I'm surprised he's still going I got tired of his schtick years ago. But to each their own.
BasicEditor5965@reddit
Yeah same with Doug, Hoovie et al. It’s what happens when we watch the same thing forever.
I’m glad Mr Regular is still here to fire a few off at the cybertruck and other terrible vehicles like it.
10000Didgeridoos@reddit
My loss of interest in Doug's content is that he is just never negative at all about anything almost to the point where I feel like he is afraid to risk losing access to any manufacturers or rich people who own the more exotic cars he gets his hands on. When his entire channel is an ad for carsandbids, and he is rich enough to do whatever he wants, the vibe of his earlier days of "random goofball guy nerding out on the design of cars" is gone which is the reason he became big in the first place.
He worked hard to get where he is, don't get me wrong there, but it's just not relatable at all the way it used to be. I feel like I'm watching an infomercial more than I'm watching just some guy crawl around the inside of a car for the fun of it. Every single car he does a vid on these days just happens to also be for auction on his own website (yes now majority owned by someone else but still his nonetheless), or is some brand new vehicle that a brand most definitely is giving to him early with an implied agreement he isn't going to criticize anything about it much.
It's not being a shill for it, but it's just also apparent that he doesn't feel like he has the freedom to be honest. If he hated some car he was doing a video on, he'd never tell us.
praetor47@reddit
my loss of interest in Doug's content was back when he introduced his points system years ago, which exposed he didn't know shit about cars beyond "look at them gimmicks! look, a hexagonal AC vent, just like the air intake! so cool"
DooceBigalo@reddit
he's been negative plenty of times, just thinking of his Prelude review he didnt hold back recently
DriveRightCarBuying@reddit
Doug Deemuro is actually the most objective automotive journalist in the business when it comes to new cars. He pays for his own flights, hotels, and meals during press events. Was doing it long before he got rich too. He’s the only journalist who does this aside from someone at WSJ (iirc).
You could argue his Cars and Bids sourced cars aren’t the most objective but it’s sort of self selecting in a way. He’s not going to go out of his way to review a car he doesn’t like or find interesting.
coffinfl0p@reddit
Yea and how do you think you keep getting invited to press events in the first place? Certainly not by being truly objective. With a channel that big you can't afford to be pissing off your industry connections.
BasicEditor5965@reddit
Consumer reports has been paying for their own products to review objectively forever. Doug uses that conscript as a crutch.
I can’t remember a time he was truly very negative about a car especially a brand new model. He’s also generally positive on anything he reviews and the negatives seem like he had to reach real hard to come up with, overall.
I say this as a big Doug fan.
DriveRightCarBuying@reddit
Doug has been hypercritical of modern Ferraris for the past 5+ years. You could probably make a 30 minute video of all the times he’s talked about how the SF90 was a complete failure for Ferrari.
That said I somewhat agree — he’s somewhere between goose man (who is at the other end of the spectrum and finds something to hate about absolutely everything) and a Chris Harris Ferrari review where all he does is rave about it for 15 minutes.
r00000000@reddit
Ye he's talked about it on the podcast before, he's not interested in doing reviews for cars he doesn't find interesting and rejects suggestions for cars he doesn't care about which biases his reviews to being positive unless he's reviewing some car that's interesting for being bad.
banned_from_r_cars@reddit
I am not sure if you're being serious because I think you can point to like that Honda Prelude lost recently or even the Civic Type R almost a decade ago to counter your thoughts.
He pays for his own flights and hotels when he's invited to review something before it's on sale, otherwise he waits to review an actual person's.
And to your point one of the dealerships that he reviewed vehicles from had corporate repremand them and tell them not to let Doug review their vehicles and then mention them for free.
Basically I think that most cars are decent and Doug isn't a full on hater like a lot of people are to get views.
ZaheerAlGhul@reddit
On the cars and bids podcast he seems to much more critical of brands
munche@reddit
He just put out a worst cars on sale video like in the past week
BasicEditor5965@reddit
Cars ans bids ruined him for being objective.
But he’s still great and one of the best out there to learn about an all new model.
Ivanbeatnhoff@reddit
His review on the Suzuki SV650 was so wrong I stopped watching.
ecefour@reddit
I think i stopped watching with his late model ford ranger review. He went on a rant about how 5w-30 was “basically water”. I think he eventually took the video down.
CheapoA2@reddit
That's exactly when I stopped watching as well. I get that he's not a tech/specs guy and his videos are much more about the place a car has in pop culture but man...
Spartan57975@reddit
fwiw, he did take down that review to remove the oil segment
munche@reddit
If there's one thing I watch joke videos for: technical accuracy
BlueFiSTr@reddit
As somebody who started riding on a 1st Gen sv650 I felt specifically called out lol
m1ndbl0wn@reddit
Great starter bike, fun and reliable, affordable, can't f with that
Mimical@reddit
There's a bell curve meme here where the end state is that the 650 is just a great bike at a higher level as well. Lighter, cheaper on insurance, less expensive to track, still hits 130 mph.
Honestly, the 600-900 CC bikes are so unbelievably good these days it's hard to really justify anything beyond a litre bike.
RCbuilds4cheapr@reddit
Been into bikes 30 years now and the sv650 is what I recommend to people the most often. It’s just excellent all around and it can still be tracked like nobodies business
OurHeroDeNiro@reddit
Always fun to pop into an /r/cars thread and see which direction the circlejerk is turning.
ClosetBronydom@reddit
Normally I find them enjoyable, UNLESS the review starts off with a nasally "character" who we as the viewer are meant to hate. Those tend to go on for 90 seconds too long and it's normally just enough of a hump for me to just go watch something else
10000Didgeridoos@reddit
that's the problem with infinite content choices. When there is a sidebar right there of 20 other related videos to go check out, you can't afford to spend a full minute and a half repeating HOT DICKS and expect most of them to still be watching by the time you finally move on.
I've enjoyed many of his videos in the past but even then it was hit and miss and he never had a good sense about when to stop doing a bit and get on with it.
I do respect his commitment to being himself though. It's always been a channel of "like it or hate it, I don't care" with minimal advertising tie ins the way so many others became infinite reels of promo codes for buying cheap bullshit.
ClosetBronydom@reddit
Yeah credit where credit due besides the "buy a $50 mug and maybe win a built car" deal he's stayed pretty steadfast on doing exactly what he finds amusing
Chosen1PR@reddit
I don't watch the reviews anymore either, but The Roman's solo podcast-style deep dives are cool.
GaviFromThePod@reddit
I like the reviews, but Roman really bugs me because all he does is complain about the same stuff that reddit complains about like screens which I find uninteresting.
wagoncirclermike@reddit
Roman has an obnoxious cadence that really puts me off. He’s clearly smart and a good writer, but he tries to mimic Mr. R a lot and it doesn’t work.
Abba_Fiskbullar@reddit
Aspirger's voice.
10000Didgeridoos@reddit
His narrations have the same vibe as someone doing voice-over for a college class PowerPoint. He's smart and what he's saying is well thought out but it's just so monotone and lacking in presentation pizazz that I lose interest in about 2 minutes. Think about how just the way Jeremy Clarkson talks makes even his most buffoonish statements seem profound and interesting compared to if you ran the same lines through a voice to text app and listened to them that way.
wagoncirclermike@reddit
YES. And when he tries to do Mr. R's humor in that voice, it just sounds so awkward and weird.
ExplosiveMachine@reddit
The Roman's podcasts are great. He pads and fills the episodes a lot to draw them out but honestly it's great to listen to for me. it's like that friend that likes to talk but what he says is actually interesting so you just chill out and let him
SquallyZ06@reddit
I watched his stuff for a couple years. Then one day I noticed most of his comments were less funny and more mean spirited and I stopped watching.
LebronBackinCLE@reddit
Never seen or heard this guy. Listened to about 15 seconds… gave it another 15 seconds because I couldn’t believe my ears. And… nope.
ComoEstanBitches@reddit
He's like the perfect edgelord redditor car content micro influencer
4r4r4real@reddit
It was tired a decade ago.
ShortBrownAndUgly@reddit
I used to love his stuff and so did this sub. But yeah I got kind of tired of it too
sat5ui_no_hadou@reddit
Every recent RCR review just comes back to him talking about being a gay furry. We get it, you’re a gay furry.
NotSoBadBrad@reddit
Lol that shit never even came up this one.
sat5ui_no_hadou@reddit
Yeah, this one he spent 20 minutes talking about an electric vehicle, but never once mentioned what the range was
mailer__daemon@reddit
I promise you literally no one goes to RCR for actual car reviews, come on, you know this.
sat5ui_no_hadou@reddit
That was literally my point, all he does is talk about being gay. But reddit wants to pretend he’s making some insightful argument about production vehicles. Meanwhile, he doesn’t even mention range in a video about EVs.
NotSoBadBrad@reddit
Cause nobody gives a shit, that wasn't what this review was about. The range doesn't change the fact that it's a terribly built vehicle that drives like shit and is everything a vehicle shouldn't be.
sat5ui_no_hadou@reddit
A video that covers driving dynamics, build quality, and ergonomics but omits something as basic as range in an EV isn’t really a review at all, it’s a soapbox piece.
Audience-Electrical@reddit
Crazy comment from a WRX driver
sat5ui_no_hadou@reddit
Just because I am a gay furry doesn’t mean I need to talk about it all the time
Ancient_Persimmon@reddit
"Review" is doing a lot of work here, even compared to the usual.
Carvair-98@reddit
Honestly though, have they ever really been "reviews"? It's more just been him trying to vaguely connect some profound or abstract concept to some 2000's Daimler-Chrysler product.
Some are fun, or certain sections/small videos are fun (I love the Corvettes video), but overall it can get a bit samey. "It really says something about society!!!" the car channel 🚗
AdmiralZassman@reddit
The Honda accord review was a review alright. Sadly the best have been taken down
OurHeroDeNiro@reddit
I watch him inconsistently, but I'm okay with his schtick because literally nobody else is doing it. At least he offers something unique to the automotive YouTube landscape.
SupersonicJaymz@reddit
My favourite was when he reviewed the Hayabusa and coined the phrase "Feral North American Bro"
ddaw735@reddit
Bro is a oddball
banned_from_r_cars@reddit
Legit a gay furry.
Logitech4873@reddit
So?
banned_from_r_cars@reddit
It's oddball.
Krispythecat@reddit
He is not my cup of tea, but I do fricking love that such a weirdo is comfortable being so weird to such a surprisingly large audience .
The Tom Green of car reviews if you will
Recoil42@reddit
He was really good at the height of popularity. His PT Cruiser review is an absolute masterpiece, for one example.
ctn91@reddit
I prefer the savage geese pt cruiser review myself.
kilroy-was-here-2543@reddit
Savage geese and occasionally throttle house are about the only car review channels I watch anymore
Tw0Rails@reddit
I enjored his recent two 'stand up monologyes' on jerps and pop up headlights.
Crossing that theater to car topic boundary is fun.
Masterminded@reddit
His schtick has always been "Mr. Plinkett for cars." He does say something profound from time to time, though, and has stayed more grounded than many other YouTubers.
p8ntballnxj@reddit
My favorite niche reddit thing: people complaining about RCR outside of the RCR subreddit.
ossyoos@reddit
Or the people in the RCR sub who have no idea it's about a youtube channel.
Carvair-98@reddit
I assume your second favorite niche reddit thing is, naturally, people complaining about RCR inside of the RCR subreddit.
And honestly, I can't even judge. Every now and then, I always go and get a measurement on what people think about that Nexpo guy. Sort of interesting at first, but I eventually had to make sure I wasn't crazy in thinking videos like "the one where he tries to make a dead-link scary" were just him getting high on his own supply. Something, I assume, leads to the way he ends sentences like....
....
....this.

TacoBell_Bathroom69@reddit
Dang howcome everyone hates on rcr now? Never watched him much
10000Didgeridoos@reddit
Same as any other long term internet personality - he's just been making the same content for too long. And I don't think it's really much of a priority for him other than a way to generate some amount of passive income, because roasting the Cybertruck and its buyers in 2026 is about 2 years too late. There's nothing left to say about it that hadn't already been said somewhere else in the interim.
rcr voice
vaultdweller1223@reddit
This is my first time hearing about this guy. I lived under a youtube rock because for so long I didn't have money for a nice car and ignored the car industry from like 2005-2020 but I loved this review. I had not audibly laughed so much during a car video. Do you have any other recommendations car youtube recs? I love Savagegeese and Throttle House but this video was sooo different in a fun way.
DJAllOut@reddit
I like his review of that LS swapped Winnebago Chieftain
AcrobaticButterfly@reddit
The Dodge avenger review from RCR is peak
adwarn25@reddit
Check out his pt cruiser review and others that strike your fancy. I'm a long time fan.
That1one1dude1@reddit
That’s a really good impression
Chicken_Zest@reddit
Objectively? Mr. Regular is a lousy reviewer. His review videos just serve to set up a shtick that got old 5 years ago. If you don't like the shtick there's literally nothing worthwhile.
banned_from_r_cars@reddit
Because you could prompt ChatGPT to write a Cybertruck review as RCR and it would have produced this exact same script.
Logitech4873@reddit
Is that his fault?
TacoBell_Bathroom69@reddit
Yes, that is an interesting question to pose. Is it his fault that an AI can copy him? I don't think so. I think he has been the same for years after watching the video. The fact is that it doesn't matter if an AI can copy his style. It can copy everyone's style.
n0exit@reddit
I never realized there were so many people that had a hard on for the Cyber truck.
TacoBell_Bathroom69@reddit
Who said that. The thing is a dumpster. E46 is the only car anyone needs.
taypat@reddit
Does he mention how many furry costumes he can haul in it? I bet he does
Nervous_Olive_5754@reddit
Everybody ragging on Brian reminds me why I have to avoid manosphere hobby communities.
GoldenState15@reddit
You think not liking a guy cause his videos are terrible and annoying points to toxic masculinity? Weird take
Nervous_Olive_5754@reddit
There are people who always disliked him, for sure. The mix of apparently highbrow and definitely lowbrow humor isn't going to be for everyone. It just ramped up after he comes out.
And probably it's more to do with being a furry than being gay, I can't say. Now the guy makes them uncomfortable.
WarDEagle@reddit
I had no idea about any of this but I’ve never been able to make it through more than 60 seconds of his content and struggle to understand how anyone could enjoy it.
Schittt@reddit
I think a lot of people just grew out of the style of content same way I did. I liked his videos a lot when I was 20, 10 years later it's just not for me any more
Nervous_Olive_5754@reddit
It can always be for lots of reasons, but there's trends in the data, too.
GoldenState15@reddit
Idc what his sexuality is or what he dresses up as lol. His automotive content isn't good
Nervous_Olive_5754@reddit
Ok cool
Morbidly_Off_Piste@reddit
That is an utterly bizarre take to think that even a fraction of the people who don't like his content don't like it because of his sexual preferences.
Long before he exposed his private life, people were not fans of his content.
Seems a little convenient to dismiss this criticism of his work as being motivated by some bigotry, doesn't it? It's a lot harder to just, you know, accept the fact the work he produces just isn't very good.
Nervous_Olive_5754@reddit
There for sure were, and I responded to a similar comment elsewhere.
Before, it was a small minority who didn't like it. After he came out as gay and especially later as a furry (and frankly talked about it a lot) the tone and tenor of the criticism changed.
My girlfriend never liked him.
Cessnaporsche01@reddit
I'm sure this one especially kicked the hornet's nest, since the people The Truck is built for and who got absolutely eviscerated in this video are a good chunk of the subreddit population.
This community may hate EVs, but they love licking boots more than they love EVs. Just as long as those boots are treading on some poor, and not giving out a speeding ticket or enforcing safety/emissions laws
familyguy20@reddit
Lmao yeah. I love his videos because he does it will real owners of most of the cars and it’s great to just see the variety of cars and people who own them!
Nervous_Olive_5754@reddit
Yeah everyone loved him before when he was telling us Miatas worked on girls.
Mysterious-Lick@reddit
Surprised anyone is still reviewing this, for clicks or otherwise.
Ancient_Persimmon@reddit
Wait until the Dual Motor version hits the road; we'll have a whole new round to bellyache over.
Logitech4873@reddit
What do you mean?
Ancient_Persimmon@reddit
The $60k Dual Motor is about to roll out, instead of just the $80k Premium and the $100k Beast versions.
Mysterious-Lick@reddit
You’re right.
KrazyCroat@reddit
I watch most of their videos and this is one of my favourites in recent memory.
TurkeyBLTSandwich@reddit
Idk why, but this video just hit and resonated with me. Really enjoyed it!
Roman reports are always pretty good to listen. Loved the Honda Vs Nissan takeovers
xt1nct@reddit
I stopped watching and this one makes me want to continue.
jdmb0y@reddit
Yep this nailed it.
Masterminded@reddit
Best regular video in years, I think.
musicartandcpus@reddit
Agreed.
Roman has been really carrying it a bit for me with his race to the bottom and Roman Report/deep dive video essays. But this one Mr.Regular nailed it. It’s actually funny to watch and even funnier if you watched his Tesla Model S review all those years ago.
RallyLancer@reddit
Man I used to watch his channel religiously. Is he still talking about getting bullied in high school? I really hope he learns to let it go and finds peace. I could watch the shtick get stale but I just can't do the fetish stuff. Like put that on a different channel man
WigginIII@reddit
Honestly people’s tastes change and how they consume media changes.
I used to watch EVERY Doug Demuro video. Every RCR video. Every throttle house video.
I don’t watch nearly as much YouTube and instead watch too much short form content. I’m 3 years behind on Doug videos. I still watch the podcast because I can listen to it passively. I think all YouTubers have noted their viewership dropped as reels, TikTok, and shorts exploded in popularity.
stoned-autistic-dude@reddit
I think Doug is the only channel I’ve watched religiously since his Ferrari and Hummer days. I don’t care for his podcast.
stoned-autistic-dude@reddit
Ain’t nothing wrong with fuckin a car, brother. Unless it’s a different fetish.
cheeseIsNaturesFudge@reddit
I'm guessing they mean the furry content he has been dabbling in recently.
LesseFrost@reddit
That bird still got better investment advice than most stuff I see on YouTube lol
PeekyMonkeyB@reddit
praise from Doug DeMuro is like being praised for owning a cybertruck...
DJMagicHandz@reddit
That was a U.S.S.R. brutalist level review.
Whatcanyado420@reddit
Sorry, is this supposed to be funny? Serious question. Not sure if I am misunderstanding the “bit” or not.
GoldenState15@reddit
Every video is like this. His followers actually think it's funny
GoldenState15@reddit
Dude makes the most insufferable and unwatchable automotive content out there
Holeshot75@reddit
His 98 Corolla video was gold
Unfortunately the rest aren't better and some really bad ones
Intelligent_Top_328@reddit
Reddit will cum to this
FeraldGord74@reddit
There's a lot of recent stuff of theirs I haven't been too into, but THIS is absolutely 100% on-the-money perfection.
H_rusty@reddit
best review of this truck.. hits the nail on the head

For this review, while it feels cheap to take shots at at the Cybertruck...even for a non- standard act of Mr Regular... there were many, many mainstream defenses of the car on release date and various 'its the future bro get over it'.
Taking shots at the sluggishness, poor steering response, and day to day interior function is at odds with a lot of the glaze - even from the Cammissa review which did not seem honest at all.
Of course more than half the comments are a circlejerk of 'I used to wstch X until' ad 'I aktually watch y now'.
