What is your favourite cartoon show from when you were a kid that you feel is quite obscure?

Looking specifically for cartoon tv shows and trying to find the most obscure one.
Mine would be Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors.
PhysicsStock2247@reddit
Dinosaucers. It was my go to cartoon to watch before the school bus arrived.
Tentonham@reddit
When I was a kid this and Denver the last dinosaur played back to back in the DINO POWER HOUR! It was great.
FethB@reddit
Oh, my gosh, yes!
CottaBird@reddit
I still get the theme to Denver the last dinosaur stuck in my head
mecha_toddzilla80@reddit
Never met anyone else as an adult who remembers this.
chambercharade@reddit
This picture is triggering memories.
Adrasteia-One@reddit
Right here! I absolutely loved this show. I was deep into my dinosaur phase when this show aired, so I was one happy kid.
JonnyQuest1981@reddit
I can’t recall a single episode or character name, but can confirm, this show was amazing.
CottaBird@reddit
Ichy the ichthyosaur is the only name I remember. I got up extra early in kindergarten to have this half hour block before I went to school.
Creepy_Throat8335@reddit
I still remember Dinosaucers! Allo was, is, and always my favorite character from this show.
Sarzek@reddit
Here in México they were a big deal, the dubs were hilarious!
PapaTua@reddit
I do. I even remember the theme song
Brasticus@reddit
Din-O-Sau-Cers!
el_pinko_grande@reddit
I only got to see this show like 3-4 times when I was a kid, which I viewed as tragic, because I was unusually obsessed with dinosaurs even for a kid.
ShortBrownAndUgly@reddit
I still sing parts of the intro to myself sometimes
InvisibleGiantess@reddit
Vaguely remember the show but vividly remember the toy triceratops we had with the saddle, mask, and rider. Super cool
sixmilesoldier@reddit
Dinosaucers was awesome!!
avalonfaith@reddit
For sure before school watching.

Also a killer 80s intro theme!

M-M-M-M-MASK! Liked the show and had several of the toys. Still have, had kinda thought my kids might like but my 2 sons could not care less.
TifanAching@reddit
Did this have a character that used the spoiler of their car as a glider? I remember getting that toy as a kid.
Has_Two_Cents@reddit
I had the boulder hill gas station and all the action figures. Loved this show.
Abidarthegreat@reddit
The cartoon was alright, but the toys were absolutely amazing.
August_T_Marble@reddit
This is it. This is what I came here for.
BoringDocToo@reddit
My kids still play with the toys!
pmo0710@reddit
The best toys out there, super fun and creative
EricRShelton@reddit
I had to scroll way too far to find this. I had a cheap vinyl wallet from Chuck E. Cheese that I put a StarCom sticker on so I could be more grownup/awesome. Those toys were amazing.
hacksawomission@reddit
I had the big bad triangle ship with the little triangle fighters that magneted in place, and the big US ship with the expanding cargo pod and a bunch of white mini fighters and tons of guys and and and I need a nap. These were the best. Yeah bitch! Magnets!
xXsaberstrikeXx@reddit
Holy crap these toys were so much fun.
Darkest_Rahl@reddit
Anyone remember Bravestarr?

Yep. Actually tracked down the first episode a few years back. Explains my love of Firefly and Cowboy Bebop.

Responsible_Sound_71@reddit
You are correct. Idk if it was just me, but he had to be based off of Burt Reynolds right?!
IceSmiley@reddit
Max Ray was a Burt Reynolds character?
Eledridan@reddit

BodyBagSlam@reddit
Yep. This one was fun too. The toys were neat as well. You could mix and match stuff. Of course, that also meant random pieces parts everywhere. But still, a cool memory to share. I want to say I had a few issues of the comics. Likewise with the Visionaries.
Spirited-Gold117@reddit
Belle and Sebastian. It was on Nickelodeon. I loved that show. Also, Dangermouse.
mattbagodonuts@reddit
I’ve never met another person that remembers Belle and Sebastian.
Spirited-Gold117@reddit
Well here I am. I fuckin loved that dog
mattbagodonuts@reddit
Sebastian’s mom was trash though.
LiliWenFach@reddit
It's possibly the earliest cartoon I remember watching (I was born in '85). I can remember sitting on my nan's sofa and the opening of an episode. I don't remember Belle, but the name Sebastian stayed with me - but like you, no one else I knew watched it, so it was many years before I worked out its name.
Illustrious_You_6210@reddit
My afternoon un summer were consumed by watching Belle and Sebastian, The Mysterious Cities of Gold, then Gene Autry theater.
barbeloh@reddit
Mysterious Cities of Gold and Spartacus ran at dawn where I lived. I would wake up super early to watch them

Mr Dress-up. Apparently it was Canadian 🤷🏽♂️. But I grew up in Michigan. We got it when I was a kid. But not a ton of others from Michigan.

I remeber him too! I am also from the Mitten.
bikeonychus@reddit
WHEELED WARRIORRRRS!
This is the only time I have heard Jace and the wheeled warriors mentioned outside of conversations between me and my husband.
evilw@reddit
It aired at 7:30am during a weekday. I’d squeeze it in before heading the bus stop. I’ve never met anyone who knows this show!
bikeonychus@reddit
Ah, we were in the UK, so it was a little different.
evilw@reddit
Oh, wild! I’m from Detroit and could tune in the CBC so maybe that’s how I watched. Figured that was why I never met anyone who remembered the show. But aired in the UK too!
fivefootmommy@reddit
I am also from the Detroit area. I loved Jace, but once I moved south no one had ever heard of it
Mr_SunnyBones@reddit
It was on Sky ( a satellite channel)on saturday mornings if I remember rightly ( Im in Ireland)
brodievonorchard@reddit
You never came home from the bar with me 10+ years ago when this and the theme from MASK were staples of my drunken YouTube karaoke.
evilw@reddit
Yasss!
LiliWenFach@reddit
I'm in the UK. I seem to remember it being on really early in the morning. One of the earliest cartoons I remember, along with Sharky and George.
bikeonychus@reddit
Yeah, it was weekends though. Saturday mornings.
killit@reddit
I'm in the UK too, I LOVED Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors! My dad would take me to the local video shop and tell me to pick something, this was one of my favourites, don't know how many times we rented it but would probably have been better just buying it lol. None of my friends knew what it was, or were interested in watching it, so it was just me and my brother
Philhughes_85@reddit (OP)
Same for me, I only know of it because an off-licence at the top of my street did VHS rentals and they had some weird stuff and this was up there.
DrSheetzMTO@reddit
Those toys were dope.
Steelysam2@reddit
My kids found my old ones a few months ago. They still go hard.
Eledridan@reddit
Stack and attack! I had Armed Force, so all the other toys could snap to that frame.
jbott456@reddit
Dude, I’ve been searching for the name of this show since I was 7. Thank you.
ShowMeYourHappyTrail@reddit
Wuzzles, Snorks, and the old Dungeons and Dragons cartoon (which was way more obscure before the recent D&D boom lol).
IceSmiley@reddit
I had Snorks toys and i have no idea what fast food restaurant they were from, not sure if it was happy meal toys
ShowMeYourHappyTrail@reddit
What?! Amazing! My favorite Happy Meal toys were the Fraggles in their veggie cars.
IceSmiley@reddit
Yea and I had the yellow guy, Tooter and the girl but idk what fast food restaurant it was from, my grandma used to get me food from there, I know the Fraggle Rock cars youre talking about though, i have the guy riding in a carrot car at my mums house 🤣
Specific_Hamster6778@reddit
Snorks and Wuzzles were awesome!
My mom wouldn't let me watch the D&D show. She thought there was something bad/evil about it or something.
ShowMeYourHappyTrail@reddit
Yeah, the old Satanic Panic era in the 80s. Lol I think they are on Youtube if you want to see them.

Aware_Policy_9174@reddit
I had completely forgotten about The Littles until I saw it on the forgotten tv shows sub a few months ago. I think I got confused because I also read the borrowers books as a kid.
avalonfaith@reddit
Yes to both! Noozles!
Rawbeet@reddit
Bucky o hare is more abstract than it should be. It had a couple awesome games and one of the first crushes I had on a girl was that psychic cat.
2099AD@reddit
Bucky O'Hare was originally a comic series created by Larry Hama, the guy that did basically the entire run of GI Joe comics in the 80s (and had a pretty lengthy run on Wolverine's solo comic).
The comics only comprise what was like the first episode of the cartoon, which means a LOT of the show had to be made up by the animation team.
Rawbeet@reddit
Thank you for this as now i must look into the comics.
I know the arcade has some original dialog by the voice cast. Which is worth checking out on mame.
2099AD@reddit
The Bucky O'Hare comic stories were originally printed in the first six issues an anthology series called Echo of Futurepast (which only had 9 issues total).
And then it got reprinted a bunch of times:
http://buckyohare.org/comic.shtml
Also, yeah, the arcade game is really fun! I've actually gotten to play on a legit machine a few times.
Rawbeet@reddit
This is awesome! There's even more episodes of the show!

Grinzy@reddit
Never even heard of this one...
phillium@reddit
Was that the one that had that 3D section in each episode where you'd have to put on the glasses?
BlackVulcanLonghorn@reddit
YES!
phillium@reddit
Huh, reading up on it (and looking up the odd one-sided sunglasses they supplied), the 3d effect was something called the Pulfrich Effect. Apparently, the brain takes a little longer to process a dark image than a bright one, so the image coming into the eye with the dark lens is processed about a frame behind the other one, giving the 3d effect. It also lets the video look fine for people without the glasses. Nifty.

PvtHudson093@reddit

I loved the Rainbow Brite cartoon when I was little. It didn’t last long, there was only one season but I watched it a lot.
phantom_phreak29@reddit
Jayce had the best opening and end credits song of the 80s. Only thing that's close is Lisa lougheeds come with us from the ending of the racoons

The New Adventures of Beany & Cecil. A reboot of a midcentury cartoon, but done by John Kricfalusi before Ren & Stimpy.
Also the Sam & Max, Freelance Police cartoon, about a dog and bunny duo, based on a cult comic.
Lindenismean@reddit
I was absolutely obsessed with Exo Squad. They didn’t shy away from the horrors of war or racism either.
mesosuchus@reddit
It's surprising that this has not been rebooted.
Lindenismean@reddit
It’d be amazing as a live action.
WhimsicalPonies@reddit
I loved it show! And the toys were amazing. Had a whole shelf of them when I was 12. Still remember those tiny plastic “fusion packs” that stuck in the back.
hacksawomission@reddit
Oh man, slavery, genocide, genetic engineering, human machine integration, and the toys were awesome to boot.
Lindenismean@reddit
I did a rewatch a few years back, and while the animation is pretty par for the course for its time the story is still excellent and holds its own.
Shabbadoo1015@reddit
Don’t think this is obscure. Routinely referenced as having one of the best theme songs in these types of discussions.
leshpar@reddit
Bucky o hare. I didn't get into Jace until my late 30s. That show is still awesome!
jikt@reddit
We have the French version of this theme song on our playlist because it's fucking awesome (and my wife is French). Even our kids go nuts when they hear the opening and they have no idea what it's about beyond what is said in the song.
That theme song is up there with Pokémon.

Demetan Croaker, The Boy Frog (late 70s)
This was extremely extremely dark.
Animals just died here and there, bullies all around and not only adults figures out cold figures but when nature, really, everybody just hated the frog, abuse, I recall one episode where he becomes friend to a bird who flies him away... While on a broken wing and add expected (I think) the board just dies.
It was strange that bad stuff just happened, just.. Because.

The entire OST for that show is amazing. A masterpiece by Shuki Levy, which is saying something considering all the other great scores he wrote including, He-Man, Inspector Gadget and Jace and the Wheeled Warriors. The theme to Pole Position also need an honourable mention.
