Are the pics of the car real designs or just random people making up bs?
mailer__daemon@reddit
Those 'photos' in the article are not real and are just some random artists renderings.
Malbjey@reddit
Hopefully its a 2 door, but I keep seeing rumors of it being 4 door only. I'm fine with both being an option.
I only have a couple requests for the car, which I think are reasonable:
1) Improve the visibility. The beltline made you feel like you were driving a tank. The side windows and windshield need to be taller. This is the #1 reason why the car sold poorly versus the competition. You can't read one Camaro review without the mention of the poor visibility.
2) Improve the trunk opening, or give the car a liftback. A liftback is a big ask, but at the very least improve the opening of the trunk so you can fit bigger luggage, boxes, etc. The 6th gen's trunk opening is HORRIBLE, even if the depth of the trunk isn't too bad (for a sports car). Personally I want a liftback more than anything.
3) Offer the cheaper LT1 entry model V8 trim from the start. The 6th gen launch with the SS1 and SS2 models for the V8 cars and they had cost thousands more than the entry V8s from Dodge and Ford. The SS1/SS2 also had extra cooling and bigger brakes which are great for those who track the car but useless for street, autocross and drag strip. The cheaper LT1 model didn't come around until year 2020, years after the 6th gen launched. But Chevy fucked up the LT1 by not offering optional creature comforts like heated/cooled seats or blind spot monitoring. You had to jump to an SS2 mode for that which was a BIG price jump. The I4 and V6 Camaro had nowhere near a price jump when you wanted to add those features.
Chevy made a great performance car with the 6th gen, but it was a terrible coupe even by sports car standards. I hope they have learned their lesson with the 7th gen
Von_Jelway@reddit
I test drove a Camaro and the lack of visibility felt genuinely dangerous.
Zimmer_DillyDilly@reddit
Camaro SS 1LE owner. Visibility is relatively bad. It's perfectly safe and you get used to it. Maybe you actually test drove one, maybe you didnt. The r/carss visibility perception is overdramatic, bordering ridiculous.
Also FWIW I have no affinity nor loyalty to Chevy and bought it because it's the best performance car for the money. Was nervous about visibility. After a day realized it's overblown.
4r4r4real@reddit
I daily drove one for 2 years and find this kind of comment beyond goofy, literally wasn't an issue whatsoever for me.
3klipse@reddit
It's such a reddit ass take it's hilarious. I mean it has its issues but it isn't totally blinding and super dangerous.
bc10551@reddit
I'm curious what you think about the Emira blind spots because it's genuinely dangerous without wide-angle mirrors
3klipse@reddit
I think I've seen one in person while driving; not gotten close enough to walk around or sit in one. I cannot make any kind of accurate assumption about their blindspots.
funked1@reddit
Yeah it’s wild. The only visibility issues I had were in front of the car.
4r4r4real@reddit
It's hard to place your front wheels wrt curbs. Only issue I had. "genuinely dangerous" is a joke.
Charles0nline@reddit
I daily drive my Camaro just fine but, redditors who’ve never driven my car or lived with it tell me it’s impossible and I’m wrong. I don’t disagree the Mustang or challenger have better visibility or better ergonomics but I do disagree that they are dramatically easier to live with than the Camaro.
Domojin@reddit
Right? To each their own, I guess. They definitely have some big blind spots, but I've been driving a Camaro since 2012 and the number of times I've almost merged into someone I didn't see was once, and it was a motorcycle that wasn't obeying traffic laws. Maybe learn to pay attention while driving? lol.
caterham09@reddit
I went from a 5th Gen camaro to a s550 mustang after someone ran a red light and totaled my camaro. Visibility is such a problem with that car. Many owners will tell you it's not that bad, or you get used to it, but it's an active detriment. The number of times I merged right in front of someone I had no way to see was frightening.
Not only that but the door line is so high that drive through atms were impossible to use. I'm a tall person (6'1") and I couldn't get my arms over and out of the window in a use able way.
After driving the mustang, I wouldn't even entertain the idea of going back to another camaro.
Outlaw012Asterix@reddit
A lift back and a sleeker design would do wonders for my enthusiasm
kilertree@reddit
It's going to be crazy if it gets the 6.7 Liter engine. I think Ford would have to use a 5.4 liter coyote to answer to it.

LionTigerWings@reddit
I wonder if there’s any chance they’ll try to follow in BMWs footsteps with an ice and ev shared platform. They seem to be the only manufacturer who made a combo platform that doesn’t feel compromised for both (see dodge).
GymLeaderMatt@reddit
If they can take what they’ve learned from the E-Ray, I can see it actually working well. I’d prefer a dedicated hybrid model over a separate ICE and EV.
Domojin@reddit
/agree that Chevy seems to be doing some really interesting things right now with performance focused hybrids. Would be great to see that in a Camaro or something you could potentially get into for <$50k.
GymLeaderMatt@reddit
Do yourself a solid and watch some vids on the Lexus AE86 BEV concept. I know, not a hybrid, but genuinely it’s the coolest idea for a driver focused EV.
NathenJee@reddit
If it doesn't have a low roof again. Then yeah maybe worth waiting for.
Syncrion@reddit
How can we know if it's worth waiting for when we literally know nothing other than it's going to be on a RWD platform? Don't even know if it's going to be called a Camaro. It's all speculation
4r4r4real@reddit
GMAuthority has been slowly releasing details. From what they've said so far, front engine RWD 4 door on the Alpha 2+2 platform with an ICE powerplant that may or may not get the Camaro name.
koopa00@reddit
They aren't a reliable source. They've been wrong countless times over the years.
Any_Sale2030@reddit
It’s not an official GM source either. From their website
GM Authority is not owned, operated, supported, or otherwise condoned by General Motors, its brands, subsidiaries, or partners.
RIP_Soulja_Slim@reddit
You’re right, but this is also the sort of information that’s just so obvious it’s not even worth reporting. I don’t think anyone thought GM would seriously make the next gen Camaro something other than a direct competitor to the mustang. So rear drive, v8, ICE is all pretty obvious.
4r4r4real@reddit
I mean they reported specific production dates, what factory it will be built in, etc. Yeah if you ignore the half of their reporting that you can't intuit then it's pointless.
Lucreth2@reddit
The big question is and has always been whether it's 2 or 4 doors which also leads to whether it's going to be called Camaro or not.
There was a leaker here on Reddit with some very detailed information that said the 4 door is confirmed but might not be called Camaro and a 2 door is up in the air.
That matches exactly with what GM authority is saying.
It also matches well with what you'd expect Penny pinching GM to do as far as badge engineering goes.
While there are executives that like the Camaro for what it is it's no secret that it was smothered in its sleep first with that awful styling refresh and then by their refusal to build SS and ZL1 trims sufficient to fill even half of customer orders, instead building a ton of stripped out half as LT1 trims that they only even made because of COVID parts shortages.
I don't see bean counters allowing a 2 door to be made unless there's also demand in China for a Buick version.
RIP_Soulja_Slim@reddit
I just don't understand this at all, cars like this sell very well. BMW 4 series are flying off the showroom floors, the Mustang moves about 50k units a year, challengers were selling in droves, etc. Every iteration of these cars moves very well. GM just made the Camaro (especially in base trims) the most mediocre option. There's easily demand, they just need to stop making a car full of plastic that you can't see out of lol.
peakdecline@reddit
Eh. GM Authority is fairly accurate frankly. Sure they're not 100% but there's never been a "rumor" source that's ever been 100%.
penis-tango-man@reddit
PLEASE GM offer it with a manual
West-Knowledge-1660@reddit
And with a supercharger.
4r4r4real@reddit
LS6 and Tremec would be super enticing but if it's a 4 door I'm out
Vhozite@reddit
I’d buy a 4 door Camaro but are we even sure the 4 door is the Camaro and not some other vehicle like a Buick or Caddy?
Syncrion@reddit
We don't know anything, that's the issue. Could be two door, could be 4 door.
All we know is that a supplier is quoting parts for a Chevy and a Buick for the alpha platform for the plant that so far is only slated for the CT5 after this year.
Syncrion@reddit
GMAuthority can be hit or miss, they are fast to publish but don't always get it right. But you have the gist of it, ICE and on the Alpha platform.
Unfortunately we probably aren't going to see anything from GM official until sometime next year as they need to finish out the current model year and probably go through a length retooling. So probably 28 model year at the earliest?
caterham09@reddit
Yeah we don't know much. We can make some assumptions. But we won't know how real they are for at least a year.
I will say though if they bring it back, with a solid 6 speed transmission, the new ls6 engine and proper visibility, I'm ordering one brand new. I've been saving for a fun 2nd car for a while now and have been going back and forth between various used options.
This would fit every single criteria I want if it's not a complete tank to drive.
nujabes02@reddit
Brand new it’ll prob be $50k at that point I’m close to c8 territory
Bassracerx@reddit
Camaro ss has always been extremly close in price to base model corvette.
caterham09@reddit
I figured the base v8 version would likely start in the mid 40s to match the mustang.
Personally I'd be OK with paying 60k for one that had all the bells and whistles in the exact spec I wanted. That would still be 10k less than the base corvette
RIP_Soulja_Slim@reddit
The Supra is gone and the Z is really a 45k pretending to MSRP at 60.
But to that point, I don’t think GM has any trouble selling a proper Camaro ss at that price point. It’s just what things cost now.
nujabes02@reddit
60k😮💨
Honestly buying a new car is something don’t plan on doing but I def would get a black wing if I could lol 😆
JEs4@reddit
I keep thinking how great a Camaro could be with the LS6 that I completely forgot about a potential Z/28 with the LT6. That would be a special car.
caterham09@reddit
I think realistically both versions would be instant classics (assuming they exist of course).
The ls6 we still need to know more about, but the sheer displacement and torque curve would be really fun with a 6 speed. It also is probably going to sound incredible.
The Lt6 is too special to not lust after though in a slightly more affordable platform with a possible manual. I think personally it probably has just too much power to be very fun for daily driving, but the allure of that 8500rpm redline and the noise is hard to ignore.
Hnry_Dvd_Thr_Awy@reddit
I had a 4100lb CT5BW with the 6 speed and it was too fast for me. I’d be all in on a naturally aspirated version.
DefinitelyNotAxlerod@reddit
Monte Carlo comeback???
Seeker80@reddit
A Monte Carlo on the old Zeta platform wouldn't be the worst idea in the world. Especially after the Camaro got smaller on the Alpha platform, and the C8 went mid-engined.
Some folks will still want an FR with more room inside. The Zeta can use an updated interior and a new skin. Give the Monte Carlo the V8s, and spin off the platform into a new Buick Riviera with the turbo V6 engines. Both could use the 2.7T as a base engine, or the 2.0T if they think it's enough.
NightFuryToni@reddit
Or just use VSS-R, the CT6 is already on it. Basically a stretched Alpha.
ry1701@reddit
The funny thing is even tho it got smaller, Alpha had way more headroom.
However, zeta was built like a brick.
Seeker80@reddit
The Zeta might have more elbow room on the inside. Maybe the back seat too. There's also a lot to be said for the illusion of having more room.
It should be appreciated by those old guys who miss their FR Corvettes. I nicknamed them the 'Joe Bidens,' since he's got a C2. My boss is 60s, on the other end of the spectrum and has a C3, so it's not a political thing. Just an 'old guy' thing.
MotorcycleCar@reddit
I'll always think Monte Carlo belongs on a fwd platform as it was for the last 12 years of its nameplate usage.
GoWithTheFlow___@reddit
That’s disgusting
RIP_Soulja_Slim@reddit
Yeah GM, do something for the real enthusiasts! Bring back the transverse mounted small block V8 Monte Carlo SS. It’s what the people want lmao

sire_blumpkin@reddit
Chevy can take all of my money if this comes with a manual, better ergonomics vs the last gen, and a semi-usable back seat. The previous gen was SO good as being a near perfect driving experience but the opposite as something to live with.
cubs223425@reddit
The US Constitution forbids making the Camaro in this manner
MembershipNo2077@reddit
What do you need it for? If I'm buying a camaro it's to peacock, tear up autocross/track, and drive off a mountain; not cart more people in the back seat to go with me off said mountain.
cubs223425@reddit
Then you're not relevant to OP's request of a more usable back seat.
MembershipNo2077@reddit
Exactly, we're at odds. Considering GM's predilections, he'll be lucky to have ANY back seat.
Vhozite@reddit
I’d take the same unusable back seat if they were somehow able to make it a liftback
Brickhead745@reddit
Meh. AI / illustration does nothing.
NC-Jeep@reddit
Looks like a mustang
Impossible_Sundae304@reddit
As a long time mustang fan great. Instead of a v6 they should make a inline 6 and keep the v8.
Haunting_Bit_3613@reddit
It's going to be a four door and they probably aren't going to use the Camaro nameplate for great of backlash from the diehards according to an article I read.
West-Knowledge-1660@reddit
Just call it a SS :-)
Ill-Train6478@reddit
Goddammit please offer a manual option unlike corvettes which is a huge mistake. Make it desirable inside and out.
tykempster@reddit
Super sweet battle tank visibility it appears!
burger_saga@reddit
I’m more curious about the alleged new Buick sedan.
imped4now@reddit
This looks and sounds too good to be true.
cubs223425@reddit
Sorry, the last decade of GM's decision have turned me off from their lineup. They made it loud and clear that I am not the target demographic for GM, so I've taken the message and will buy elsewhere.
Aurorian_CAN@reddit
I wish Pontiac stayed and not Boomer Buick.
funked1@reddit
I am rock hard right now.
Dnlx5@reddit
Those windows look awfully small...
AndreLeGeant88@reddit
Just give me the interior dimensions on my M240, a hatchback, and the LS6. Will buy day 1
KSoMA@reddit
F22 or G42? The rear headroom in the latter is really rough even for a coupe, though I've heard the older car was better.
AndreLeGeant88@reddit
The G42 works ok with a kid and I could theoretically sit in the back. Trunk is solid. Like, it works practically while being sportier than I found the F22 chassis to be. The Camaro, he couldn't even see out of

KSoMA@reddit
Any idea why this would be Alpha II and not VSS-R like the new CT6?
yobo9193@reddit
I enjoy these articles when C/D has some insider knowledge that they share, but this is them just spitballing.
KSoMA@reddit
It's kinda surprising to me how little is known about the Alpha II cars given the new Charger has been largely leaked and public knowledge for like 10 years at this point.
V8-Turbo-Hybrid@reddit
C&D and their R&T are now making some bite click articles in recent. They’re still better Carscoop and Motor1 but still unacceptable.
KyledKat@reddit
Another nothingburger speculation article about the Camaro's return. I highly doubt GM would revise the Alpha II chassis for 3 low-volume vehicles.
caterham09@reddit
It sounds like that's actually exactly what they are doing though.
What we don't know is what form those cars would actually take.
AndreLeGeant88@reddit
My assumption is that they will have the same frame lengths (as opposed to CT5 being stretched), with Cadillac getting a more premium CT5, Buick offering the comfort semi-luxury option, and then Camaro. The other possibility is a RWD Impala I guess
V8-Turbo-Hybrid@reddit
Their supply chains have received GM requirement of new 3 Alpha II models, it’s clearly no doubt there.
Drew_Snydermann@reddit
Bring back Chevelle as a complete range of models, including SS 454.
ikilledtupac@reddit
…I don’t hate it.
costafilh0@reddit
2028? Good. So there is a chance it is not a hybrid.
BaronSS3600@reddit
While I'd love to see a 7th gen Camaro, the site that broke the news that these articles are basing their speculation on has also reported this could simply be a "Camaro replacement".
https://gmauthority.com/blog/2026/04/chevy-camaro-replacement-body-style-everything-we-know-so-far/
NotRustyShackleford_@reddit
Drive whatever you want. It’ll be 3 years before anyone drives this thing.
hundredjono@reddit
I kinda wish it looked like that in the thumbnail instead of it being an artist’s rendition
TooMuchPJ@reddit
It has Supra vibes.
schpeeg@reddit
the Camaro is dead. long live the Camaro!
lu5ty@reddit
Its a parody at this point. 40 years of this shit lol
RIP_Soulja_Slim@reddit
We're not even 20 years removed from the last "the Camaro is gone indefinitely" moment lol.
I think GM design just keeps being lazy and doesn't have a replacement ready so they pull this stunt every few model iterations.
Wizard-In-Disguise@reddit
I saw this car in the 2007 movie Transformers, I think it's the same car still.
randeus@reddit
I seriously hope GM drops something with 4 doors with a v8. There needs to be something like that without spending nearly or over 6 figures, especially in a car with the godly Alpha chassis.
koopa00@reddit
Obviously they didn't reveal anything here, but it being on the Alpha 2 platform basically guarantees it will be yet another great performance car. The real question is whether they fixed the packaging issues or not.
I'm very excited for the Camaro to come back again, since the introduction of the C8 I don't think there's ever been a time where having both the Camaro and Corvette under the same umbrella made more sense. But I think I'm more interested in what a Buick RWD sedan on this platform could be. Is it just going to replace the CT4 minus a performance trim? Or will they have a performance trim with a TTV6? I doubt they'd put a V8 in it. I wouldn't be shocked if they just slapped a Buick logo on the current CT4 lineup and called it a day.
TheMaddSage@reddit
That’s what I’m thinking too. Buick will just get the CT4 rebadged. I think the Camaro will come back most likely as a 2 door with a V8 because it will leave GM with 4 different performance options that won’t cannibalize eachother.
Luxury performance sedan with SC V8 in a Cadillac, a V6tt Performance sedan flagship for Buick, a 2 door 4 seated Camaro as the entry level sports coupe, and finally a Midship sports/super car in the Corvette.
5tudent_Loans@reddit
If it doesnt come back with a hybrid V8 on the ZR1 and SS, 85, itll just have poor sales and die off again. No one is going to compromise all the flaws of the typical camaro AND have an unreliable V8 (looking at you L87)
Darthdickingson@reddit
ALL I EVER WANTED WAS A BLACK GRAND NATIONAL
That_Trapper_guy@reddit
What's the market for this? The same people who couldn't afford the last Camaro?
PinkishOcean430@reddit
Give it enough track focused/go fast parts and it has a better market than it used to with the Vette being mid engine auto only now. Given the price point and features the mustangs get...there are sales and money to be made.
Motorcruft@reddit
Give it a ute bed and call it El Camaro and I’m in 😎
clock_divider@reddit
The magic formula for me is 2 door, manual and same weight as last gen. (Less would be awesome but that’s not going to happen).
I don’t require visibility changes personally but sure take that too.
imightgetdownvoted@reddit
Man I was excited for about 2 seconds until I realized it was just an artists rendering. No way Chevy makes anything that looks that good.
AndreLeGeant88@reddit
That's basically just the last gen Camaro
imightgetdownvoted@reddit
I think you might want to consult an optometrist
AndreLeGeant88@reddit
The door panel lines are a bit different, the front end is basically unchanged except minor differences in the grill, and the hood looks slightly lower. Otherwise, same. The image isn't even consistent with the rumored hatch/liftback discussed in the article
imightgetdownvoted@reddit
Of course I see the resemblance, but this is FAR more sculpted and European looking. Especially from the rear 3/4 view.
Looks like a Camaro, an F-type and Supra had a 3 way.
DanielG165@reddit
We don’t even know if it’ll be called ‘Camaro’ yet, though.
Emotional_Signal7883@reddit
Camaro IROC-E
avoy93@reddit
Would love them to correct all the wrongs with the last generation because otherwise it was a great car. Mustang desperately needs good competition
cpttucker126@reddit
I've seen a lot about a car that we haven't even seen anything of.
