Looking to build my first pc. Budget - $1850

Hey everybody, I’m currently a college student in the US looking to build my first gaming pc to convert from console. I have a pretty hard budget cap of $1850, and I’d like to build something that can run AAA story games, competitive online games, and even my schoolwork from time to time (nothing more intensive than a few excel spreadsheets). Aside from the pc parts themselves, I also need a monitor. As mentioned I would like to play online multiplayer, so I’m looking for something 27”, 1440p, 144Hz +. Thanks for the help in advance, and I’d be more than happy to answer any questions.

Do you need ALL peripherals including the mouse and keyboard? Is that a part of your budget?

Just the monitor, I already have a mouse and keyboard I plan on using, sorry if that wasn’t clear.

Are you near a Microcenter?

The nearest location to me is approximately 3 hours away so it would probably not be feasible.

Alright cool. I think this build is what you’re looking for. This gets you 32gb of RAM, future upgradablity on the AM5 platform, high/ultra performance at 1440p, and a 180hz monitor. You’ll be able to do it all with this.

This looks perfect, thanks a lot! One quick question if you don’t mind me asking. The other part list on the thread was nearly identical with the difference of losing 16 gb of RAM in favor of the 9070 XT over the 9070. Would this be a worthy trade off?
Urdnot_Flexx@reddit
No. The 9070XT is about 12% more powerful than the 9070 and $100 more expensive with the same architecture, same access to FSR4, and same VRAM. At its MSRP of $600, the 9070XT was the best value gaming GPU of this release generation, but at a current $100 premium it’s just not worth sacrificing an all around more balanced system for it. I’d take the extra 16gb of RAM.

Thanks for the feedback, I think I will end up going for the extra 16gb of RAM. You’ve been very helpful, I greatly appreciate the breakdown and guidance!

Can definitely find a cheaper kit of 32gb ram on eBay for around $320 from a reputable seller, and if you want to rather invest that saved money into a 2tb ssd or a 9070xt you’d be free to do that as well.

Thanks! Some great picks right around the range I was looking for.
