Well Russia went ahead and added Hungary to their "unfriendly countries" list so I guess the FB friend request was already declined 😂
Anyway pragmatism is more important, even if Russia is a whole circus from top to bottom
ushuarioh@reddit
this happening now it's fake news
TrizzyG@reddit
So Hungary is not on the list? Is that what youre trying to say?
ushuarioh@reddit
no, that it was already.
TrizzyG@reddit
Okay, so how does that change what I said?
ushuarioh@reddit
in that it "went ahead" like it was because of this
TrizzyG@reddit
It "went ahead" and added Hungary to their unfriendly countries list therefore they obviously aren't going to be...friends...
Does humour really need this level of explanation lmao
ironbutterflies@reddit
yes. yes it does.
Russel_Rogers@reddit
It happened three years ago, along with other countries and territories
kwonza@reddit
There was a thread yesterday on /r/worldnews about it, title was wrong as it was claiming that Russia added Hungary, despite Putin’s press secretary saying “Hungary IS on non-friendly list, so we don’t congratulate them”
Anyway, 1500 comments and only one with 4 upvotes correcting them, the rest is morons trying to drive conclusions from a wrong title and not reading the article.
I always knew that sub was shit, but I never understood just how shit and circlejerky it was, fuck worldnews and people who go there
loggy_sci@reddit
So something that happened was confirmed by a he Russia press secretary, and it makes an entire subreddit idiots because not enough people corrected it?
Russians the most victimized people in the history of humanity.
kwonza@reddit
It wasn’t confirmed, it was simply mentioned and the tone as well as the meaning of the phrase was entirely misunderstood
Lower_Cockroach2432@reddit
WorldNews was quietly removing articles of settler violence, even from extremely "trusted" sources the CNN or the Guardian, and of Gaza war crimes.
They're 100,000% a propaganda mill subreddit now especially for US-Israeli interests (except when the acts are unignorably egregious).
kwonza@reddit
The fact that it’s a default sub is a fucking disgrace. Reddit app should come with a warning about you being bombarded by US-Israel propaganda
Short_Ebb2076@reddit
Reddit literally has former Atlantic council employee in board of directors. Why would they warn of themselves?
NezumiAniki@reddit
Isn't the only reason people open worldnews is to laugh at 2iq mouth breathers
Something like this is to be expected
BendicantMias@reddit
r/worldnews literally has blatantly transparent propaganda posted there every single day. By 'blatantly transparent' I mean it's not even suspect reporting by possibly biased third party media or anything, but rather claims by official state media. Only from one side though...
kwonza@reddit
Don’t forget also banning people who are trying to correct them or bringing nuances into discussion.
US is full of people who only read comic books and see the world exclusively as “good guys that can do no wrong vs literally Hitler” and that sub is a clear indication of that.
TrizzyG@reddit
Deeply unserious country 🙄
Russel_Rogers@reddit
Why, putting to the list doesn't have much with selling oil
TrizzyG@reddit
Having such a list in the first place is the juvenile part. Nobody was saying Hungary shouldn't be pragmatic. Under Orban though they were anything but pragmatic.
BendicantMias@reddit
The West has 'bad country' lists and gets a pass. Every other country can too. If the West wants to lecture other nations about what's "juvenile", they should first get rid of their own lists.
kapuh@reddit
Doesn't make it more serious but it wouldn't be a thread about Russia without an whataboutism. Thank you for your service comrade!
JoBoltaHaiWoHotaHai@reddit
I think the whataboutism makes sense here. Making it out like Russia is the only country with unfriendly country list
TrizzyG@reddit
No the whataboutism doesnt make sense. The vast majority of countries do not have such silly lists. Its just pure deflection, and a pathetic attempt at that.
kapuh@reddit
Who wrote this?
Where did somebody say it is THE ONLY country?
BendicantMias@reddit
Wouldn't be a westoid response without you guys fave buzzword to avoid whenever your blatant hypocrisy is pointed out. Even half its wiki page is taken up with all the criticisms of how much you abuse that buzzword to avoid owning up to your hypocrisy, but it's not like the people who use it are arguing in good faith anyway so of course you don't care about that.
kapuh@reddit
So, you are surprised that your daily tool is being criticised with the same critique?
How about, you just stop doing it?
MarderFucher@reddit
Orbán was the only leader who continued to increase dependence on russia after 2022. Magyar can't magic wand that away in short time.
But he already scheduled to meet Croatia's PM regarding starting work on Adria pipeline (which exists, but it's capacity is insufficient as of now).
Chipay@reddit
This position would be lamented as capitulation towards Russia in many European nations, but Orbán's position was so russophilic (and more importatly anti-ukrainian) that pure pragmatism is viewed as a moral virtue.
The EPP will take good care of Magyar, and much will be forgiven so long as Hungary doesn't interfere with European ambitions.
