Best smaller cities to live in Switzerland?

Hi everyone,
I’m exploring different areas in Switzerland beyond the big cities and I’d love some input from people who have experience living here.
Zurich and Geneva are great, but they’re also extremely expensive and busy. I’ve recently been looking into smaller places like Schaffhausen and they seem quite appealing in terms of quality of life and cost.
Are there any hidden gems you would recommend?
How is daily life in smaller Swiss towns compared to big cities?
Would love to hear your thoughts!

Zurich and Geneva are in completely different regions; might as well be different countries if you’re coming from abroad. Lugano is also very nice - all of Ticino is. But it’s again another region. Been is nice. Baden. Many of the little town along the Bodensee.
There really isn’t much variation in QoL. It’s clean, safe, convenient everywhere.
What will matter is where your job is and what language(s) you speak. Without more information it’s pretty hard to say.

I have the chance that I can work from everywhere and I'm considering Schaffhausen atm. I can speak some German too.

You already live in Switzerland, or are you thinking of moving there?
