Subway used to serve Hamburgers

This was very specific “ only participating stores apply” and they served 2 boiled ( yes, boiled, like hotdogs) patties and whatever you wanted.
I know that sounds gross and I may be in the minority, but that was one of my fav Subway sandwich, and honestly one of the best burgers. Anyone member this? Very 90s thing.

Don’t remember that. For me, Subway kinda died when they stopped doing that U gouge fit or whatever it was to take the top off the sub.
perpetualmotionmachi@reddit
It was called the V-cut. Also does when they got rid of the 4" deli round sandwiches. And the stamp card
Skoteleven@reddit
I do not remember hamburgers, but I do remember "Kickin' Chicken", The chicken Cesar salad sandwich.
Subway should bring that back.
Blackbird136@reddit
No and I ate a ton of Subway in the 90s.
I remember McDonalds pizza though!
jjmawaken@reddit
Subway used to do pizza too (it wasn't very good though)
Slippery-Pete76@reddit
I kind of liked their pizza…..
jjmawaken@reddit
I only had it once ... could have been our location but it was kind of half burnt and half undercooked at the same time

Fun fact: When Subway first started it was called Pete’s Submarines, but on radio ads that often sounded like “Pizza Marines” so people were confused and thought it was a pizza place.

Ours did not have hamburgers, but it did have a drive-thru.

I worked at a Subway where we had hamburger sized sausage patties we served on the 4-inch round buns as “sausage and biscuits” for breakfast.
toastbot@reddit
Are you talking about steamed hams? They only had those at Subways around Albany, NY.
throwawayhbgtop81@reddit
Served with their aurora borealis sauce. It's very localized
Derrick_Mur@reddit
Can I see it?
throwawayhbgtop81@reddit
Not the right time of year.
JFiveIsAlive@reddit
Well, I'm from Utica and I've never heard of such a thing.

No they were def. burger patties… only lasted few years I think…

I don’t remember this, but I do remember that Hardee’s/Carl’s Jr. used to serve fried chicken and roast beef sandwiches.
Derrick_Mur@reddit
I loved Hardees fried chicken back in the day. It was our family’s go to dish for church potlucks
Hi-Scan-Pro@reddit
I worked at Hardee's in high school. At the time they had fried chicken, roast beef, ham, the toppings bar, and you could still smoke inside.
nampezdel@reddit
Were they still using lard/shortening in the fryers too?
Hi-Scan-Pro@reddit
Yeah. Putting new "grease" in the fryer meant dumping a giant block of white paste in there and letting it melt. It was mesmerizing. Young stoner me stared at it way too long.
CuriousRiver2558@reddit
And peach cobbler! 😋

Never saw one that served a burger, but does anybody else remember the pizza sub? Was basically a meatball sub with pepperoni instead of the meatballs. It was on the menu around 1988 or so.
gigglesann@reddit
I don’t remember the burger but, I worked at a Walmart that had a subway and I remember when they had their breakfast. Not sure if that was everywhere? But they had different eggs options and a biscuit and gravy that was pretty cheap and tasty. Was in the mid 2000s in Iowa.

I remember BK tried tacos for awhile. I think they just chopped up leftover whoppers. They were gross.
ohio2az@reddit
With half an American cheese slice!

Ah. A felllow man of culture I see!
FiveCrappedPee@reddit
Im from Chicago but lived in texas for a couple years in the early 2000s and I fell in love with Jack in the box tacos. We don't have Jack in the box here but god damn I miss those motherfuckers they were like fifty cents each and I could put down eight of them easily. Now I want tacos.
cheffartsonurfood@reddit
Oh hells yeah. I'm from South Bend. I lived in the Carolinas for about 12 years though. Jack in the Box rules!
heresmytwopence@reddit
I worked across from a Subway at a mall and ate way too many of those rib-b-cue subs they had at the time.
HillBillyMadman@reddit
Did they?
I've never actually eaten at any Subway. I was inside a location once, with friends. But I wasn't hungry.
JamesMattDillon@reddit
Might just have been your franchise. It wasn't never around here
VinylHighway@reddit
Apparently these were just test foods
fromthedarqwaves@reddit
Nope don’t remember that. They had a veggie patty which was like a veggie burger shaped for their regular bread. I used to order those all the time. Some locations had pizza which I never tried.
