Suggestions on holster for Beretta 96?

Recently got a Beretta 96 from a family member and I need a holster for it. This is my first sidearm and I am trying to learn what sort of holster is wise for this particular gun for concealed carry. It's not a small gun anyhow.
What should I start with here? Since this gun was used extensively in the police force, should I consider something like what they would have used?

Concealed carrying a full size steel frame pistol is either going to be difficult or plain uncomfortable.
Unless you are really big person, it gonna be difficult to conceal it.
For around a year, i concealed a 4 inch barrel, steel frame, k frame wheel gun. I could do it, it concealed great, but it was still a 40 oz revolver with a full size grip that was heavy AF, and I was carrying it with a custom-made iwb holster.
You should first get very familiar with the handgun, then you can start carrying it. And if you insist I'll concealed carrying a gun that big, don't cheap out and get a crappy holster. I personally prefer Garrett holsters, I've gotten two holsters from them and they are great.

I appreciate your input here, thank you. Honestly my next purchase was going to be a K frame revolver just because I love them but as you put, they are quite heavy.

Yes, I love revolvers. But a full size, steel frame revolver isn't the best EDC. A small j frame in a pocket using a pocket holster is much better for the wheel gun route.

It's still going to be a large footprint dimensionally

You should look for a Kydex IWB holster. Full-sized handgun carry isn't typically advised but honestly as long as you aren't a tiny person, you'll be fine. Don't start carrying until you can safely and effectively use your new gun.

Agreed, and maybe this gun is a too much for that. I am scheduling some training soon. It stays locked up for now.

You’re going to have a hard time concealing a full size duty pistol. It’s not really meant for that.

This is probably true. In the winter it won't be an issue but where I live it's hot in the summer and I can't dress heavy
