Careless-Trick-5117@reddit
I think it’s pretty stupid that you need to pay $500 extra to get Pilot Sport 4S tires on a car of this caliber.
Hnry_Dvd_Thr_Awy@reddit
Disagree. I like all seasons by default on this car.
willpc14@reddit
I think all seasons were/would have been fine on the E-Ray and Stingray, but the Grand Sport is supposed to have the handling capabilities of the Z06. To me, that's dedicated summer tire territory.
Hnry_Dvd_Thr_Awy@reddit
Part of my reasoning is cold weather. My Blackwing had the PS4S and they were rocks under 40° F.
withsexyresults@reddit
But it’s a sports car, why compromise handling for cold weather.
Hnry_Dvd_Thr_Awy@reddit
Because the difference between all seasons and summer tires in the cold is much larger than in the warm and I only want one set of tires.
Morbidly_Off_Piste@reddit
You are absolutely out of your mind if you think all season tires are equivalent to summer tires in the summer.
If you can't tell the difference, you should not be buying a Corvette period.
Hnry_Dvd_Thr_Awy@reddit
Man if you could read that would be awesome.
Morbidly_Off_Piste@reddit
All season tires are garbage in cold weather. All season tires are garbage in warm weather.
I can read just fine. You're trying to push an old narrative about all season tires being 80% as good as summer and winter tires in those conditions. Which is absolutely positively not true.
If you can afford a $100,000 Corvette you
a) have space to store 4 tires b) can afford $2000 to buy a proper set of tires DESIGNED for the weather conditions in which they'll be used.
All season tires are for uber drivers in their priuses. They're not optimal for offroad vehicles like Land Cruisers and Jeeps, they're not optimal for Mustangs, Porsches, or Corvettes.
Hnry_Dvd_Thr_Awy@reddit
It’s pretty simple, really. I don’t want to deal with a second set of tires and I want to drive the same car all year long.
burtmacklin15@reddit
The people disagreeing clearly don't know what PSAS4's are, or haven't driven on them.
They are pretty close in performance to the PS4S in the warm, and eons better in the cold.
No brainer for street driving in mixed climates.
Hnry_Dvd_Thr_Awy@reddit
Yep. I would chatter my PS4S at 1/4 in my car at 40°F. But no I’m the idiot. 🙄 It’s weird the shit people will argue about in here.
burtmacklin15@reddit
It's mostly just car dude bros who think their one data point of experience makes them an expert on everything.
Any differing experience or opinion is seen as an attack on their masculinity, and they love to die on the smallest of hills.
withsexyresults@reddit
But still a big difference in handling and feel between all seasons and summer. I’d imagine most owners garage if it’s too cold out or live in a place where summer tires work year round
Hnry_Dvd_Thr_Awy@reddit
Absolutely, and they’ll happily pay the $500.
withsexyresults@reddit
Just wild corvette even come in all seasons when a lot of entry lvl sporty cars come atleast with ps4s
Careless-Trick-5117@reddit
That was my main point for making my comment. Your Civic and my Elantra both come on PS4S. Literal econoboxes.
minemaster11@reddit
I think it’s a nice that it comes with Michelin performance all seasons, PSAS4 is a great tire. If you plan to track the car you’re getting new wheels and tires anyways.
elan_alan@reddit
The Pilot Sport 4s is in now way a track tire. It’s a terrible track tire. I have them on my C8Z and on my R8. They get hot and greasy. However. They are a hell of a great canyon tire. Or back road tire. They are great in the rain too for a performance tire.
dL_EVO@reddit
Yup, they are a great all around street tire. Dry or wet, performs great on the street.
PS4S on track? Like you said, not great. Can be used but expect the tire to get greasy and flake.
elan_alan@reddit
They are great on the first lap or as an auto-x tire. But nothing more than that. Definitely a great summer tire. Hard as rock by in 50 and below.
Skensis@reddit
I feel they are fine for your first track day, to see if you even like the hobby... And then get something good.
I went to Cup2s and it's night and day a better experience.
elan_alan@reddit
Cup 2s 100% try out the Cup 2R’s. They are freaking awesome!!! Terrible on the street. You can’t get enough heat in them on the street.
MembershipNo2077@reddit
For autocross they perform well enough I find, but they still get torn up and their lifespan isn't much better than a 200TW tire, so at that point you might as well get one of those.
Though where they've REALLY shined in Autocross for me is when it rains.
Cessnaporsche01@reddit
Really? I have SuperSports on my Vette, and the only real issue they have on the track is that they perform badly in cold surface temperatures. I thought the 4S was just a newer, rebranded SuperSport?
elan_alan@reddit
They are “ok….” For a track tire. I do enjoy them for wet and daily use. Again great for carving up back curvy roads or canyon driving. Really great wet performance.
But for multiple track laps. They get torn up. They will over heat and then just get shredded. Your time will greatly diminish over each lap. Especially in summer heat.
But if you are just going out wanting to have a fun time, you won’t really notice. And unless you really pushing it too. But most novices won’t notice or even touch an apex. So it’s really kinda fine or “ok…..”
Cessnaporsche01@reddit
Yeah, I totally agree with "'ok...' for a track tire". It was the overheating thing that surprised me. Even on long sessions under summer heat, I haven't experienced them greasing up or wearing excessively. I wonder if they changed something in the transition to 4Ss that made them more prone to getting greasy than the SSs? Googling around I see the 4Ss being praised for heating up faster and having better cold traction.
withsexyresults@reddit
It’s been awhile since I used SS but felt that 4s has a much softer sidewall compared to SS. All that extra sidewall movement makes it hot and greasy after couple laps
Careless-Trick-5117@reddit
I love them, as someone who doesn’t track but loves spirited driving these tires are great, which is similar to what a lot of C8 owners like doing. I get it, it’s “only” a $500 extra option, but it’s still a bit strange when cars that are much cheaper and much slower will come on PS4S even as standard. I’m sure the all seasons are still great, though
Shomegrown@reddit
"Great" for the typical boomer waxer who buys a Corvette, and that's the important part here. I'd want the summers, you'd want the summers, but most Corvette guys don't. The stereotypes do come from somewhere, lol.
minemaster11@reddit
Agreed, PS4S is the GOAT street tire. Fine for novice HPDE. If you drive the car with any pace you’ll want to switch to 200TW
K-Rimes@reddit
All seasons are perfectly acceptable for the vast majority of buyers who drive them casually. Very few people actually test the limits of their sports cars, sadly.
Morbidly_Off_Piste@reddit
"Test the limits"?
The difference between all season tires and summer performance tires at safe, legal street speeds is enormous.
A driver who would be so oblivious to these differences should frankly not be buying performance cars at all. It's pretty embarrassing honestly.
K-Rimes@reddit
That's my point. A whole lot of sports car drivers, and hate to say it, but especially Corvette owners are not driving their car in a sports car manner at all. It is pretty embarrassing, honestly.
The_Exia@reddit
Its even more ridiculous that you need to pay $3500 just to get the Z06 brakes as well. That stuff came standard on the last GS. Now all you get is the widebody without the meat to back it up unless you spend more. I guess GM needs to make their money somewhere.
zhiryst@reddit
on the opposite end of the spectrum: I bought my Golf R in December and it came on summer tires to which I had to scramble and get some winter friendly tires ASAP and paying $1000+ instantly after buying a car is not a fun feeling. a $500ish fee to get the tires you actually want out the door (either way) is a worthwhile option I think.
MisterDoctor___@reddit
Most Corvette buyers will be fine with a set of Linglongs with the way they drive.
WarCrimeGaming@reddit
The AS4s are probably better because you can run them at lower temperatures too. You’re not supposed to drive the PS4s below 40 Fahrenheit
xlb250@reddit
On every car I’ve owned, going up in grip reduced the fun factor on the street.
Noobasdfjkl@reddit
Extra stupid that a better summer isn’t an option. PS4S isn’t an impressive tire in 2026.
Shomegrown@reddit
I think it's pretty stupid to assume most customers would want Pilot Sport 4S tires. Most buyers will be fine with/and want the A/S tire, and would see the PS4S as less desirable (tire wear, cold weather performance, etc). Those that don't can order the summer tire.
Jpotter145@reddit
I think it's very fair to say the vette has one of the largest populations of wannabe "racecar" drivers in the US, of which 99% of those will have never felt what it's like pushing the car to it's limits. Those people will complain when they find out they need different tires for winter, as well when they wear out in 20,000 miles (if that), and are loud.
It makes perfect sense to be an option, it would cost $1500 for a new set - so real drivers can opt for those performance tires and bonus to have Chevy subsidize that cost by the ones that for some reason want all seasons on a high performance sports car.
puregentleman1911@reddit
interior wise what comes with the base GS? I just need heated/cooled seats and the front lift and I'm all good!
Prudent-Dance5042@reddit
you need the 2LT/LZ (whatever they call it for the GS)
puregentleman1911@reddit
I’m hoping they are options on the base
Dramatic-Bottle2440@reddit
Hoping? They are not. It’s right in the specs
puregentleman1911@reddit
What specs? Where are you seeing this? What publication has this?
Dramatic-Bottle2440@reddit
Literally everywhere it’s a one LT2LT3LT it’s every single Corvette this way. You need two LT or three LT to get heated seats. There is no two LT on the ZR1 or ZR1x the only reason why you need this 3LZ.
puregentleman1911@reddit
Yeah but dammit I’m hopping it’s optional. I don’t need the entire 2LT package. For example that front lift is an option. I hope they would offer for a 1LT GS but probably not since the eRay was setup like this too smh.
Prudent-Dance5042@reddit
bro its not optional never has been lol
puregentleman1911@reddit
It’s an option for the middle package and up. Wished it would trickle down. Silly crap to make you option up
Prudent-Dance5042@reddit
still not an option, but ok
puregentleman1911@reddit
Man scroll up. I was talking about the the front lift!
RoyalISF@reddit
Great competitive pricing. Now we’ll have to see where the older base C8s land pricing wise
_imyour_dad@reddit
I think low-mid 40’s is rock bottom.
RAM_AIR_IV@reddit
I think we will see low 40s by the end of this year for the higher mile and low equipped cars, I can see them dropping into the 30s by like 2030
RoyalISF@reddit
I’d agree, was thinking that 45k would be a rough example
The_Exia@reddit
Also mentioned is that the 2027 Stingray costs 1k more than the 2026. Very marginal price increase to get the LS6 over the LT2.
RAM_AIR_IV@reddit
Plus the performance exhaust is now standard which used to be a $1200? option, so it is a fantastic deal
RAM_AIR_IV@reddit
Super competitive pricing, they must really want corvette sales to climb back up
GeneralMotorsLS3@reddit
They never stopped..the c8 is the best selling Corvette ever
RAM_AIR_IV@reddit
Salsa have fallen off since 2023
rootbeer123@reddit
Thin tortilla chips will do that
minemaster11@reddit
Very excited for this car and to see it’s lap times. Going to be a killer on the road course, no other car <100k comes close.
For that price, can’t help but feeling slight buyer’s regret on my C8Z. C8GS is a better all-around car and track value while maintaining the good looks of the widebody and center exhaust.
NotJoocey@reddit
Cmon man, z sounds infinitely better. Only mistake was buying new since used Z pricing is insane right now. Can snag a basically new z07 vert for less than the new GSX coupe.
EfficientTourist7480@reddit
You got that sweet sweet sounding flat plane crank
chargedcapacitor@reddit
Add a $20k pro charger and it'll beat the ZR1
5tudent_Loans@reddit
Just curious, who the target customer to be picking a GSX over a Z06
narwhal_breeder@reddit
The Z06 is the better car for what people think they will do with a Corvette.
The GSX is the better car for what people actually do with Corvettes.
bc10551@reddit
What if I just wanna hit the gas pedal and hear Ferrari noises
NotJoocey@reddit
Vroom vroom
xlb250@reddit
I feel like the Z06 engine would be better for putting around town
WorkerMotor9174@reddit
The LT6 Makes a good deal less torque & does so much higher in the rev range. Plus the standard suspension setup will likely be softer/more compliant than even the non Z07 Z06s.
blue_bomber697@reddit
I owned a Z06 for a while. I will absolutely back that up. The Grandsport X is the better car for daily driving. The Z06 is a more emotional car. Purely by sound. Otherwise, the GSX will be superior in every other way basically.
phr3dly@reddit
I picked a 26 ERay over a Z06 with no regrets. I testdrove a Z06 and it's a great car, no doubt, but felt frenetic. For a car that I want to drive often, the ERay is a better option (for me).
If I were getting a car purely for track or for weekend joyrides, I might have been tempted by the Z.
The_Exia@reddit
The same people who want a 911 Turbo instead of a GT3. One is more street car, the other is more track.
WarCrimeGaming@reddit
The GSX is more practical for daily driving purposes, if you do that.
saagri@reddit
I got a 24' Eray because I wanted the AWD for better stability/traction as I daily mine. Plus the Eray is technically quicker until you get past most speed limits.
While fake, I like the noises it makes for feedback on the electric motor.
The Z06 sounds way better which is my only regret. But it has worse fuel economy and with the same size gas tank across the line it would have noticeably less range. Especially for me since I do mixed city/highway driving.
The 2 electric drive modes are also interesting if a bit gimmicky. The problem is there is a minimum temperature limit of 50F and a speed/torque limit.
The_Flying_Sausage@reddit
Somebody that likes the way a large V8 with a ton of torque drives. Add in the front electric motor and it’s an AWD Corvette with traction in nearly any condition. C8 Z06 is a great car, but some people just love low end torque. The Eray/GSX are great real-world street cars.
minemaster11@reddit
People who want an American GT-R or drag racers perhaps
theDartVader@reddit
Is there something more fun for this money?
spiketeam@reddit
Man that’s an amazing value. For the price of a cayman s you’re getting 911 s performance.
stoned-autistic-dude@reddit
They don’t sell the Cayman anymore AFAIK so it’s one of the best deals you can get.
cltnthecultist@reddit
They don’t sell the best car they make anymore? What happened?
BWFTW@reddit
They cancelled it for an ev successor. Then saw how bad their ev sales are and got cold feet. Now they are panick making a new gen (983?) by trying to cut up the ev chassis and make it work with a gas motor. I'm not optimistic. The 718 family has always been super light weight. I haven't seen a single ev + petrol chassis that wasn't a pig.
KellerMB@reddit
It was taking too many 911 sales.
hachi2JZ@reddit
new gen's on the way
DriveRightCarBuying@reddit
I would not be surprised if the Grand Sport is competitive against the 992 GT3 on most tracks.
Mufasa_LG@reddit
I just wish they would revise the rear end already. I'm fine with almost everything else about this generation, but the rear is the one thing that just won't grow on me.
Sohcahtoa82@reddit
I'm the exact opposite. I didn't care for the rear end of any Corvette until the C7, and the C8 is the best.
chargedcapacitor@reddit
I'm the opposite. I love the back half of the wide body C8, but the front end looks like it has chubby cheeks. I just can't unsee it.
4r4r4real@reddit
That's a great price point
mellofello808@reddit
Biggest competition is lightly used z06, which can be had for around the same price as the GSX.
In 5-10 years these will probably have depriciated slightly more than the Z06, and will be incredible deals.
vaultdweller1223@reddit
I haven't seen a GSX on the road in a long, long time.
caterham09@reddit
As it was in the last Gen, the grand sport seems to be the goldilocks spec corvette.
The lt4 in the C7Z was too much power, but it was hard to deny the wide body version wasn't just so much cooler.
With the C8, the Lt6 is super hard to compete with, but the new Ls6 should be extremely cool in its own right. It sounds like they tuned the exhaust very particularly for sound out of this car, and with 6.7l of displacement to work with, I'm hoping it has the baritone sound to contrast the tenor of the LT6
HiIary4Prison@reddit
100% agreed. I had a C7 GS and a C7 Z06. The GS had the perfect amount of power for the chassis and it felt incredible. The Z would just constantly spin the tires.
I just got rid of my C8 Stingray and I’m currently contemplating sending a deposit to my dealer to get on the Grand Sport list. I hated so many things about the Stingray coming from the C7 platform. The sound, power, steering feel, etc. was all hot garbage. My Escalade V to me was more enjoyable to drive than the Stingray.
rustedplastics@reddit
The chassis on the c8 can handle way more power and the z06 really doesn't feel like too much. Seems like the main thing the grand sport fixes on the c8 will be the looks, especially if you get the track pack for the center exhaust.
JonFrost@reddit
Wow didn't expect to hear that 🤔
willpc14@reddit
The base C8 got some rather lukewarm reviews in terms of driving dynamics since it seems to have been set up as more of a GT car than a purebred sports car.
aponderingpanda@reddit
It's his own opinion but I disagree. C7Z has the perfect amount of power if you've got the right tire for it. No C8 for me but the C7Z is way more fun to actually drive than the Escalade V.
HiIary4Prison@reddit
I daily drove my C7Z and it had way too much power. I had much more confidence in the GS. Also, I meant to say my Escalade V is more fun to drive than my old C8 Stingray. To make matters worse, I waited 4 years in Canada from deposit to delivery for the C8.
BlackZeppelin@reddit
For the record you’re saying the C7 Stingray was ass?
Would you mind elaborating? Most things I hear are all positive about it
The_Exia@reddit
He's saying the C8 Stingray is worse than the C7 as a drivers car not a C7 Stingray.
BlackZeppelin@reddit
Ah got it
ZannX@reddit
I'm not sure the LT6 has any downsides besides the engine costing a lot more to replace. The Grandsport will have similar consumable cost on track and the LT6 doesn't have the same cooling issues that the C7 Z06 had. That's why the C7 GS was such a goldilocks car.
caterham09@reddit
The downside of the lt6 that I've heard from a lot of owners is that it's again, too powerful. The 8600rpm redline loses luster when you consider getting to it means doing arrestable speeds. Great for track, but as a street car it's too fast
R_V_Z@reddit
I wonder if anybody could tune in a "low power mode" toggle.
The_Exia@reddit
This was my issue with it, I was doing really dumb speeds in it just to have fun because it needs to be revved out and made almost 700hp. On a track its great and I know myself and a few others had chances to drive them on track before purchasing which made us really want one only to come to the realization after its to much car for the street.
ZannX@reddit
I always viewed Z06 and GS as track oriented, period. Otherwise, aside from 'power' - it's too much track everything else (brakes, wheels, tires, etc.), might as well get the Stingray.
taticalgoose@reddit
That's a gearing issue more than anything.
DanielG165@reddit
Yeah, I haven’t seen nor heard many downsides with the LT6. People will quote “lack of torque”, but that’s literally just the nature of an N/A FPC engine; you have to rev it out.
clauderbaugh@reddit
Seriously, for that money X gonna give it to ya!
bush_killed_epstein@reddit
GM NEEDS to make an (incredibly cheesy but IMO, awesome) ad for the corvette using this. Forgive the silly writing exercise but imagine this:
We start with a black screen that fades into wide angle footage from a first person video drone as it closely follows a C8 from above. It’s ripping through corners on a track. All you can hear is some quiet white noise with a slight high frequency ringing.
We start to hear muffled engine noise that gets louder and louder. It cuts to a fixed camera on the track capturing a slight drift through a tight corner. We cut again to an overhead fixed camera that shows the final stretch of road and the finish line. The C8 barrels into view, and before it passes the finish line the audio cuts completely. Then, as the car drives away out of frame after crossing the finish line, the portion of the song plays - “Fuck what you heard, it’s what you hearin’”
Cut again to footage of the C8 on a scenic mountain road as the chorus starts and “X gon give it to ya” plays, combined with engine noise. screen cuts to black with text saying “X GON GIVE IT TO YA” and a small corvette logo at the bottom. The end. lol
wh1pp3d@reddit
OK this is weird, reading the first part of that is almost exactly how I had dreamed up a pretend Firebird revival. Starts from very high up, regular black Camaro (I know, not a trans-am, but why not). You faintly hear the engine but you also hear wings flapping. BIG wings. The view descends, engine a bit louder, making some corners. Then on the straight the POV backs up a bit and shows the bird, a golden phoenix like firebird, dive right into the hood of the Camaro. It is absorbed, and slowly the legacy firebird hood decal forms, as if burning into shape. At the same time the engine sound intensifies, sounding deeper and meaner, and the car ascends to another level.
guisar@reddit
From behind, a stunningly beautiful woman walks up to a C8 matching her dress and gets in. Cut to exhaust, cut to mirror reflecting woman's hair swish back and cut to exhaust accellerating by. Appeal to people who would never consider a corvette.

Cool car but for the $ I’d take the CT5-V BW any day over this. These will depreciate rapidly just like every other Grand Sport ever made. These really only exist so boomers can stand around parking lots in jean shorts talking about how “rare” their mass-produced Corvette is.
kon---@reddit
So, all fun to drive cars should only be in the hands of drivers 34 years of age or younger and what, once you reach your late 30s you're headed to a Buick dealership to spend your final decades getting around in a casual crossover commuter car?
Also, just how long should a Boomer hold onto a great car? Till they die or you know, move the car to the market then get the next ride that stirs their heart?
Seriously, I genuinely hope you live long enough to go through several stages of life buying cycles and enjoy as many cars as you can along the way.
JackTwoGuns@reddit
Very different cars.
Many would rather have a mid engine 2 seater over a compact sedan.
I say that as a big sport sedan guy but the corvette is a way cooler sports car
minemaster11@reddit
Yes they drive very differently and have far different characters. C8Z gets way more attention, 5BW is a huge sleeper.
Source: have both
JEs4@reddit
Numbers and everything aside, which do you enjoy driving on a spirited drive more?
minemaster11@reddit
No direct comparison yet, 500 miles on the C8Z vs 14k on the Blackwing.
I’m leaning C8Z. Just has that special sports car feeling and the highly strung engine. It’s fun to rip around in the Blackwing and the stick is great, you feel the weight and body roll on backroads though.
DodgerBlueRobert1@reddit
CT5 isn't a compact sedan. It's midsize. But yeah, two completely different types of cars. Personally, I'd rather have the CT5-V BW, as I'm a sports sedan guy myself.
Witherino@reddit
This hasn't been the case for the other C8s, so why would it be the case here?
