I already have a hub motor and want to add another, mid drive, motor to help with climbing.

I bought a Duotts C29 with a 750W hub motor with cadence sending and a 720Wh, 48V battery. I mostly use it for commuting, in the city but I want to use it for downhill mtb and bikepacking long distances on dirt trails, in the mountains.

I am quite satisfied with it for commuting although a bit higher top speed wouldn't hurt and I don't like how when using PAS the motor kicks in super late and when I stop pedalling it takes a couple of seconds untill it cuts off.

However I did a longer trip on it and found out the range on pavement is a little less than I would have hoped and it REALLY struggles on uphill dirt trails and when it does manage to get up them it drains the battery very quickly.

I found a really good deal on a Viribus 250W 36V mid drive motor kit with torque sensing.

I also want to get another, lighter, battery.

In my head I can combine the two and get the best of both worlds, at the expense of weight (and money). I.e. the mid drive can help in off-road applications, especially uphills while also helping with acceleration and maybe slightly top speed on daily commutes.

And when I want to do some downhill I can take the rear wheel with the motor off and ride the uphills with just the mid drive and smaller battery.

Will it work that way or are there hidden complications? Also does anyone know if that motor works with 48V batteries?
