Not the US OICW program, or Future Force Warrior, or Land Warrior, but a British concept called Infantryman 2000 made by Scicon in 1984.
I love this picture, though. It's on the cover of Jane's Military Review from 1985, the only edition I own, and it always looked cool as hell.

I remember in the mid 90s when I was a kid, my mom took me and a friend to an Army recruiter up the street because we liked to play Army. He gave me a magnet with a guy all kitted up in Land Warrior gear. It looked awesome, like something the Colonial Marines in Aliens would use.
A decade or so later, I enlisted, and thank god they never issued us that crap.

Dude! I have a a 12" GI Joe knockoff that came with one of those! I thought that it was some crappy made up gun. I've always wondered what it was based on. Cool find!

First Is British scicon infantryman 2000 concept from the 80s. The others are mockups of the objective force weapons system from 2002 to be issued to combat units in 2012 and the future Warrior weapon system from the same year (that Will eventually have heat seeking munitions and Will be fielded as soon as 2025)
