Resume question

Two years ago I took a job that I only stayed for about 2 months before returning to my previous employer. Should I include the hiatus on my resume? Is it a bad look to have it or worse to not?

People here are on FMLA leave for more time than that. Just omit the 2 months.

If there are more jobs to list then sure - skip it. If it’s this 2 month job or no jobs listed then you need to keep it.

I think the biggest thing that people fail to realize is your resume needs to HIGHLIGHT your most RECENT, RELEVANT job experience. A 2-month gig isn't something to waste a quarter page of space on unless it was something relevant.
Leave it off.

Did you do anything really impressive in those 2 months? If you didn't I'd leave it off.

I managed to piss off a lot of people. Burned a bridge or two.

I left my IT role in January 2023 but returned to the same company in August 2023 in a higher-level position. If asked, I typically state that I left the role and was later promoted to a higher position within the company.

Your resume needs to be 100% factual, and in fact it should highlight all your worst qualities, issues and errors.

This is entirely going to depend on if a potential employer is going to actually call to verify employment dates.
Personally, I'd leave that two month job off. I've done similar before and it's never been an issue for me.

Thank you!

I wouldn't. Two months won't mean anything, it's just a small gap while you explored opportunities.
Commercial_Growth343@reddit
I would not. You can easily mask over that in your resume just using years. Unless you are contactor I would not put actual dates or even months in your employement history, just the year.
illicITparameters@reddit
Nope, leave it off.
tarvijron@reddit
I don’t report anything under a year in general unless you’ve got some keyword/experience you want to highlight
