Isn't this just a memorandum of understanding from 2003? Research and development agreement. It's just she's not granting the automatic renewal. The research consists of researching stress tolerance in metals.
When is she up for reelection? This seems like positioning. She's smart
GianfrancoZoey@reddit
It is positioning as domestically Italy have had one of the strongest cases of actual action against Israel (through the unions and dock workers)
Still though, bare minimum is more than most European countries. We have a defence deal that was signed in 2020 and the public aren't even allowed to know it entails. On a material level we've done absolutely nothing and on a political level we've done even less
Agitated-Quit-6148@reddit
Oh I personally don't care. It's all performative. I have no issue with Israel. It's just funny how all these announcements seem so serious but turn out to be nothing.
Ireland bought military drones from Israel and insisted they be battle tested. Lol
GianfrancoZoey@reddit
Well yeah cause these announcements are from governments who are wholly complicit in their support of genocide and apartheid. Ireland in particular is a good example because their government is entirely reliant on American capital
The more important thing (and most worrying for Israel going forward) is that the people of the world really really do not like Israel. Up until recently they viewed them through the lens of the propaganda but that has been stripped away over the last few years and they're now seen as the rot that they are
The only ones left supporting them are the white supremacists and freaks, and that's not enough
WestcoastAlex@reddit
well said.
israel is over
type_E@reddit
The quiet part is how to execute the "over" part, realistically
WestcoastAlex@reddit
economic and military sanctions
israel is already failing economically
type_E@reddit
Oh uh I was thinking in much more extreme terms than that
WestcoastAlex@reddit
oh. were you hoping for genocide?
FlagerantFragerant@reddit
Look at the two of you creaming your knickers at thought of millions of Jews getting killed 🫶
Not even a century since the holocaust. Y'all are gross
WestcoastAlex@reddit
ah, a German. look up the term 'psychological projection'.
FlagerantFragerant@reddit
Look up the term 'racist' and 'antisemetism'. First time I'm seeing someone openly calling for Jewish genocide while calling others projecting. 😂
WestcoastAlex@reddit
is the 'openly calling for Jewish genocide' in the room with us right now??
FlagerantFragerant@reddit
Yes, in the comment thread right above that you were actively participating! But keep it - scummy stuff like this is all the more reason to Israel stays 🫶
WestcoastAlex@reddit
so victimhood fetish it is huh
you need to learn how to read.
FlagerantFragerant@reddit
So Jews being murdered fetish it is huh
You need to learn common human decency to not openly discuss genocide on Reddit behind an anonymous account.
WestcoastAlex@reddit
i didnt and the more you bring it up the more you confirm your desperate need to be a victim.
if you actually read the convo youd see i was talking about economic and military sanctions
FlagerantFragerant@reddit
Yes you did and the more you deny it the more you confirm you lack of shame getting hard for murdering Jews
I did read the convo where you were giddy to discuss "much harsher" co sequences. And you sanction bs is also meaningless. If you'd stayed in school, you'd know not to call for murdering Jews and you'd also know how sanctions work
WestcoastAlex@reddit
i know how sanctions work.
you need to learn how to read
israel is over
FlagerantFragerant@reddit
No you don't. You've heard of sanctions being bad and think it's a valid option here. You have a cat's idea of what a television is just because it can see one in the living room 😂😂
Hama's is done for, Assad is gone, Lebanon and Israel are actively discussing course of action with hezbolla, houthis nowhere to be found, Iran has lost significant rocket, and navy abilities but sure Israel is the one is trouble. Pretty little clueless cat 🥰🥰🥰
WestcoastAlex@reddit
lol. sanctions put South African apartheid in the dumpster and it will put israeli apartheid in the dumpster too.
funny you forgot all about your red herring.. what happenned? did you go back and actually read the convo??
anyhow, the EU is currently working on cutting ties with the genocidal state and american support has cratered. american military analysts said Iran still has most of it's rocket capabilities and the israeli opposition parties are currently lambasting netanyahu for his complete failure to do anything meaningful to them
two weeks without jet fuel and the understaffed, overstretched IDF collapses
FlagerantFragerant@reddit
So much tiktok cringe, jesus 💀💀
Wow, so easy yet no one's done it. And no, the EU isn't remotely discussing any of this. And no American military analyst has said "most" in any context 😂😂
70 years and the idf is still going strong but your magic tiktok 2 weeks numbers don't add up. Oops little kitty 😂😂
WestcoastAlex@reddit
2 weeks is a netanyahu line

No, they’re not israeli.

When are you deploying to Iran? Israel needs meat
Agitated-Quit-6148@reddit
Have already done my service. 2 kid brothers active duty! By the way, congrats on the dehamasification of Gaza. Inshallah Tony Blair & Jared Kushner do well in leading the news Gaza.
Shane-8300@reddit
Nice, look forward to seeing them on r/CombatFootage

GianfrancoZoey@reddit
Ah I see you comment on r/ destiny
Says it all really!
SwolePalmer@reddit
Can confirm (live in Italy). Public opinion is fiercely pro-Palestine and the dockers have been super active in disrupting shipments/calling strikes. This is more self-preservation than humanism but I’ll take it from our fascist-adjacent Barbie, fuck it.
Dirkdeking@reddit
It still surprises me very much because Meloni was considered a far right leader, up til recently even considered as one of Trumps allies.
I would expect this from a socialist like Sanchez, or even a centrist under domestic pressure, but never ever from her...
seejur@reddit
far right means nationalistic. And when someone shots up your own troop, leave your minister stranded in Dubai under missile barrage because you starts shits with Iran without giving even a notice, shoot up the Italian boats sending humanitarian help to Gaza and so on... well, Meloni it's going to take her Nation side.
GianfrancoZoey@reddit
She's smarter than many give her credit for, and is balancing a few things here.
Italy had the largest general strike in response to Gaza, with half a million people taking part. Unlike the protests in other countries which were largely symbolic this had a material impact and was a demonstration of the working class' unity and strength that I'm sure they're very keen to avoid.
As well as this, Italian troops in UNIFIL have come under fire from Israeli soldiers. When your soldiers are being shot at by the state you are arming, the domestic political calculus becomes very uncomfortable very quickly.
To top it all off Meloni was personally named in the ICC complaint for her complicity in genocide. It's one thing taking actions on behalf of your country/government but when you're personally facing a legal case then suddenly it becomes a lot more serious
RisingDeadMan0@reddit
yeah, our secret defense deal from 2020, so was that Boris who signed that? Same sort of time he was hiding from the COBRA meetings while the country should have prepped for COVID properly.
would need to check probably around the time ater priti patel got fired from the cabinet for going on holiday to israel and having secret meetings with them there...

From the article:

flossdaily@reddit
If the West keeps abandoning Israel, someone else is going to step in. You guys want China sponsoring Israel, and yielding our Middle East foothold to them?
pham_nuwen_@reddit
Foothold? What nonsense is this? We don't need to have a foothold anywhere, what a ridiculous idea. We certainly don't need to partner with genocidal expansionist maniacs.
Every single intervention by the US just makes things worse for everyone
flossdaily@reddit
Geopolitics.
I mean, if you've paid attention to the news at all, you've seen absolute proof that our ability to influence the middle east is directly tied to oil prices, which in turn affect the entire global economy.
If we can pull those levers of power, so can anyone who comes along after and takes our place.
Don't you understand how vastly weakened we would be if Russia or China had that sort of control instead of us?
We haven't.
I think our intervention in WWII turned out pretty well for the entire free world.
BroMan001@reddit
Maybe the global economy shouldn’t be based on you being able to control a region halfway across the planet. Maybe your military should stay the fuck home and take care of your own people
flossdaily@reddit
Our military saved your entire continent.
BroMan001@reddit
The ussr did that, you helped. And your military has done nothing good since, just murdered civilians and sowed unrest
maaaaawp@reddit
You have. Just because you don't like a fact doesn't mean it isn't one
Gotta love how the only thing yall think of is fucking WW2 like its even comparable
This is laughablea
FlagerantFragerant@reddit
Get off tiktok 💀💀
pham_nuwen_@reddit
I've never used TikTok, but I have a working brain
chillichampion@reddit
Israel is a liability for the United States and Europe. Supporting it leads to loss of diplomatic credibility.
flossdaily@reddit
Weird. So all the leaders of the US and Europe must not know nearly as much about geopolitics as you do?
JKallStar@reddit
Nobody needs an israel. We already exist, trade with us if youre so desperate to project influence thousands of kilometres away, not a mythical entity. To address your China fearmongering, you can see their current actions and see that they havent created fake entities to justify being worldwide terrorists like the USA has. Believe it or not, unlike Joe Biden says, you dont need to create an israel to have good relations in the area.
flossdaily@reddit
The Jews need Israel very much. The IDF is the only thing standing between Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran; and a second Holocaust.
Trade with who? Lebanon? You guys are a failed state. Your country is dominated by a militia that doesn't even answer to your own government, but rather to Iran's.
maaaaawp@reddit
Imagine being this bitch whipped lmao
chillichampion@reddit
Lol
Xper10@reddit
The lDF is not standing between Holocaust, they are literally committing it. A Palestinian Shoah at the hands of the jewish colonists.
soalone34@reddit
China would be sane enough to tell israel to accept the Arab peace initiative and MENWFZ or some sort of actual peace and ending their expansionist and violent policies at least.
flossdaily@reddit
The Arabs and Palestinians are the ones who have walked away from peace.
WannaAskQuestions@reddit
Lol. China doesn't and won't give a shit about Israel. What's there to give a shit about? They have a better partner. It's only that US is full of stupid Christian zionists that isreal can count on and the politicians have been bought.
thatoneotherguy42@reddit
no, i want us to start firebombing their cities... day in... day out. burn as many as possible and drive the rest into the sea.
flossdaily@reddit
Those are our closest allies in the Middle East, so we're not going to be doing any of that.
thatoneotherguy42@reddit
israel is NOT americas ally. full stop
flossdaily@reddit
Just because you don't like a fact doesn't mean it stops being a fact.
Israel is not only our ally; they are one of our closest allies.
sulaymanf@reddit
"Our closest allies" that did not help in Iraq or Afghanistan or Vietnam, and acts in its own interests even if it harms US efforts. Trump has said that Israel is killing anyone in Iran who negotiates with Trump, because Netanyahu wants to continue the war and Trump did not.
maaaaawp@reddit
Only because youre fucking retarded and made all your other allies hate you
thatoneotherguy42@reddit
just because you repeat the propaganda doesn't mean it starts being factual. israel attacked our navy aka uss liberty killing 30 some odd americans in an attempted false flag operation. israel is well documented in funding (bribing) our politicians as well as other nations. israeli citizens are well documented assaulting american tourists for being there. israeli soldiers are well documented committing war crimes against any and all persons including americans. israel ran a child prostitution honeypot using epstein. israel .... the list just keeps going but i feel these basic facts illustrates the contempt they have for us as well as all who arent them. at no point in time have they aided america.... they are not our ally and never have been. in fact, looking at their actions i would call them our enemy as thats what their actions portray. unless im missing something, go on... tell me how theyre our ally. what makes them a friend to us?
Chipay@reddit
I suppose after being unable to defend the GCC, its other allies in the region, the American empire is desperate to hold onto whatever influence it can in the area.
LawNOrderNerd@reddit
I can’t help but notice that this break with Israel and her sudden willingness to criticize Donald Trump is coming on the heels of Orban’s government collapsing at the polls. She’s young (49), much younger than the likes of Orban, Netanyahu, or Trump and probably wants to keep on being the prime minister for a long time.
Trump is now directly responsible for an energy crisis in her country, Netanyahu’s Israel is deeply unpopular all across Europe. It makes sense that she’d dump them now in order to avoid getting dragged down by their unpopularity in Italy.
JeSuisKing@reddit
Except Germany for some reason.
EveryManAKaiser@reddit
with the german citizens? literally wrong but okay.
Muldrex@reddit
Girl the average german citizen is upsettingly pro-Israel even still
Thick-Duck-7022@reddit
Sis, the average German citizen is 63 years old and thinks about retiring in a few years, but doesn't talk about any of that shit online because they believe the internet is some scary trend amongst the younglings that'll hopefully go away together with the Muslim refugees.
BroMan001@reddit
That’s just proving their point
Thick-Duck-7022@reddit
Netanyahu's Germany is also really unpopular amongst Germans who aren't in the government.
BroMan001@reddit
Nice
ParagonRenegade@reddit
Wrong about everything since 1871, they want to keep the streak going.
Thick-Duck-7022@reddit
Completely braindead hate comment
ParagonRenegade@reddit
Ever hear of a joke?
The Germans haven’t either.
Level_Hour6480@reddit
Germans have had "Germany did bad things to Jews (and LGBT, leftists, and the disabled, but those don't get as much press), be better!" drilled into them for years. Israel falsely conflates itself with all Jews, and reasonable criticism of their actions as "antisemitism". German politicians are really afraid of being labeled as antisemitic.
2stepsfromglory@reddit
Well, they love being in the wrong side of history. It's a tradition at this point.
