I love Spaceballs at least as much as the next guy, but the track record for works where the entire elevator pitch is "remember this thing you loved a quarter century or more ago? Well, here's more of it!" is more bad than good.
We've had shitty nostalgia-cash-grab revivals of Star Wars, Star Trek, Jurassic Park, Ghostbusters... how many times do we need to learn this lesson?

There have been some good ones, though! Spinal Tap 2 and Bill & Ted 3 come to mind. I even kind of liked the little kids Ghostbusters movie, but I watched it on a plane and things get a little loopy up there.

Transformers, GI Joe, etc. Not to mention there are almost zero good comedy sequels. Dumb & Dumber To was awful. Super Troopers 2 and Anchorman 2 both are terrible. Ace Ventura 2 is still the only one better than the original imo.

I went into it fully understanding it would never be as good as the original. You can't recapture that. I think they nailed it and I'm excited for the 3rd one. Also, as a lifetime restaurant worker, The Slammin Salmon is one of their best and mostly overlooked movie.

Yeah, but it was fun watching them spoof the original trilogy because you could tell it was done with affection, like everyone was in on the joke.
