If you only had to go with one of these cars for life, what would it be?

Toyota Prius, lacking performance, but lower on fuel and insurance, reliable
Audi R8, V10 engine performance, lack of space inside compared to the Prius, and a little higher on fuel and insurance
Viking2151@reddit
I got for reliability over performance so yeah.
s_nz@reddit
Prius for sure.
I have a wife and child, A two seater isn't going to cut it.
I don't want to carry the running costs of an R8.
Much more likely that the Prius will still be in good running condition in 30 years time. Sold a Lexus RX400h late last year, at 20 years old. Would expect that to see another decade of use.

The cost/mile for something like an Audi is insane.
Wolf_Ape@reddit
It better be free if I’m forced to drive it for life. The gas and insurance is no big deal if the car is free. I’m pretty sure an r8 gets the same or better mpg’s than I do now, and I’m happy with just not having a car payment or especially long commute. Free would cover the cost of gas for a while.
Wolf_Ape@reddit
No. Neither has the space or capability I need so practical considerations are irrelevant. I’m definitely going to take the r8. I’m absolutely not going to spend my life in a Prius. I could just take an uber everywhere if that’s what I wanted.
In the r8 maybe I can outrun the psycho trying to force me to drive one of these cars for life.
revocer@reddit
The latest Prius isn’t a slouch. Sure, it isn’t a V10, but for its class of vehicle, it has some pep.
PowerSpool@reddit
R8. Im not spending life in a car I deem boring when I had the option to not spend life that way.
agingcausescancer@reddit
Audi. I enjoy the experience of driving.
Klutzy_Guitar_9315@reddit
Can’t fit a gig’s worth of guitars and an amp in the R8. Guess I’m stuck. I guess I should consider children too. I’ll split the difference and get a golf R. Oh wait,
Equal-Fee770@reddit
Neither of these vehicles fit me well, nor do they fit my lifestyle well. If I’m stuck being miserable no matter what long term, I’ve never seen anybody upset in a v10
fad3dm1ndz@reddit
Prius, you can do way more things with it than the R8.
SnooGadgets9669@reddit
I think the Prius is a very easy decision to make in this scenario.
Brilliant-Onion2129@reddit
Most of my driving is highway. Prius’s get less MPG on the highway. I’ll go with the Audi. Love Toyota but hate Prius!
throwawayyourfun@reddit
If these are the only choices, the Toyota. Good thing there's other cars.
ApprehensiveWash7969@reddit
Unfortunately we live in a world where "costs" play a huge factor on how we live. And I praise anyone who has the means to keep the Audi R8 on the road for any period of time. I am not one of them. Prius for those of us who are mere mortals.
ILikePastuh@reddit
Prius.. lol. What a reddit moment. Nobody outside of Reddit is picking the Prius here.
fartkidwonder@reddit
If my wife can still drive whatever, give me the Audi. If we only get one car, it’ll have to be the Prius.
margosobet@reddit
r8. how tf is this even a choice. uber for the rest of life, and use the r8.
_MadSuburbanDad_@reddit
The Audi in a heartbeat. Life is too short to drive boring cars….
ironicmirror@reddit
You could buy a Prius for the amount of money you're going to spend on gas in that Audi in 3 years.
Premium gas at 15 miles per gallon.. that's $5,000 a year based on 15K miles per year.
Unless you think gas prices are going down.
One_Evil_Monkey@reddit
How or why is this even a question?
You're comparing crappy apples to oddball bitter melons.
It's like asking what would you rather have... cansyphilaids or skankoidosis. Neither sound pleasant. Both can be cured with a heavy dose of nope.
Why am I being forced to pick between a Prius and an any Audi anyway?
If I've got a gun to my head... for long term... sadly, the damn Prius. If I want fun I'd rather have an Audi TT
avoidhugeships@reddit
Audi R8 is an easy choice for me. The minor sacrifices are worth it for the fun.
New-Proof-1185@reddit
Prius hands down. I’d post for a Prius. I’d never own an Audi due to problems with in the past. Very unreliable and costly to repair.
Splenda@reddit
Prius for the win! Not only four times less fuel consumption (and pollution), but actually somewhat quick and nimble, especially in Power Mode. Great for city parking, too. Only real drawback is minimal clearance for deep snow or extremely rough backcountry tracks.
nixiebunny@reddit
The power of the Audi isn’t as important as the comfort, roominess and reliability of the Prius. I drove a Prius for ten years. It was an incredibly versatile car. Towed a trailer to Burning Man with it.
VW-MB-AMC@reddit
With the roads, weather conditions and gas prices we have in my area the R8 would be a very bad choice.
shredlikebutter@reddit
Prius forever and always
Rare-Bet-870@reddit
Prius if it’sthe only option for life. Right now however Audi
Sweet_Baby_Cheezus@reddit
Anyone who's not 19 or a multimillionaire is going to take the Prius.
Expert-Masterpiece70@reddit
I actually worked for Audi and did the R8 launch in Atlanta on the Speedway. Currently driving my 10th Audi.
Never_mind_honey@reddit
R8 is pretty uncomfortable car. It has performance levels only obtainable on a race track and on streets and is pretty much only good for the look at me factor. There are sports cars far more fun to drive on roads while also being far more comfortable.
