So, a private NGO founded and run by an Indian pilot comes out with "new evidence" clearing another Indian pilot. Hmmm...

How accurate are the CCTV timestamps and what offset were they to the rest of the logs from the CDR etc.
A second or so difference can be explained by clock drift. When was the last NTP sync and how much does the system drift on average?
08:08:39.5 – RAT deployment triggers. 08:08:41 – CCTV image captures aircraft taking off with RAT deployed.
08:08:42 – both fuel cutoff switches transitioned to CUTOFF, one second apart. 08:08:47 RAT hydraulic pump begins supplying power (AAIB data). 08:08:52 – Engine 1 fuel switch moved back to RUN. 08:08:56 – Engine 2 fuel switch moved back to RUN.

I don't think I've ever seen a CCTV that's anywhere approaching accurate time, let alone to the second.

There's an even better explanation. Parameters like airspeed, altitude, fuel cutoff switch position are recorded at various frequencies. For stuff like Airspeed, you're likely to get 1Hz or even 8Hz or more on some frames. For stuff that doesn't change very often, like, for example, fuel cutoff switch position, you normally get 0.25Hz or even less. Which basically means, you can switch the switch off, and it won't be recorded for up to 4 seconds. Or you can switch it off, and quickly back on, and it won't even show up in the data.

Not surprised, at all. There are people who have decided that the switches don’t matter and a control system can cut off fuel like happened here. People would rather make up an alternate version of the event than believe reality.
The thing is, the switches aren't motorized. For one switch to move on its own via some divine intervention would be once in a billion. Both switches at the same time? No.
