanically inclined then a N55 335ix would also be ok
Inside-Plankton4737@reddit (OP)
There is a used 2012 G37x with 137k miles for 7k near me
Complex210@reddit
Thats better than anything else we've suggested, at least for fun. Take it for a drive!
fmeupfam14@reddit
G37 is kind of hated on, but it isn't inherently a bad car if maintained and left alone. It has a really nice suspension system, double wishbone front and multilink rear. Then the VQ37 is quite reliable compared to the typical Audi/bmw drivetrain. 7 speed auto has nice spacing and a high revving V6 that still has torque.
If you find a clean stock maintained one, I think you'd be pleased. Downfall is a bit heavy for a sport sedan, but that's just the way with AWD.
Complex210@reddit
An old Subaru Impreza, Mazda3, or maybe a volvo s60? I wouldn't really consider these fun, and theyre going to have 100k miles so probably not reliable. I dont think what you want exists anymore, unfortunately.
Inside-Plankton4737@reddit (OP)
yeah i almost got a 2004 impreza but with how many miles ill probably be putting it through its probably not going to work. Im thinking the same thing might have to go with the good ol honda fit.

My friend has a Honda Civic SI that he absolutely loves to drive.
Kootsiak@reddit
They are huge too, which is what surprised me the most. They are the size of an older Accord, so they are much more easy to live with on a daily basis compared to the Civic's everyone loves from the 80's and 90's.
QuickSandwhich@reddit
Yeah, at some point civics morphed into something like an older accord.

If you can find a Toyota Celica... very reliable, easy to work on, super quick with a little oomph. I miss mine, best car I've ever owned.

Go all out and import a 2000 Honda civic SI.
Right hand drive and fun as hell.

Toyota Corolla or Camry hybrid! Instant torque is pretty fun and insane mpg. Or you can be average and get a Tesla, I can’t attest to the reliability of them though
Coyoteatemybowtie@reddit
These cars are super practical but fun is not a good descriptor of either. They are some of the most boring cars to drive, but they will last a long time. A civic si would be a much better choice.
Complex210@reddit
They said fun though.
Inside-Plankton4737@reddit (OP)
For the mpg these things get the extra penny might be worth it
