Taurus just dropped a 9mm Roller Delayed pistol. We have them available for pre-order now.
Check out our video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iKe6Bi3hwjg
JRtheDNP@reddit
These should settle around the $600-750 mark which would actually make it a viable option for an affordable roller delay if it runs.
RDUBurlyboy@reddit
$500 max. Taurus is a dog shit brand, they just happened to strike gold with the TX22
TheBlackComet@reddit
Are you familiar with ther 92 series? They are excellent, but also basically just m92s, so it isn't like they really made them. Everything else is trash though.
External_Class8544@reddit
PT92 is great but yeah Taurus is a bit hit and miss when they aren’t just copying a proven good design
SetYourGoals@reddit
This is internally just copying the MP5 it appears so might be right in their wheelhouse.
Echo_Raptor@reddit
Maybe close to the mp5 clones, it won’t be up to the HK ones though. The QC isn’t there with the clones and won’t be with Taurus like HK’s
dryice2063@reddit
Hk MP5s are overhyped. It’s an almost 70 year old design, lots of companies make good ones now.
Echo_Raptor@reddit
Nope. They’re still the gold standard of PCCs. They’re still used all over the world and the aftermarket is fantastic.
Sure, there are clones out there that are alright for range toys but you’re gambling if you get one that works or not. So many stories of people getting theirs in only to have to replace it with OEM HK parts or having welding/fouling issues.
Yeah you’ll pay a lot more for the real deal, but it’s going to run anything you feed it and the QC is leagues above the Turkish clones. And for some the money saving is fine, that’s okay too, but they’re not overhyped, people are willing to pay for them. You can’t even get them from distributors and haven’t been able to since October, HK sends their stuff in batches and they haven’t sent SP5/5k’s in awhile
dryice2063@reddit
If you have issues warranty it. Plenty of people having issues with HKs.
There are US clones.
Yes because HK doesn’t care about the civilian market.
Echo_Raptor@reddit
Very rarely will you have issues with real HKs across the board, especially with SP5’s. But nobody is going to release a perfect product 100% of the time. If you want to roll the dice and pay for a clone, that’s certainly your prerogative.
And people took a meme seriously to say HK doesn’t care about the civilian market. There are lots of things we can’t get from HK because of export/import laws. They literally brought HK USA over specifically so the civilian market could have access to more of their products in the US.
The VP9 and CC9 were made specifically for the civilian market.
TheBlackComet@reddit
I would love to know who makes a comparable PCC that has less recoil and sounds as good suppressed. Sure MP5s don't have the best stock trigger, but there is a reason they are still the gold standard.
dryice2063@reddit
I’m not saying MP5s in general, I’m saying hk MP5s in particular
TheBlackComet@reddit
Ohhh, totally. I don't get buying the actual HK ones and I own a MK23, so I am not saying they don't make great guns. Sure they are less likely to have quality issues, but it is still a sheet metal gun. The clones are the way to go unless you are a huge HK fanboy. I own 3 clones that have been awesome.
Echo_Raptor@reddit
For range toys the clones are fine. The MP5 has always been in my top 5 favorites, so I wanted the real deal.
It makes more sense to get a clone, sure, but I wanted the real thing. When it comes to other stuff, it may not matter near as much to me but personally it had always been a grail of mine so that was the route I went
dryice2063@reddit
My PTR has about 600 rounds most of that suppressed and no issues so far. We’ll see how it is after a few thousand but so far it’s been zero, even with some cheap aluminum case stuff, brass 115, brass 124 and subsonic 147
TheBlackComet@reddit
Honestly the first few hundred rounds are usually the ones that you will see issues in. I have a few thousand rounds through my Zenith K(original MKE) and other than some roller detents that were my fault, it has been great. My PTR probably only has a hundred rounds through it, but has also been great. I need to take it out as it is my only full sized. My AP5SD has been great. 147 flat nosed lawman with zero issues in ~500 rounds. That has been entirely suppressed.
dryice2063@reddit
Yeah, if I get a K model, I don’t think I’m going to suppress. I just don’t wanna mess around with locking pieces and all that and risk roller dents.
TheBlackComet@reddit
Nah, don't worry about it. It is very easy to swap the locking piece. I didn't initially, but since putting in an 80 degree, it has has been great.
dryice2063@reddit
I mean I know it’s not hard, i clean it every time I clean the gun, I just don’t wanna worry about it lol.
Echo_Raptor@reddit
They’re made on old beretta tooling, that’s why they’re still reputable
bigfatround0@reddit
Love my stainless pt92
don2171@reddit
Given the parts seem to make this a modernized reskinned mp5 I doubt it would get that low. Just watching him shoot you can see this definitely isn't a kuna or stribog and much closer to mp5
Echo_Raptor@reddit
Except this was supposed to be in the $599-650 range when announced. The mp5 design is from the 1960s, there’s nothing overly expensive with it other than HK charging it because people will pay it, they’re imported and they have high standards with the QC
don2171@reddit
The braceless ones seem like they'll get too the 600 range once the super cheap drop shipping starts
bigfatround0@reddit
The gx4 is also solid and made a huge splash when released.
Echo_Raptor@reddit
Until the gx5 comes out, then the gx4 will have had issues and the gx5 is good to go.
The g2c was great and Taurus was better, then the g3c came out and no, really, they’re good now, the g2c sucked though, and same with the gx5
Boomhauer_Jeff@reddit
Maybe $600 braced but that’s still high for a Taurus considering competitor pricing.
milkman_z@reddit
Oooof. Did not anticipate this being priced near the Kuna. Especially not above Kuna launch price.
QuasisteIlar@reddit
FYI the braceless version is $799. If reviews are even on par with the Kuna I bet the cheaper version sells like hotcakes
ALSO:
These have a roller delay system that copies the MP5 that was confirmed on a video I just watched because I was very curious. Kuna and Stribog are "roller delayed at home" with a single roller on essentially a slightly lighter weight typical 9mm bolt. I'm betting these shoot as well or better than a Kuna/Stribog (k-version), but probably not quite as well as an MP5k (mostly due to just being lighter).
And the FCU is the serialized part and takes AR FCGs. I bet these are easier to FRT (won't need a different lower, I bet).
Only negative (from a spec sheet perspective) I can personally find here is they take proprietary mags when Scorpion mags are *right there*.
BENFLANKLN@reddit
Could be wrong, but I think Kuna with the brace is now $1200. Curious how the roller delay is in the Taurus, but from the video it looks like a lot of plastic. If it can take AR triggers, that would be awesome too!
Mahlegos@reddit
Kunas a lot of plastic too. This is supposed to have a better roller design more similar to the mp5. Interesting.
Icy_Tiger_2294@reddit
Change the lower of the kuna to the nexus lower and it’s all metal
Mahlegos@reddit
Ah, slap a $400 lower on and it’s all good.
The upper of this is metal too as far as I’ve seen, so same same with the kuna unless I’m missing something.
Icy_Tiger_2294@reddit
Yes the kuna upper is metal. I bought a metal paddle mag release for the kuna from HB industries just because lol
Mahlegos@reddit
I get it, I’m just responding to the person saying this “looks like a lot of plastic” by pointing out it’s actually a pretty standard amount by comparing it to the kuna (or even an mp5 which also has a polymer lower).
Echo_Raptor@reddit
I think they were saying it looked cheap, Taurus’ polymer does look like cheap plastic to be fair
Icy_Tiger_2294@reddit
Yeah I am not a big fan of all the markings on the side of this new PCC because it’s like they want everybody to know it’s a Taurus
Mahlegos@reddit
They edited the “(cheap looking)” into their comment after I replied because their initial reply just complaining about “a lot of plastic” doesn’t make much sense when all the PCCs this compares too have a similar amount of plastic.
Echo_Raptor@reddit
Ah ok fair enough
Icy_Tiger_2294@reddit
Agreed
GreatTea3@reddit
The plastic piece the stock/brace mounts to as well.
Icy_Tiger_2294@reddit
That’s why I bought a HB industries metal back plate!!!!!
GreatTea3@reddit
Yea, same. Seemed like it might get wobbly, given time. The HB is rock solid.
Icy_Tiger_2294@reddit
What’s wobbly? It’s the little things that count because HS product or however you spell it tried to save money by putting a cheap polymer back plate but having that metal reinforcement matters when you have the bolt constantly slamming into it and they don’t even have like a buffer that you would see that the MP5. I figure after a couple thousand rounds that polymer back plate would get really chewed up
GreatTea3@reddit
There’s a buffer on the end of the recoil spring. I just didn’t want to egg out the pin hole in that plastic back piece and have the brace moving around.
Icy_Tiger_2294@reddit

Echo_Raptor@reddit
If it’s a Taurus it’s going to be a lot of cheap looking plastic, that’s just what their polymer looks like in general
FatherOblivion63@reddit
Bought a Kuna from my go-to LGS for $1049 in January.
redacted_robot@reddit
The fcu and ar triggers is the best news I'm seeing here. Hopefully the mags are cheap.
H4RN4SS@reddit
~$30-35 mags from what I watched in a review
QuasisteIlar@reddit
A serialized AR fcg could be a game changer for the aftermarket, and not just for this particular PCC.
redacted_robot@reddit
Serialized tunable FRT. That way when the government bans frt production the existing serialized ones get grandfathered in like the lightening links and sears did in 86.
DieselNGin556@reddit
I got a feeling that the post 2028 gov is going to use frts as justification to ban all popular semi-autos because now they are "easily convertible to full auto".
And given trumps reaction to the Las Vegas shooting ( I like take the guns first, then due process second." along with the bump stock ban) it might not take until 2028 for the gun grabbing to start.
redacted_robot@reddit
As soon as some big media covered crimes start happening with FRT's I'm sure they'll start writing a law redefining FRT as full auto covered by nfa/gca
albundy25@reddit
A video o sae said 38 bucks
boostedb1mmer@reddit
Am I missing something because a Kuna is $300 more than this. Which percentage wise, is nowhere near $900.
Echo_Raptor@reddit
The kuna did have a price increase but any dealer charging $1299 is marking them up. Cost to dealers only went up like $125. One LGS near me had them at $1299 when they dropped and the other at $999, both braced
But one also marked everything up higher in general
hellowiththepudding@reddit
Why would anyone buy this over a Mac 5 for $100 more? Taurus is nuts.
QuasisteIlar@reddit
Modern ergos, AR trigger, LRBHO, lighter weight, etc.
Listen, I'm not saying don't buy a MAC-5 (I own one myself), but they're pretty different.
hellowiththepudding@reddit
Counter point - HK slap.
Fair points though, I’d just rather have the iconic classic roller delay subgun over Taurus.
The LRBHO is what i miss most from those.
QuasisteIlar@reddit
Oh don't get me wrong, if I could only have one, it'd be an MP5 clone. I'd choose that over *any* of the $1000-ish PCCs on the market if I was only getting one. In fact, I did, at the time.
I just see a lot of typical Reddit upvote-bait type responses for "lulz $1000 Taurus" without actually looking into what it's offering for the money compared to the competition.
Could it suck? Sure! And let's be super real honest with everyone here: often the first gen of most firearms has issues. Everyone is saying "just buy a Kuna" when a year ago everyone was saying "wtf don't buy kuna their mags break buy a Stribog". Or "just buy a $400 lower to adapt your Kuna or Stribog to Scorpion mags instead of buying this!" I mean come on lol are we talking about price or not?
Full disclosure: I just put a preorder in for the braceless version of this, so we shall see, lol! I'm a 3D printing type of guy though, so that AR FCG FCU has me suuuuuuuper intrigued.
Strange_Tamers69@reddit
Its a huge missed opportunity for Taurus I think.
JOEYballsGOTTI@reddit
Doubly so if these are proprietary mags
Squeeze_Toy2004@reddit
They are.
SetYourGoals@reddit
That is a fucking crazy decision. Not going with Scorpion or Kuna mags is so dumb.
Squeeze_Toy2004@reddit
Hell, even Glock mags. Anything but proprietary.
shringing277@reddit
Or even GX4 mags!
kickzNblickz@reddit
Yeah I would try one out…but it would have to be about half the price it is currently. $500-$600 max for a Taurus PCC
WhiskeyHotel7@reddit
Why must PCCs be so over priced. Let alone one with proprietary magazines.
All hail the extar EP9
iFightForOurRights@reddit
A $1,000 Taurus?
Has their quality increased enough to spend that kind of money on a Taurus?
FadingFX@reddit
Depends on if it’s made in the USA or not. Still don’t know if I’d pay them that either way
Echo_Raptor@reddit
It is
FadingFX@reddit
In which case it’s probably decent
7ddlysuns@reddit
Probably we’re going to be cheaper but there are absurd tariffs on stuff from Brazil because someone got his feelings hurt
Echo_Raptor@reddit
These are made in Georgia
CADnCoding@reddit
To be fair, their TX22 is sick. Arguably the best 22LR pistol out right now. The QC is very Taurus level though, some great, some are turds.
But yea, for $1000, just get an AP5 or kuna or even stribog A3.
Echo_Raptor@reddit
Tx22’s are cheap though, and most of the competition is umarex stuff that feels like a toy.
If Springfield/smith/sig/glock all had 22 plinkers in the same price range with solid track records nobody would buy a tx22 over them either (assuming they had FRTs)
MayorWestt@reddit
I had to polish the feed ramp to get my tx22 to feed reliably. It runs great now but was not reliable out of the box
notguiltyaf@reddit
I never got my SP9A3 to run hollow points reliably.
tsarcasm@reddit
I had to swap to a scorp lower to get mine to and then the upper still started to beat itself to death. I hated that fucking gun good riddance
ArmedOne78@reddit
I have an SP9A3S that runs hollow points fine. I am using the newer non translucent black mags. I did have to buy UMP mags for my SP45A3. The factory mags for it are horrible. Maybe it's your mags, not sure.
notguiltyaf@reddit
The curved mags didn't save it for me.
IudexJudy@reddit
I had to warrantee my M&P BG2.0 for the same reason so anecdotal evidence isn’t everything
MayorWestt@reddit
Google tx22 feeding issues, its not just me
Strange_Tamers69@reddit
Were you using round nose lead? Unjacketed
MayorWestt@reddit
I tried thunderbolts, wildcats, and cci mini mags. Constant feeding problems, it was basically unusable. Took me 5 minutes to fix with a dremmel but honestly is a known issue and taurus should have done something about it
SpoonEngineT66Turbo@reddit
They can't even fucking make working magazines. 3 Brand new 15 round mags and 3 brand new 22 round mags and they jam the gun like every 5 rounds. The original mags that came with the gun? Perfectly fine but the new ones are unusable.
Brotherauron@reddit
No Scorpion consideration?
300_Brownout@reddit
Scorp is direct blowback.
All options listed are delayed blowback. Better suppressed
Echo_Raptor@reddit
I mean even if it was, would you buy it over a kuna, scorpion, mp5 clone or stribog at similar prices?
You’ve got a lot of $1000ish options out there until you get into the high end market
knoxknifebroker@reddit
Yea no way lol. Get a Response or Extar or Jawbone
shringing277@reddit
I’d honestly skip on a Jawbone, the Extar is so much bettwr
knoxknifebroker@reddit
Of for real? Tbh I only own a Response cause I got it for the price of an Extar lol
TazBaz@reddit
It’s got a lot of selling points on paper (though I certainly prefer a barrel that’s longer than a standard pistol… I know some prefer the ultra-compact).
The question is mostly of quality/QC.
SEE Quasistellar’s comment higher up for some “on paper” perks.
Cobra__Commander@reddit
You're a fool to risk it with all the high quality options in the same price tier.
MaverickTopGun@reddit
It depends, do you actually know anything about guns or are you a pathological contrarian? If the latter, buy this immediately.
10Thousand_Hours@reddit
Fuck no
Unhappy_Yoghurt_4022@reddit
For that money, I think I’ll look at a Kuna or AP5
Berry_Micockiner@reddit
Don’t forget the Stribog A3 model
SamBaxter420@reddit
I have the A3G and absolutely love it. I can’t wait to get my hands on the Kuna once the availability is there
Echo_Raptor@reddit
If you’ve got an a3g you’re going to be disappointed in a Kuna. They’re about 95% the same
SamBaxter420@reddit
I am not expecting anything different, per se. I just like suppressed 9mm PCCs.
Echo_Raptor@reddit
I’d go with an ap5 over a kuna if you don’t have one, at least it’ll feel different, and a much flatter experience when shooting as well. The kuna is jumpy
hallmonitor53@reddit
Everyone forgets about the bog 😭
7ddlysuns@reddit
The bog is so good
Automatic_Market7422@reddit
Kuna has plastic picatinny that snaps off.
You want stribog
Jason1435@reddit
We need a definitive tier list for how actually GOOD the roller reduction is. Kuna being at the bottom and MP5 at the top. So people actually know if it's good roller delay or half assed roller delay.
Mahlegos@reddit
From all the videos, this looks very very similar to an MP5 style roller delay. Uses very similar if not the same locking pieces with dual rollers.
Jason1435@reddit
Exactly, but the polymer body or just slight difference in design makes it look like it bucks almost as badly as a kuna
Echo_Raptor@reddit
The kuna sure does buck for a pcc. It’s not unusable by any means but the guntubers saying how smooth it was were definitely sus
Mahlegos@reddit
Hard to say when you don’t see them shooting them side by side (or at least I haven’t in all the videos I’ve seen on this today). But it very well could be down to weight. The MP5 is a heavy bitch compared to most modern PCCs.
Just_Blackberry_8918@reddit
This or? An mpx or?
What 9mm smg should I buy
Echo_Raptor@reddit
The MPX is in the high end of PCCs, it and the sp5 are the best ones on the market.
If you can swing an MPX you’d be crazy to not look into that range of options
PecanPaul@reddit
I’ll let the guntubers beta test this lol. Too many good options around $1k to get a Taurus unless this is dumb reliable
Echo_Raptor@reddit
The guntubers are the ones I’d trust the least on this. The cheaper quality stuff gets fawned on all the time when they get free stuff and kickbacks from them.
Squeeze_Toy2004@reddit
What the actual fuck is this timeline?
Echo_Raptor@reddit
Guns are still pretty cheap and go on sale regularly.
Remember that Taurus charged $700 for what’s basically a long barrel judge
BrambleVale3@reddit
I’m going to go against the grain and say if this is easy to drop an FRT into people are going to be fighting to get these things, especially once they are going for not preorder pricing.
If these settle around 700-800 and are reliable, they are going to sell. If someone makes a simple drop in FRT they are going to be unobtainable.
DugnutttBobson@reddit
Think Taurus noticed the rush on tx-22s? Would be cool to see a manufacturer embrace FRTs
Echo_Raptor@reddit
Given you could get tx22’s everywhere for a little of nothing then you couldn’t even order them from distribution because they kept selling out? Yeah they noticed
Echo_Raptor@reddit
Dealer cost is close to $700 and the kuna is still hard to come by. It’ll be awhile
QuasisteIlar@reddit
I'm in on that bet as well. The braceless version at $799 I think--if it's even just decent--will sell like hotcakes. Kunas have jumped in price and this undercuts it by 20% with a theoretically superior roller delay (similar to MP5).
TazBaz@reddit
Multiple theoretically better things than a Kuna with the serialized FCG and AR lower design. Big downside in the proprietary mags though. Feels like a move to try and get extra post-sale revenue.
CrunkleRoss@reddit
Back when magazines were only available from the gun manufacturer post-sale revenue made sense now that we have choices for just about everything I think the competition at least leveled out the pricing.
QuasisteIlar@reddit
Yeah, I do wonder about that. Looks like the RPC at least comes with two of the mags in the box to soften the blow.
Who knows--maybe these mags will be great? Either way, I suspect we'll get other lowers. Plus I bet the 3D printing community could come up with some really awesome stuff for this.
CrownSeven@reddit
Theyve started coming back down but if anything this should force the price down even further.
MDStroup@reddit
Damn, y'all are weird. I don't think anyone saw the videos on this with all the comments they are giving.
It is a TRUE roller delay PCC with quick change barrels(and handguard with a single pin) that takes AR triggers, safeties(FRT anyone?) and grips as well as BOLT HOLD OPEN with a nonreciprocating charging handle. An not roller delayed like the Kuna and Stribog with that single roller on top, but true MP5 rollers and MP5 locking pieces. it got rid of the biggest weakness of the MP5, the extractor wire. It has a normal extractor.
PLUS! The upper and lower aren't the gun. It is the chassis in the lower. So scorpion mag lower should be really easy. Or any magazine lower. You could 3d print one easy. If this doesn't need a trip to run a SS, this will be hands down the hottest PCC on the market.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xt_1_fDhSmU
DiscoMagicJesus@reddit
My initial reaction is also to shit on it, but yeah after seeing all these features in several videos I think this thing absolutely has bones. Catching one on sale for like \~$700 and throwing a reasonably priced (please?) aftermarket lower on it might make this fuck extremely hard.
You know, provided it doesn't explode or try to eat my brass sideways.
MDStroup@reddit
Right! I am focusing on some select things because I am in Virginia and the band coming. I already bought a AP5 LT a few months back. But I will definitely pick one of these up. I have a CAD and industrial 3d printing background. The second I get one I will be designing a lower for CZ and colt mags.
I hope the aftermarket explodes so we can get longer barrels and handguards.
DiscoMagicJesus@reddit
Hell yeah to all of that.
Personally I think the 4.5" barrel is enough for the widest range of loads to stay subsonic, and to keep the whole package discreet, which is imo one of the bigger draws to this type of platform.
MDStroup@reddit
Honestly, I love the idea of a super short PCC to be able to stick in a bag, but most of them have way to short of a handguard, especially a MP5K. An I really want to be able to put some stuff on it if i get into NVGs. I really love the removable handguard for that reason alone. But i don't work on a farm anymore. So i don't foresee the need to carry a rifle around any time soon.
DiscoMagicJesus@reddit
I'm too poor for those problems lol. A fingerstop and light are all I need. But the removable handguard and swappable barrel does open things up for NVG in the future.
I'd love to see an aftermarket handguard that's sized to go over the suppressor so one could keep the short barrel for optimal suppression, but also gain some extra M-LOK slots and top rail space for a laser. Something like an IRIS-3 wouldn't need a lot of space though, which would be perfect on this.
MDStroup@reddit
Night vision has gotten more expensive because it blew up over COVID as people were spending their checks on PVS14s, but you used to be able to get a gen3 PVS14 for $1500 to $1800. An that is a lot, but most people have so many AR15's that if they didn't spend that money on the guns, they could have an entire NVG set up. I definitely want to get a white phosphorus gen 3 PVS14 some day. Won't be soon, but I will get it some day.
Dots with half way descent night vision aiming are getting cheaper and the laser if you use one is getting cheaper every day.
DiscoMagicJesus@reddit
Oh it's definitely in my future lol. Most of my guns I've bought/built with NVG/thermal in mind so I can just add lasers and be good to go once I can justify the purchase. There's just lots of other more "practical" things I'm focused on first before I get there: a good semi-auto shotgun, a nice bolt action, a couple .22's, a few more flavors of 9mm, etc. Getting there slowly, just trying to not get overwhelmed with the rest of life's expenses along the way.
MDStroup@reddit
Well I hope you can reach your goals. I get it how everything sucks right now, but you will make it through it.
Mahlegos@reddit
This is what I’m saying, if (and maybe it’s a big IF being a Taurus) this thing proves to be reliable, it’s actually a crazy step forward in the pcc game imo. On paper it’s hitting all the things people want that other options seem to fall short of in one way or another, and adds some cool shit on top like the modular barrels and what looks to be an AR style FCU.
Time will tell, but people aren’t really giving this thing a fair shake.
MDStroup@reddit
I plan to get one so I can start designing a lower for it. But I might wait as I am trying to get a few pistols right now.
Mahlegos@reddit
I’m definitely waiting for reviews, and in the mean time prices might settle a little lower (or they might go up with demand lol).
grivooga@reddit
If they're smart they'll make it easily take an FRT and they'll sell well even if they're turds. I want to like it and I already have an AP5. I want to get one more fun gun with cheap ammo before VA goes to shit and waits for injunction relief. This would be a strong contender at a lower price or if it took a more common mag. But it doesn't. Currently leaning towards a Bog45 because none my 9mm PCCs are particularly great with subsonics.
Mahlegos@reddit
Your ap5 has problems with subs?
grivooga@reddit
I don't have a high enough round count to really draw decisive conclusions. Since fixing an issue with the bolt jamming rearward I've had several fail to feeds with hollow points and flat nose fmjs, about every other mag. Seems like it's always the second or third round from a full mag, nose up After clearing it works fine for the rest of that mag.
When it was brand new I had several malfunctions per magazine with all ammo types until I found that the end cap was pinching the receiver causing the bolt to jam rearward. Fixed that by sanding the inside of the end cap until I was able to slide it easily onto the receiver.
Mahlegos@reddit
People recommend HK mags for flat nose and JHP. I’ve had good luck with freedom munitions HUSH round nose.
Staas@reddit
u/SportsmansOSS Do y'all have a rough ETA on when these might start shipping?
SportsmansOSS@reddit (OP)
My understanding is they are now shipping. I honestly can’t tell you when ours will show up, but we had an order placed before launch.
ZeroCool929@reddit
Man... I've been looking forward to this release since this was first shown on some foreign gun show maybe 2 years ago? People werent even sure of the specs (there was back and forth on if it was or wasnt roller delayed) but there were rumors of a sub $600 price point, which made it VERY interesting.
At nearly $1k, this just ain't it. And that's coming from a Taurus fan (LOVE my GX4, G3 full size and TS9).
YuckFouTo@reddit
No thank you. Kuna over this all day.
Vegetable_Coat8416@reddit
The Kuna is "roller delayed." This appears to be roller delayed following the MP5 pattern. HK style bolt head, rollers, and interchangeable locking pieces (tunable).
Manufacturer aside, this is what I was hoping the Kuna would be before the underwhelming Kuna internal reveal.
BeneficialFreedom414@reddit
It seems like the unbraced version is gonna hit the street at $799. you can get a 40cal kuna for $700 on gun deals dot com here and there. scorpion lower and mags you're in less than the braced RPC
possibly_lost45@reddit
This is stribog and Kuna money. Taurus can kick rocks

So what’s Taurus’ warrantee like?
YackReacher@reddit
Its probably from the same makers of the matador 9.
Unicron-DeathStar@reddit
I wish I knew about this before I put a Kuna on Layaway a few months ago 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
Fancy_Exchange_9821@reddit
lmao ill never understand why PCC’s are so overpriced
total niche imo. a suppressed MK18 is infinitely better and if your case is home defense your better off just using a nightstand pistol 😅
Mahlegos@reddit
They’re priced higher because they’re (somewhat) niche, and these, mp5 clones, and stuff like the kuna or Stribog are slightly more complex (and premium) with their roller delay. AR15s have gotten so cheap because they’re ubiquitous and the parts are broadly interchangeable as they’re a singular design while PCCs have multiple designs with a lot proprietary (to the platform) parts which means a much smaller economy of scale vs the AR.
And while a 5.56 SBR is better ballistically, PCCs have advantages in suppression (both ease as they generally have less need for tuning, as well as in actual sound reduction), are (much) cheaper to shoot, and softer recoiling for people who might be sensitive to that. You can also run a set up where they take the same mags as your pistol if that’s your thing. As for HD, I don’t think most people would agree that a pistol is better for much outside of carrying or concealing.
albundy25@reddit
Because to alot of people its a range toy and 9mm is half as much as 223
Eastern-Ask5444@reddit
Will this be classified as a pistol or rifle?
sarge5150@reddit
Was really hoping this would be around 700-800max
CrunkleRoss@reddit
Me too but considering the real roller locked action and other features you just can't compare it to a straight blow back gun.
Mahlegos@reddit
Be patient past these preorders and it might settle closer to that.
terraNautical22@reddit
So if it was the Taurus versus the Kuna, or Stribog, I'd probably go with the SP9A3S, just for the shorter barrel. But it's still a bit longer than I'd like. The APC9K has the barrel length I really want, but with B&T's internal issues, I won't hold my breath
Extra-Minute-6712@reddit
That barrel is longer this one is 4.5 in
terraNautical22@reddit
I know, but as of right now the SP9A3S is available in FDE.
GuysLeeFanboy@reddit
Kuna at home?
Mahlegos@reddit
I mean, this thing is potentially better than a kuna in a couple ways. Biggest one being that the dual roller design is basically a copy of the mp5 vs the kuna (and bog) that has basically just slapped a single roller onto a heavy blowback bolt and called it a day. Second, the modular swappable barrel, which would let you have a k and full size (and whatever else) setup in one gun. The FCU is also interesting. Seems to be AR styled and could open the door to some cool stuff outside of this gun. It also opens the possibility that this thing taking like scorpion mags or whatever could just be a printed lower chassis away.
I get the skepticism and memeing on Taurus, and I damn sure won’t be an early adopter and will wait and see how it goes. But if this thing ends up being reliable, it could actually be really and hit the hallmarks in the pcc market that all the options out now seem to fall short of in one way or another - and I say that as an AP5 owner.
Caveman775@reddit
MSRP was supposed to be $600. Maybe when they switched from blowback to RDB they increased the MSRP?
Very_bleh@reddit
I thought these were going to be around $600
purgatorialhoss@reddit
899.99 plus whatever on Vance Outdoors. If you trust them, for the braced model.
crabcakemeister@reddit
A taurus kuna? They missed such a wild opportunity to call it the Tuna
Also, nobody who can afford a $950 toy is going to care about saving $150 by not buying the $1100 kuna
purgatorialhoss@reddit
Big Tuna
Dung_Beetle_2LT@reddit
This is like paying Glock prices for a hipoint.
BootlegBabyJsus@reddit
I'd take a spin for $550 but not for Kuna pricing.
AccomplishedFan8690@reddit
Not today ATF.
PooDoo92@reddit
I would trust Keltec, HiPoint, or even GForce to make a decent pcc, but never in my life would I consider a Taurus, especially at Stribog prices!
External_Class8544@reddit
Why would anyone buy this over an AP5?
CrunkleRoss@reddit
It's lighter, has quick change barrels, quick change rollers, AR15 trigger, serial number FCU, last round lock back, better ergos, and it should be easier and cheaper to FRT. I love the MP5 and have a lot of trigger time on them but judging from the video the recoil impulse looks about the same as the heavier MP5, if this is as good as it seems it's a better choice unless you just have to have a MP5.
Bortjort@reddit
People talking about this price and I'm just sitting over here whistling with my 1k blowback PSA AK-V (no regrets I love it)
dae_giovanni@reddit
is it home here now?
LVCSSlacker@reddit
I hope Pew pew tactical does a comparison between this and the kuna
f0rcedinducti0n@reddit
Ump vibes
10Thousand_Hours@reddit
Temu UMP
Mahlegos@reddit
Roller delayed though
f0rcedinducti0n@reddit
Is ump not? Is it simple blowback?
Mahlegos@reddit
Correct, the made the ump to replace the mp5 but it was blowback which is why the mp5 ended up hanging on for so long.
f0rcedinducti0n@reddit
Just give me a 10mm ump and I'll die happy.
f0rcedinducti0n@reddit
ump is so slick, though
hurtfulproduct@reddit
Bwhahaha, $1k after taxes and fees for a fucking Taurus!? Does it come with a free handy-J ?
NotAurelStein@reddit
For that price, I'd rather get a Stribog or Kuna. If Taurus really wanted to compete, they wouldve dropped this at the 650-750 range.
Battle_Intense@reddit
Id expect that price in 6 months.
NotAurelStein@reddit
I'd absolutely buy one at 650. Ive been wanting to get a stribog though.
milkman_z@reddit
G4gguns has sp9a3 (no brace) at $900
NotAurelStein@reddit
Yep! Great guns.
elmariachio@reddit
I got a scorpion for that much a while ago
TheBaconThief@reddit
Sure, but no roller delay on the Scorpion. And not sure if you had a brace for that price.
I don’t want to beta test for reliability for this price or even $750. But for an option that has an AR fcg, likely easy frt integration and a purported more detailed roller delay system than the Kuna or my Stribog, there does seem to be potential here.
elmariachio@reddit
Brace was on sale for a low amount and I even got it SBR'd for free when the ATF let some pcc's in due to potential changes in brace laws.
I get the AR fcg gives a lot of options, but I prefer the scorpion's ergonomics.
No roller delay but you can get delayed blow back and all that.
My guess is that the price is high for the Taurus because it's just coming out. I think they'll get the price down closer to 700 because that seems like the sweet spot to take a chance.
NotAurelStein@reddit
I wont ever buy a scorpion. The two ive shot have both had repeated OOB problems. No thanks.
TazBaz@reddit
I’ve only ever shot mine, and I don’t have a ton of rounds through it but an easy 3-400 so far. Zero issues, eats everything, accurate, shoots fine suppressed or not (almost no PoI change too, although at 25-50yds it’s hardly noticable anyway)
If I was buying now and could still buy, I’d go for an AP5 or a Kuna, but my Skorp has been a workhorse and the gun most people want to shoot on range days.
Wouldn’t surprise me if both those skorp’s had Binaries at some point. That was always a big issue- they weren’t designed for that.
NotAurelStein@reddit
Neither of the ones i shot had ever touch an FRT, the owners couldnt afford the ammo for that anyway lol. Glad to hear yours works though!
brando29999@reddit
Ok but like ap5 is the like same price right
Mahlegos@reddit
Ap5 is like $1200-1300
brando29999@reddit
Oh mb I just thought they were similar but at the same time 300 extra for an mp5 clone or a Taurus lol no brainer to me
Mahlegos@reddit
I have an AP5, but I’m cautiously optimistic on these honestly. Not enough to be an early adopter but this could be cool if it’s more tx22 and less everything else Taurus makes.
Daniel_Day_Hubris@reddit
Didn't I just see a KUNA posted here for like $649 w/o a brace? Why does taurus think they get to charge springfield prices? Y'all gave them a big head with those damn tx22's lol.
Astromander@reddit
I’m finally ready to pick up a Kuna now that the aftermarket support has matured, but I feel like this would be even better if I could get a 3rd party lower that takes scorpion mags and supports an FRT.
CrunkleRoss@reddit
From the pics I've seen, haven't seen in person yet, it looks a lot like an AR trigger and since it's a FCU system shouldn't be a problem to FRT or print a lower. The big problem for now is finding one that's not being price gouged.
mb4_epn187@reddit
PSA should take notes.
Snoo_18581@reddit
Just buy an sp5?
RumpusTime89@reddit
When will it be available to buy?
you_killed_my_@reddit
Proprietary mags make it more DOA than the price
ohsofancy@reddit
Off topic but I’ve only ever bought one pcc and that’s been the mpx. Never had to look at another one cuz nothing shot close to it. This Taurus is already half the price of that so idk if it’s worth it
milkman_z@reddit
Just stick with the mpx? $1000pcc market is for people who don't have mpx money. It's me, I'm people 😭
jcornroae@reddit
Looks like they might have a separate hand guard piece that may allow for a longer one later if you want. Kinda interesting. Haven't had the best experience with Taurus, but my Tx-22 is OK. I think Ill stick with my Kuna which is a tank.
sporknitebattlepass@reddit
900 dollars for taurus is crazy
IntrospectiveApe@reddit
The only way I would ever consider paying this much would be if it came with a free TX22 or two.
Dr_Jabroski@reddit
With frts pre installed
YuckFouTo@reddit
Tx22 frt takes 5 minutes to install!
TheBoogBear@reddit
Didn't the Brazilians start buying the Kuna? I bet this is Taurus' "oh hell naw" response.
cannabination@reddit
What were they thinking? At that price they need to handily beat the Kuna at everything or they will just gather dust.
don2171@reddit
Taurus usually sells a good 25% below MSRP and sometimes lower so unless the MSRP is much higher than this price won't be an issue soon
DUCK_FACE_JONES@reddit
frt or what
FarmerLurtz@reddit
They missed the easiest mag design possible. Why not scorpion mags. Why proprietary? Scorpion mags are very good. I had a little interest but now, not much.
mcnastytk@reddit
Uh you can get a mp5 clone for that much
Wtf is taurus thinking.
This might be as dumb as the sabre 2011 costing more than a bul armory and same as staccato.
Also just saying "roller delayed" doesnt mean anything there's plenty of roller delayed guns none of them shoot like an mp5
Its about the engineering involved.
Mahlegos@reddit
To be fair, mp5 clones are around 300 more now that the AP5 LT isn’t an option. Also to be fair, the current info out is that this roller system is more similar to the mp5 (uses dual rollers) than the kuna or Stribog or Kuna (use a single roller on a heavy bolt). Also supposedly they plan to release a swappable longer 8” barrel.
I get some of the skepticism, but this is trying to directly compete with the kuna and Stribog so they’re pricing it as such and seems to have some interesting features (in addition to the dual rollers and swappable barrel, others have mentioned AR triggers and an FCU). And there’s a possibility it drops slightly once they aren’t on preorder.
Obviously I wouldn’t be an early adopter, but that goes for any manufacturer. But if these things are reliable and the specs we’re hearing now are all accurate, it’s actually pretty interesting.
mcnastytk@reddit
I think you can get a mac5 for sub 1000 but yea the internals def look way better than stribog or kuna.
Let's see if its reliable after thousands of rounds.
RangerNo5619@reddit
This should not be that expensive.
slasher0739@reddit

Good for Taurus but where deal?
Boomhauer_Jeff@reddit
The “deal” is that this seller would like to sell them to you. That’s it.
GrouchTheMongolian@reddit
buy now. deal later. ug ug ug

A $1k Taurus when you could get a Kuna, Stribog, or AP5? Nah.

That thing better shoot flat as hell for that price, especially in the crowded market, especially seeing that it’s still Taurus.
Puzzleheaded_Fix3135@reddit
I’m hoping these are good a rooting for Taurus that this is a hit like the tx22. However, I will not be buying one at this price unless it gets amazing reviews for a year.

Taurus is out of their minds with this pricing
DoughnutSnake@reddit
Price is a bit high, but its still the cheapest PCC in its class and this is just launch price so expect it to drop 100-200. Also I feel like the Taurus hate is a bit much, after all the TX22 went up in price because it became so popular.
jrhooo@reddit
Eww
Wunktacular@reddit
For $900 you could have a PSA AR, a super safety, a dozen magazines, a red dot, and around 500 rounds of ammo.
Where is the value proposition?
Suspicious_Hope_841@reddit
With decent MP5 clones being near this price range, and this being a Taurus. Fuuuuck no. Maybe if they dropped it down to $600, possibly.

I think Taurus has absolutely reined it in recently. QC seems better Customer service was great for me when I had a slight delivery issue with my 605 that they corrected immediately with next day shipping.
That being said….this thing is kind of ugly and really expensive but looks fun. Now offer me integral suppression on a longer barrel for around that same price maybe a touch more as Taurus should be doing and they wouldn’t be able to keep these things in stock.
Prior-Champion65@reddit
Customer service took two months for me. They did make it right, and I believe they were moving sites but 2 months…
Justthetippliz@reddit
I’d bite if it came with FRT kit, suppressor and 1k rounds ammo all for under $1k

Kuna from Brazil lol

If this took Scorpion mags out of the box that would be a nice upgrade over Kuna, cuz with the Kuna you have to spend almost 400 to upgrade the lower. As it stands though seems like you might as well go with springfield..
PretendIndependent6@reddit
Fuck Taurus. I would not buy this shit until it is well and tested by the masses you do not want to have to send you piece of shit Taurus in to get fixed because their customer service is hot garbage
