Have you used the FP versions? They are way too powerful.

The civ power vs full power argument is draining by the wayside with the increasingly growing emitter technology. The whole FP vs Civ really only applies to standard laser technology. Yes the mW output is higher on the standard model, but when we’re already at the 100mW illuminator output on the civ model… there is no realistic scenario where you need more than that. Not to mention, the regular 0.7mW laser is fine for distances you’ll actually shoot.

This isn’t the same as the PEQ15 vs Atpial-C debates from yesteryear… the civ market has caught up.

I don’t think it’s fair to compare slave labor Chinese lasers with American design and factory support. I’ve had 3 M6TR’s fail, I’m on my second Iris, and nothing from SMS has held up to rain. Are they cheaper? Sure. I’m highly skeptical they would outlive an OGL though.

American design doesn’t necessarily equate to thousands of dollars per unit though. US made LAMS costing more than actual gen 3 NV units is silly when IIT’s are leaps and bounds harder to manufacture

I’ve heard of a lot of horror stories with FP US made LAMS having issues or failing as well and depending on the manufacturer you may be SOL that they’ll fix it. At least with the chinese lasers they’ll warranty it lol

Once again you are relying on the entire premise that “civ” power is currently same market of FDA restricted laser technology. They grey market’s existence is being held on my a VERY loose thread. 3EIR, Eotech, B.E. Meyers, are all making high quality civilian market lasers that out perform the old PEQ15, with a warranty. Are they expensive? Yes. This entire realm of shooting is expensive. Do you need to buy it? No. But there are tons of people who can justify spending $2k on a laser aiming module.
