Ohh the compro dcam, it was my first webcam! Doubt you'll find drivers for any recent OS, last time I used it with... Win98?

Maybe Linux…?

Pointless unless you are able to make drivers for it, or somebody else has.
That is really the issue with a great many legacy devices.

Look, some will eventually. Why? Bc fuck it. That's how things work in the Linux world.

I meant for drivers. https://github.com/twain/twain-dsm

Likely nowhere... It's for a Compaq computer. The drivers for Compaq products are rather limited online. They were bought out by HP in the early 2000s. As a result it's hard to find drivers for anything they sold as Compaq.

Web archive has the drivers:

Well it's called the Compro Internet Digital Camera D-Cam. There's several ebay listings for it. I did a few searches for drivers, but I didn't find anything reputable nor did I find the D-Viewer software that came with it.

Looks like TWAIN compatible - *lol* haven't heard this for quiet a while :-)

plug it into a parallel port, let VLC open that port

the resolution will be so low privacy will not be a problem as any images will look like a ceefax or teletext document

It should work with generic TWAIN drivers on 98 or XP... Fun fact... Media Player Classic should be able to connect to it via 'open device' option...

Holy shit I used one of these when they were new.
